The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause

No, there's no new DVD coming out. Just a price drop, which many e-tailers treat as a pre-order. The DVD is the same Special Edition that was released in the fall of 2002.
DreamerQ18 wrote: Also is thier really going to be a Santa Clause 3? If so why ? And does anyone know what it could be about. Personally I dont think its necessary. I mean what else could possiobly be on the little Santa Clause card??? :? Sorry about all the questions lol
Tim Allen said they were coming up with ideas and that he would only be interested if they had something good. As the two Santa Clause movies are among Disney's biggest grossers from the past decade, it's not surprising that Disney would want to revisit the franchise. Nothing's been signed yet, but Allen recently stated that Disney was hoping to start production in January and get it out by Christmas 2005. That doesn't seem too likely, since Disney already has 8 movies lined up for next year, but The Shaggy Dog will probably have wrapped filming by then.
Immediately after Kranks wraps, Disney wants him to shoot <i>The Shaggy Dog</i>. (Allen co-wrote the script and has already tried on his Border collie fur.) He's then scheduled to team with Bette Midler on the door-to-door cosmetics comedy <i>In the Pink</i> before starting on <i>The Santa Clause 3</i> in January for a Christmas '05 release.

"The concept," Allen says, "is 'What if Santa Claus didn't exist?' "

I hope they also re-release a Santa Clause Trilogy.

Sorry what am I saying. Of course Santa Claus exists. And he works hard all year to make Christmas Day extra special.

Phew. Got of of that one.

I like Tim Allen, and I like Santa Claus movies, so if they make a 3rd one, I'll watch it. It could be good. I do want to get Santa Clause 2 on DVD, so the price drop will be nice if I can still find the WS version.

the news of a third installment, or the possibility, is great news for me. It excites me! I also am glad that they won't do it unless Mr. Tim Allen agrees with a "good script" which seems to assure me somewhat..

and about the 8 movie thing next year - maybe next year is a big disney year!! :D

Oh it will undoubtedly be a big Disney year, but I don't think Disney would try to squeeze Santa Clause 2 in between Cars and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. It'd negatively affect three of their most profitable upcoming movies.

An update from Tim Allen on <i>The Santa Clause 3</i>: "A terrifyingly talented and dedicated creative group is outlining and writing drafts of the third installment of Santa Clause. More to come... It’s a really great story so far."

*BUMPIN UP*

i have a question that's why. ;)
(Maybe Luke and other UD-ers can answer!)

on the UD front page, it said...
Variety reports that Disney has signed on Santa Clause 2 director Michael Lembeck and star Tim Allen to begin shooting The Santa Clause 3 this November to hit theaters November 2006.
soo...any chance of them having a box set for Santa Clause?! :D
BTW, what's with movies suddenly becoming trilogies?! :?

hehee... :)
Actually, Daelex, I bumped this topic because on the front page of UD, there was mention of an SC3. (and I didn't want to start a new thread...this thread sorta mentions Tim Allen and SC3 that's why ;))

Dave
and Patrick, you answered the wrong question! :P
I was hoping someone had insight on a SC Box Set since a third movie is coming out.

Alright, I've gone ahead and split this, since it seems to merit its own topic now. Thanks for digging it up, RJKD23!

A Santa Clause Trilogy set? Seems likely for Holiday 2007, I'd say! :) Now if only that meant a more worthwhile edition for the first film, but it'd probably just be a repackaging instead.

Still, 2006 is starting to be as exciting a year for Disney movies as 2005 once was or might be.

So far, we've got...

January: Glory Road
Spring: The Shaggy Dog
June: Cars
July: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
November: The Santa Clause 3

Not to mention all the exciting DVDs in the works!

Oh, and a premise line for the third movie:

"In the third film Santa, aka Scott Calvin, struggles to keep his new family happy while battling Jack Frost, who is trying to take over Christmas."

Let's just hope it's not Michael Keaton's Jack Frost!

I loved <i>The Santa Clause</i>, mildly disliked <i>The Santa Clause 2</i>, and am hardly looking forward to this new installment. Sorry for my negativity. :tink:
