That's it, I refuse to buy this DVD. What the hell is wrong with Disney?? They have a chance to give the movie the update it truly deserves, and they frickin' throw things away???!Pasta67 wrote:Losses:

Well, the trailers could still be on there:Lazario wrote:That's it, I refuse to buy this DVD. What the hell is wrong with Disney?? They have a chance to give the movie the update it truly deserves, and they frickin' throw things away???!Pasta67 wrote:Losses:

It doesn't mention the trailers.UD Front Page wrote:Truly missing are the sound design excerpt from The Reluctant Dragon, Michael Crawford's "Baby Mine" music video, and (obviously) the Dumbo II sneak peek, all of which were found on the 1941 classic's 60th Anniversary Edition DVD.
Also, if the transfer is amazing, I could care less about an irrelevant featurette about designing sound.

For a nice new transfer it is worth it BUT if it's still like the OLD one then your right, it isn't worth the upgrade.Lars Vermundsberget wrote:Those of us who have Dumbo already don't need to buy this, I guess.
Buttttttttttt, on the first release of the DVD Disney did not say anything about a new tranfer so we can luck out!
The back of the case does state 'New Digital Transfer'. But who knows, maybe it's the same 'new', five-year-old transfer (which was called 'Digitally Restored And Remastered.')

There's a review of this DVD just posted at boxofficemojo.com but the reviewer doesn't state whether or not the piture quality is better than the first release. He just says good picture quality. I guess we'll have to wait for Aaron's review to find out.

Is there a problem with the picture quality of the previous Dumbo DVD?BATBFan1 wrote:For a nice new transfer it is worth it BUT if it's still like the OLD one then your right, it isn't worth the upgrade.Lars Vermundsberget wrote:Those of us who have Dumbo already don't need to buy this, I guess.

I can tell you that it's not the same transfer, but there are positives and negatives stemming from that fact. Aaron's review will definitely cover this in detail.

Okay, then. I'll go log that away in some safe place so that no one could ever find itLars Vermundsberget wrote:Based on Luke's comment I guess that's something that should not be expressed with a simple "yes" or "no".

The commentary's still on there?
*Hills open up, flowers pop out of the ground, and each start yelling "Hallelujah"*
Well, you can plug me into the nearest electrical outlet and call me shocked. While Disney isn't adding anything substantial to this set, at least they aren't removing anything substantial either.

Sorry to double post, but here's the back cover is anyone's interested:

From Axelmusic.com
Oh, and I went to the official website for the DVD, and c'mon Disney, why on earth would you put "packed with all-new learning features" as the only advertisement? If anything, I would think that would repel customers rather than attract them.

I can't wait to get this new edition! The old Dumbo DVD was such a disgrace. I remember being so excited to get it, since it is one of my favorite Disney movies, and nothing could have been more deflating than to pop it in my DVD player and see that horrible picture transfer. I ended up reselling it to get some of my money back. I look forward to seeing the improvement in this version!
Well, let's see. Aaron received the DVD about 18 hours ago, during which he finished another review. So how about "Soon." But, assuming you want a thorough review, then "not immediately." After all, this one is going to require a lot of work in doing A/B comparisons. It should be up by the end of the weekend, though, I imagine.BATBFan1 wrote:HEY LUKE! And to answer mcrutland, yes, the RKO logo is retained.

On DVD Town there is a review of the dvd (also with comments on audio and video): http://www.dvdtown.com/review/dumbobigt ... 18595/3705
There are also 3 screenshots that show the video quality! From the small screenshots it appears a lot of noise reduction has been applied... and lots of added Edge Enhancement too... http://www.dvdtown.com/screenshots/dumb ... ion/18595/
