The law, courtrooms, free speech, protests / marches / demonstrations... It's too broad for me to ever be able to explain in a few sentences, paragraphs,
pages of text. I could try to explain for days, weeks, months, years, but I guess it's just kind of abstract.
I have faith in it, though. More faith than most people have in God. Or in the President, politicians, certainly Republicans and conservatives alike, the police , you name it! Liberals care about people and rights, Conservatives care about money and power. That's the way it's always been. Tell me then, why don't or didn't Republicans
ever do anything about AIDS. Or why so many southern Republican politicians supported the Ku Klux Klan. Or why conservative small towns always take the football player's side when a girl says she was raped? Why did conservative/fundamentalist-churches advertise for their sermons after the release of Passion of the Christ: "Jews killed our lord Jesus", and why did Republicans rush to defense of Mel Gibson? Why do they choose to support the Pope or the preachers who cry homosexuality is a sin? Why were conservatives always the ones who didn't allows blacks, jews, or gays to join their yaght clubs or country clubs?
And most importantly,
why don't you people care about the crimes done to people because of politics?! In the end, Clinton was a huge supporter of gay rights. He had Ellen Generes and Anne Heche at White House dinners, together and had photos taken with them in public, standing together. He tried to overturn the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and was pro- gays in the military. What did the Bush administraton do for gays??? Oh, that's right... He : 1. refused to continue legally recognizing June as Gay-Pride month, 2. publically supports the bill to legally redefine marriage as an institution between a man & woman only, 3. proclaim they want a return to traditional American values for the purpose of (among other things) reclaiming the tradition idea of gender and family roles, 4. Cheney refuses to publically recognize his daughter as a lesbian and also refuses to have her photographed with him at the 2004 Republican National Convention but had her government-ordered to attend = a complete violation of her right as a HUMAN BEING to be proud of who she is.
If you don't give a crap about these things, you are lower than dirt. And that - is just my opinion!
