I bought this album the day after it came out. I had to have it. And what can I say? It's actually a good album, compared to her past two mediocre albums. She went back to her roots and I love the beats to most of the songs. Songs that are a MUST for me to jam or listen to are: "Forbidden Love", "Jump", "Issac", "I Love New York" and "Future Lovers". The last two songs are definitely my favorite ones on the album, great beats and beautiful vocals from Madonna.

I'm glad you like the album, Kenai. It's such an addicting album, to me. I can't stop listening. I can't wait to get the Limited Edition, which looks really nice, plus has the extra track, "Fighting Spirit".

Her fan club, ICON, also released a bonus track, called "Super Pop", and it is such a fun, catchy song. The lyrics are kind of silly, but it is one heck of a catchy song!

Some other information:

Madonna's new album, Confessions On A Dance Floor, is set to debut on top of Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart. This will be Madonna sixth #1 album. The album sold over 344,000 copies in the first week. I believe that total does not include sales from iTunes and Amazon, but I am not sure. Keep in mind, this information comes from www.hitsdailydouble.com

Also, for those who have not bought the album, or want to pick up copies for Christmas gifts, K-Mart will have it on sale for $7.99, this Friday, from 5 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Best Buy will also have it for $7.99, this Friday, until Noon!

I listened to that CD since I burned it from one of my brother's friend. "Confessions on a Dance Floor" was a great album. Madonna is setting the world on fire once again.

You are welcome, Kenai.

If you don't get ahold of "Super Pop", let me know. "Fighting Spirit" isn't out, yet, as it won't be released until the Limited Edition comes out, on December 13th.

As a Madonna fan, I am excited about her new album, and the fact that it is hitting #1 all around the world, including America! Here is the press release from Warner Brothers!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Madonna Dances to Number One: "Confessions On A Dance Floor" Tops Charts Internationally
NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/23/2005 -- Madonna has set the world dancing with the release of her phenomenal new Warner Bros. Records album, "Confessions On A Dance Floor," featuring the smash global hit, "Hung Up."

A bravura return to the iconic superstar's dance music roots, "Confessions On A Dance Floor" has swept the planet since its release on November 15th, debuting at Number One on Billboard Top 200 charts and repeating the feat in a staggering 24 other countries from Japan, Portugal, Spain and Australia to France, Germany, Sweden, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the single "Hung Up" is setting charts everywhere ablaze, rocketing to the top spot in eight countries and ruling American dance charts for four weeks in a row. In the process it has joined the ranks of thirty-five number one dance singles from an artist who has single-handedly defined the genre across nearly two decades.

The MTV Networks (including MTV, VH1 and Logo) have been a huge part of the success of Madonna's new album. The "Hung Up" video, which reached number one on MTV's TRL for five consecutive days, while remaining in heavy rotation on both MTV (The Big 10) and VH1 (Gung Ho), further enhances Madonna's reputation as the premier video pioneer of our time.

It's a reputation spreading into digital realms as well, with three different configurations of "Confessions On A Dance Floor" currently holding three out of four top downloads spots on the iTunes Music store, while "Hung Up" is lodged at number one on iTunes overall singles chart. Altogether, the iTunes Music store sales represents nearly 10% of Madonna's overall CD sales. As a ringtone "Hung Up" is likewise making history since debuting a full month before its radio release, prompting millions of downloads across the world.

Racking up sales of over 350,000 units in the U.S. alone, "Confessions On A Dance Floor," joins Madonna's two previous albums, "Music" and "American Life," as her third straight number one debut. With a sound that evokes and embellishes all the excitement, energy and innovation that first set Madonna apart as dance music's all-time most original innovator, "Confessions On A Dance Floor," co-produced and co-written by Madonna and DJ wizard Stuart Price, is just the latest triumph from this incandescent superstar. Packing stadiums worldwide with her astonishing stage spectacles, Madonna has made music history with international sales of over 200 million albums. Her enormous influence has spanned six chart-topping albums and 46 Top 40 singles.

It's hardly surprising that fans around the world have taken the album to heart as a declaration of musical independence and identity. "Madonna has transformed herself so many times," observed Stephanie Rosenbloom in The New York Times, "that nearly every fan has seen a glimmer of herself, or himself, reflected in her at some point...To see even a part of yourself embraced by her, especially a part that you feel is marginalized, can be a heady validation."

With "Confessions On A Dance Floor" Madonna has offered glorious validation to our immemorial impulse to "dance for inspiration."

I'm curious to know if anyone else, here, picked up this album, recently. What are your thoughts?

I'm also interested in Lazario's opinion.

The Limited Edition is out next Tuesday! I can't wait. On top of the bonus track, "Fighting Spirit", there is an awesome photo album, a journal, and, a one month membership to her fanclub, ICON.

I've heard a 30-Second clip of "Fighting Spirit", and it sounds pretty good. I can't wait to hear the whole thing!

Okay, some more information on the Limited Edition.

First off, you can pick up the Limited Edition of Confessions On A Dance Floor on Tuesday. Best Buy has it advertised for $24.99. That is a LOT cheaper than Circuit City, who has it listed for $33.99.

On top of the other great things the LE contains, including the bonus track, there is also the one month membership to ICON. I know that they have the ICON exlusive bonus track, "Super Pop" available to download for ICON members. So, I am assuming that, with the one month trial membership to ICON, those who pick up the LE will also be able to download "Super Pop". That would actually make two bonus songs with the purchase of the Limited Edition. I'm not 100% positive that you will be able to download "Super Pop" through ICON, but you should be able to do that.

I'm so excited for this release. I've seen a few of the pictures in the photo album, and they are BEAUTIFUL!

Well, Napster (I know not too many people use this service here, or who know better but it's free for me, unless I buy the songs because my roomie pays for it) finally has all the tracks for the album available for download. I want to give my opinion after I've heard them all...

But I can't resist.

I think this is without a doubt her best work since Ray of Light. I didn't think it was possible - but this is an amazing comeback. I think she must have dumped Mirwais as producer... Maybe he 'moved on'. I just think if she works with any one producer for too long the formula is bound to get stale.

But you know this is her at her best when I'm finding songs like the AMAZING "Jump" and "Push" rival just about anything on Ray of Light! "Future Lovers" is probably my favorite song, next to "Jump" and "Push". So far, my least favorite song is "Sorry". But I haven't heard "Let It Will Be", "Isaac", "I Love New York", "Like It Or Not" yet... If she doesn't release "Jump" as a single, it's a CRIME! Is "Sorry" her legitimate 2nd single?

It is a great album. I can't wait for you to hear the whole thing. At any rate, "Sorry" is the second single, and the video is out starting today. It will be on MTV on the 15th of Feb.

I almost saw the music video for "Hung Up" awhile back, I still haven't, the roomie changed the channel on me. What I really want to see is the documentary. I don't suppose that gets a lot of replays on VH1...

As I understand it, "Sorry" has been a bit of a failure as a single, it's not charting well at all. Though I hear "Hung Up" and the debut of the album broke 2 World Records... Not sure, just heard from pretty reliable-sounding sources and they had statistics and such, so... I'm apt to believe.

Anyway, now I've heard the whole album and I'm a little disappointed with a few songs. "Forbidden Love" is excellent, "How High" stinks, "Let It Will Be" kind of stinks, and "Like It or Not" is flat. "Isaac" is very good. "I Love New York" is not good. I assumed this would be the album's 3rd single, but now I hear it's a tug of war between "Get Together" and "Jump." "Get Together" is very good, but "Jump" is one of the best songs! So I hope "Jump" gets the honor. I doubt there will be more than 1 more single since "Sorry", which I predicted, has turned out to be a weak link.

Now, I must make a little confession of my own. I had not heard the entire American Life album until today. And WOW! I definitely underrated this one after hearing the 5 singles. "I'm So Stupid" and "Nobody Knows Me" so should have been singles. "Nobody Knows Me" ROCKS! And is the most danceable song on the album. Madonna always sells well when she gets people dancing, this should have been a no-brainer. "Mother and Father" was also an amazing song.

If Madonna doesn't bleed this current album absolutely dry with singles and videos and everything, what is she going to do? Where will she go after this album? By the time she gets the next one out, she'll be as good as 50... Cher's career has been a disaster after 50. Even if she was able to sell, the quality of her music was wretched! I just wonder... It's impossible not to with someone as constantly interesting as Madonna.

American radio has decided not to support Madonna, again. That does not mean "Sorry" isn't successful. It has been very successful on the video channels, and while it isn't charting high on Billboard (again, radio doesn't give Madonna the time of day), I wouldn't call it a flop. In fact, "Sorry" has hit #1 in quite a few countries. Just not in America. "Hung Up" hit #7 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, in LARGE part, due to sales on iTunes (and other digital sales avenues). Radio didn't really support "Hung Up", either. In fact, the reason most radio stations do not support Madonna is because they consider her too old (which is ridiculous). Her album, however, has been EXTREMELY successful, even without radio support. It is close to being certified 2x Platinum in America. The album, and single, "Hung Up", have broken quite a few records. Madonna's 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' set a new world record by going to No. 1 in a total of 40 countries, the most ever for an album. The worldwide sales now sit at 7.4 million for 'Confessions'. The lead single 'Hung Up' also sets a record for going to No. 1. It hit the top spot in 41 countries. 'Hung Up' has become one of Madonna’s best selling singles ever with a total sales of 4.7 million from digital, ringtones and single sales.

Also, the album has brought two more #1's for Madonna in America, on Billboard's Hot Club Play, and Hot Dance Airplay Chart. "Hung Up" and "Sorry" have both hit #1 on those charts.

I don't look for Madonna to have anymore radio hits off this album, or any other. Radio programmers in larger markets have made comments about Madonna, saying that she's too old for their demographic. That's complete BULL. If radio would play the songs, they would see that they are worthy to be aired. As is, I don't listen to radio, anyway. The best songs aren't played on radio.

I should also say, I'm surprised you aren't totally impressed with the whole album. The album really is meant to be listened to as whole. Sure, there are some songs that are better than others, but, I truly can say I enjoy every song on the album. I believe "Jump" will be the next single, and probably stands a better chance to be a "hit" than "Sorry" did. I would LOVE "Get Together" to be a single release. It's my favorite song off of the album.

I listened to the album as a whole just today, and of course you're right the whole thing works better as a long-playing album than Music or American Life. But I still think what I thought before, we all know Madonna is really a concept-album artist at heart.

As for the rest of Confessions' prospective singles, "Get Together" would fail whereas "Jump" really has that energy lacking from "Sorry." One of the things that has given "Sorry" it's MTV edge was that a piece of it was censored for content and stirred up a mite bit of controversy - again.

"Get Together" is quite boring, "Jump" is better as a final single (very uplifting), the "Sorry" video is boring, and Madonna will be releasing a Limited Edition (only 3,000 will be made) Three 12" Vinyl Set named 'Confessions Remixed' on April 11, which is basically made up of Stuart Price's Mixes:

Tracklist:
1. Hung Up (SDP’s Extended Vocal)
2. Hung Up (SDP’s Extended Dub)
3. Sorry (Man With Guitar Mix)
4. Get Together (Jacques Lu Cont Mix)*
5. I Love New York (Thin White Duke Mix)*
6. Let It Will Be (Paper Faces Mix)

*Unreleased

EDIT: saw it today at the Virgin Megatore

--------now a question for fellow Madge's fans......how have we been keeping up with the single releases for the COADF era??
