I just saw the preview of The Santa Clause 3 it was attached with Over the Hedge and it looks okay I say it looks better then the second one in my opinion.
Anyways the plot of the movie is that Jack Frost is the new Santa Clause and Calvin has to claim his spot back. :D

Off topic Over the Hedge was great overall I say it should get a B+

Is anyone else outraged that Santa Claus 3 sounds like a live
action version of Nightmare Before Christmas?

Plus does Danny Elfman know they're using his music in the trailer?

There's a Jack taking over Christmas.
Santa goes "oh no" but saves the day at the end.

Outrageous.

If Tim Allen has a skinny friend called Sally who's limbs happen to fall off
sometimes then I'll be doubly concerned.

Dear oh deary me.

The music is not owned by him but by Wonderland Music Co. so they don't need to tell Elfman what they use it in.

Luke wrote: I know you were exaggerating, but I'd love to hear even a handful of what you consider plot holes. I've both pondered different things and heard others do the same and I'm currently fairly convinced that it's pretty tight and consistent. Not perfect, but certainly not with quite a lot of glaring and important plot holes. I think the Biff disappearing conundrum (which I guess was deleted) might lead to some confusion, and a lot of the rest of it requires mind-bending thought to fully understand, but nevertheless, I consider the latter quality one of the film's many positive traits. It's one thing not to like the movie (which is fine; I thought Back to the Future Part III was clearly the weak link - sorry, Netty), but to fault II for plot holes and then not point any out makes me anxious to hear what you have in mind. (Though perhaps this is best suited for a separate thread.)
Well the hole idea of Marty, Doc and Jennifer going to the future kinda makes the whole sequel hard to "suspend-disbelieve", since they really couldn't see themselves in the future in they went back in time.

Of course, the filmmakers had no idea the original Back to the Future would be a hit, so they said they ended the movie as a "joke". But when it turned out successful, they were stuck with working with that idea. So I can't really blame the filmmakers, however, I wish they found a way to make that more believeable.

Speaking of which, why did they make Biff see the Delorean fly in 1985 at the beginning? It just made the first plot-hole more confusing, and lead to more questions.

Also, Doc said they could go back to the future, because it would be an alternate 1985, but then how did Biff get back to the regular 1985 when coming back from the past giving himself the book? I know the world was "changing", but it seems odd it would remain so similar to how it would've been.

Also, considering 2015 is just 9 years away, the film itself will get outdated unlike the other 2.

Also, the whole interactions with themselves in 1955, just made the film kinda confusing with several very minature plot-holes.

Overall, I won't agree with Netty that BTT3 is better than the original, but I will agree with him it's better than BTT2 as there are much less plot-holes, it ended the way we wanted it to end, and I love how they threw in another genre' in there, making it more orignal than BTT2. :)

Well better copying another film than the originals, like most sequels do. :)

Well honestly, I can't see it as a live-action NBC. Okay, I guess I CAN see where your coming from, but there look like to be many differences. The main ones being that Jack in this film looks to be the villain while in NBC, he was the hero and the whole Escape Clause thing, which caused a whole seperate arguement with Luke. lol

That poster decreased my desire to see the movie. I loved the first movie for the humor, drama, and sense of wonder. The second was a little too freaky for me with militarized toy soldiers and a plastic Santa Claus. The Jack Frost character design and the tagline lead me to believe this will be more like the second than the first movie in its conception.

I think you're right. After all, the writers and director are returning from the second one. Which was a fine movie, but not a classic like the first. Still, I'm excited to see how this one turns out and the trailer doesn't make it look bad.

I don't know if I'm going to see this, for the already mentioned Back to the Future part II flavor and no David Krumholtz. This screams "rental" to me.

I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for this one. I mean this one is more like a sequel to the second one than the third one in a series. The second one really had none of the same humour or heart as the first one, and it just seemed really undercooked in my opinion. Not to say that it was a crap film, it just didn't hold up as a sequel to the best Christmas movie ever. I have very fond memories of the first movie and watching it as a child, and on the whole the second one just didn't work for me. It all seemed very polished and clean and plastic to me, which it seemed to rely on during the movie. It did have good acting and some moments of laughter did occur during it, but I did have high hopes for it, and it didn't live up to expectations.
The third one should be much like it. Hopefully Martin Short can breath some much needed new blood into the franchise. I'll probably see it when it comes out.

I just can't believe that they're releasing a third one. The first one was great! The second, on the other hand, was awful.

I really liked the first one and the second was good too. So I'll probably check the third out. But does anyone think that Disney should have waited til later in the month to release it? It comes out the week after Halloween.

The trouble with holiday themed movies is that after the holiday, attendance typically dies dramatically. The Santa Clause franchise is huge for Disney. They are probably hoping that releasing it this early will get a lot of people seeing it opening weekend because they are eager to see the next film in the series. I predict that attendance will die down until Thanksgiving weekend when it will probably increase again. And then inevitably the closer to Christmas we get, attendance should remain consistant. However, this could also be suicide. I personally am not in the Christmas mood until Thanksgiving, so releaseing it so early in November could possibly cause it to perform so poorly that it is done playing at most theaters before Thanksgiving rolls around. That's of course assuming that everyone thinks like me. They probably don't. If I were a studio executive, I would have opened it a week before Thanksgiving, but I guess it's not openeing much sooner than when I would open it, so it will probably do well. Wow, I've just been rambling and contradicting myself. Hopefully you will be able to make sense of what I'm trying to say. lol.

I think the release date for Santa Clause 3 is perfect. The movie needs as much time as possible to bring in money because no one is going to go see the movie after Christmas. I feel like the Holiday season really starts in November.

I am really excited about this movie, I think it looks really funny and I really love Martin Short. I haven't seen Santa Clause 2 yet, so I will have to rent that, and then go see this one. :)

I'm really psyched for this one. I love Christmas movies, but I really had to warm up to the first Santa Clause. I mean, it was kinda like a werewolf movie or something, or the Shaggy Dog, with a Christmas theme... Plus, I've always hated the idea of Santa being "replaceable." I prefer takes like "Santa Claus the Movie" or "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" on Santa. Still, it's a funny movie with some cool concepts and minimal annoyances (sometimes the kid cast was a bit too cheeky/cheezy for my tastes with some of their lines). However, I might have liked the second one even better. I didn't love the way it started out, with the submarine movie spoof and the teenage son with issues, but I really liked the way it played out. It was really funny, Judge Reinhold's character was great in that one, and and I LOVED Scott's magical date with the principal! I think that's what I really love about that film! That really magical date, in addition to the hilarious one with Molly Shannon! I could have done without the dancing Mrs. Claus in the credits though, ha. Anyway, I think Martin Short is hilarious most of the time, and this looks like an awesome way to end(?) the series to me.
