Most of my friends know I'm a big Disney fan so I dont encounter it that often, but it always throws me for a loop when i do. I was pretty much known in high school for always wearing a mickey mouse watch and carrying those mickey "rush brushes" they used to sell at the parks before they discontinued them. (anybody even know what I'm talking about?)
However when the Cinderella DVD came out i got a lot of flack from everyone when they found out i bought it. One girl I work with thought I was crazy for running out to buy Cinderella on the day it came out. (This from a girl who immediatly buys any movie sight unseen if it has "dreamy Orlando Bloom" in it

) another girl decided to spread it around telling everyone i bought Cinderella like it was some juicy piece of gossip that i should be ashamed of or something.
I guess because I'm a guy they thought it seemed "girly" of me to like Cinderella or something. ( Cinderella was at one time my absolute favorite Disney movie because of the amazing fairy godmother transformation scene). Even my explanations of how i like great animation (and I do like lots of differant animation besides Disney) seemed to fall on deaf ears.
Like it or not there still is a perception in some peoples eyes that Disney is only for babies. It annoys me when I see people pointing to uncreative CRAP like the Day After Tommorrow as something that is BETTER than Disney because it has "Cool special effects" (yeah and a plot fit for a 5 year old).
I see it happen to my brother sometimes too because his favorite Disney charecter is Winnie the Pooh and people sometimes look at him like : "shouldn't you have outgrown that by now?"
I don't see it as a majority of people who think that way though. I mean most people actually like Disney movies. maybe not to the same degree as we here on the boards, but most wont make fun of you for liking Disney. In fact when I bought the DuckTales DVD at Best Buy, the girl who checked me out was surprised and said she hadn't seen that show in years and didnt even know it was out on DVD. I told her I used to watch it every day after school and she said yeah she did too and she thought almost everyone our age did. So yeah while she's probably not a huge Disney fan (How could she be if she didnt know immedietly when DuckTales was going to be on DVD

) even she liked Disney.
Well thats my dollars worth of rambling anyway....oh by the way...that girl who was spreading the news about me buying Cinderella as if I'd done something dirty actually asked me a few weeks later if she could borrow it cuz she hadn't seen it in a long time and wanted to see it again.
