all odds. Mrs. Jumbo, an elephant in a touring circus, is visited by the stork one day and is blessed with
a baby elephant, whose huge ears cause the other elephants to mockingly nickname him “Dumbo.”
When Dumbo is separated from his mother, he finds a loyal friend in little Timothy Mouse, who tries to
steer Dumbo in the right direction. Although the circus views him as an outcast, Dumbo and Timothy
discover Dumbo’s hidden talent: his huge ears enable him to fly! Dumbo and Timothy team up to
overcome all obstacles as they soar to fame and fortune around the world.
Dumbo is an Academy Award® winner for Best Musical Score (1941), and the film’s lovely songs include
“Baby Mine,” “Casey Junior” and “When I See An Elephant Fly.” Dumbo features classic Disney
animation from the “golden age” of the Disney Studio. Made shortly after “Fantasia,” Dumbo’s team of
filmmakers includes members from Walt’s famous “nine old men” of directing animators. The lush,
beautiful animation gives life to such famous scenes as the “Pink Elephant” sequence, a brilliant scene
that features the wonderful song “Pink Elephants On Parade.”

Dumbo: Big Top Edition cover revealed!

Do you guys like it?
I don't know by the cover if the DVD is 2 Discs or not.
This tell you what's going to be on the DVD.
I am sure Luke will have more on this DVD later today!!!

yes, I really like it, is a pretty cool cover, I love the logo.
This is a more colorful and happy cover that the 60th anniversary edition one, though I think Dumbo is a really sad movie.
I might be getting this dvd since the other dvd I have has a terrible transfer.

Well, by what the extras mention it is filled with just games. The only thing I can recall as a documentary is: CELEBRATING DUMBO; and even that reads "featurette".
So aside from a new video transfer I don't see it as a worthy edition (because basically I don't think the audio will be that much improved either).
As for the cover: Dumbo off model, but great looking.

I love the cover art - great improvement.
Thumbs up!
Again, since I don't currently own Dumbo....this is a must-buy for me. I'm guessing it will be a single-disc release, although I hope not.

The front page confirms this is a one-disc release. Why??? Maybe I'm wrong that Dumbo has never had a 2-disc release? It's not fair that it doesn't get a 2-discer.
Anyway -- I still can't wait.

Maybe; but a single-disc simply isn't good enough for this release. And if we actually made Disney's wallet suffer for some of these half-assed releases, we might see a change. But, if people keep on buying them however bad the extras are, they'll never see a need to put more effort into it.kbehm29 wrote:Anyway -- I still can't wait.

GREAT cover. I'm still confused over the mystery that is the number of discs to this so-called "Special Edition".
I'll probably buy it since it's a classic I don't own yet, but I hope the features are worth the trouble of getting a new edition.

It's quite possible there just isn't enough content to justify a two-disc release. Keep in mind that, at 64 minutes, Dumbo is one of Disney's shortest animated features. If the only new additions are going to be games and a music video (presumably replacing Michael Crawford with something more currently marketable), then it doesn't make too much sense to stretch everything out to two lightweight discs. As of now, it's definitely looking like this is in the tone of Tarzan and The Emperor's New Groove. "Put on a slipcover, get it in the new releases section, and those putting off buying it will finally get it with opening week sales." At least there's room for improvement in the picture department on Dumbo. Though I'm somewhat skeptical that this new release will take advantage of that, unless a new high-definition master is being or has been created.

I can't wait because I don't own any version of Dumbo! Although I would rather have a 2-disc, maybe there isn't enough content for one...like Luke said. And I really do love the cover art for this one - the more I look at it, the better it gets!TM2-Megatron wrote: Maybe; but a single-disc simply isn't good enough for this release. The cover's actually pretty good, though I was taken back at first at how Dumbo popped out at me (I actually moved my head backwards when the cover came up). The fact that this is just a single disc is a bit disappointing, but since Dumbo isn't one of my favorite Disney movies, this doesn't really bother me. I just hope the film gets a Lowry (now known as DTS, though I prefer Lowry) restoration. Luke is probably right in saying that the film is too simple to really have a jam-packed 2-disc SE. I'm not taking this as a sign that Disney is quitting with 2-disc re-releases of animated classics. Tarzan and The Emperor's New Groove were due to flat-out laziness, and it seems Dumbo is due to lack of real content to produce. I have hopes that other animated re-releases in the future (Lilo, Hunchback, Peter Pan) will be 2-disc affairs .

Looks like a fun set. I am not sure about wether there is enough content for 2 discs. But it really is a short and intimate film. It didn't get major re-releases either unlike most of Disney's films. Eventhough it's as much a milestone as, say Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians and Junlge Book (in my opinion)
