Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the 2nd Annual Ultimate Disney Movie & Media Awards. Here's lord-of-sith....

It has always been said that sequels never live up to the originals. Film makers search for original ideas, while still trying to keep the characters true to the original. Often, they fail to do so. However, there are some that live up to (and sometimes even exceed) their predecessors.

The nominees for Best Theatrical Sequel to a Feature Film are:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Sequel to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone)
Herbie: Fully Loaded (Sequel to The Love Bug)
The Ring Two (Sequel to The Ring)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (Sequel to Star Wars)

And the award goes to...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the third and final prequel to 1977's Star Wars.

There are many ways to spread the news around the world. Whether it's comedy like John Stewart and The Daily Show or sincerity with Peter Jennings and ABC Evening News. One thing they have in common is they inform us of the world, economy and politics. However, only one stands out from the rest and does the best job of presenting their knowledge.

One of them sees the future, one of them lives in the future, and two of them live in a hotel! That takes care of three of our nominees for Best Disney Channel Original Series. The other two lead double-lives... when they aren't students, one's a superhero and the other's a dragon. Like it or loathe it, many of us at UD hold a special place in our hearts for the Disney Channel and tonight we award some of its best programming of the last year.

Oh my God! I was in such a rush this morning that I didn't even realize that Ian McDiarmid won best supporting actor!

Yay! So that's 5 for RotS so far! And also, yay for Tilda Swinton. And I agree that Regis and Kelly should win, even though Ellen is fun.

Live via Satellite from the United Kingdom, it's Wonderlicious!

Can you believe that just under a decade ago, the only mainstream home video releases were generally fragile casettes housing cropped and degrading versions of our favourite films with nothing except a few promos for other films included on top? Fortunately, ever since the DVD became popular, everything has changed. Nowadays, lots of films are brought to the home in their original cineramic beauty, never degrading and full of extras, such as the following nominees, which some consider the best DVD releases of 2005. Yet who will win?

Will it be Bambi: 2-Disc Platinum Special Edition, Walt Disney's triumph of nature replication, restored from its original negative to stunning quality and full of amazing extras including the breakthrough Walt's Story Meetings audio-visual commentary?

Could Cinderella: 2-Disc Special Edition win, though? The popular Disney fairy tale came to DVD last October in a lovely fashion, with a gorgeous transfer and some interesting bonus features proving a hit.

The Incredibles: 2-Disc Collector's Edition has a chance though; it's an immensly popular film, with great cinematography and a DVD just as good.

There's also Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith 2-Disc. Considering that some claim that this is up there with the original trilogy and being a recent film, has a lot of bonus features, this could win.

Perhaps Toy Story: 2-Disc Special 10th Anniversary Edition has a chance though. It may not quite match the amazingness of the Ultimate Toy Box, but considering the popularity of the film and the fact that there's new bonus features, there's a chance it could win.

Yet we have another nominee...The Wizard of Oz: 3-Disc Collector's Edition! With not just the original classic, but numerous rare pre-1939 Oz films on this set, plus lovely replications of artwork, this could be the winner.

Or is it? The winner is The Wizard of Oz: 3-Disc Collector's Edition

The Wizard of Oz: What a wonderful wiz of a winner this is! This is a deserving winner, as the film is a gem. Look at all the wonderful things it does.

Zoltack: What really makes television so great? Is it the fact that you can hear and see people miles away? Television wouldn't have gained so much popularity if it wasn't for the dedicated broadcast networks that bring us hours of entertainment every day...

Now, here with the award for Best Visual Effects, once again it's lord-of-sith!

Today in films, the standards for visual effects have been raised higher than ever. Film makers have pushed the boundaries of digital effects so that the audiences can't even tell if what they're seeing is real, or computer generated. The challenges range from flying space ships, digital stunt doubles, digital creatures, to even completely digital sets.

The nominees for Best Visual Effects in a Feature Film are:

Wow, the best leading actress in a comedy series award surprises me. I though a Desperate Housewife would win for sure. I still think Marcia is the best, but congrats to Jane. And even though Steve Carell rules, Jason Lee is a worthy adversary.

But then there's something to be said for nailing a serious role, too. The casts of TV's dramas must be dynamic, offering both intensity and occasional humor as they create characters in which viewers can become invested over the span of many years.
