Madonna's new album, Confessions On A Dancefloor

Post by MadonnasManOne »

I am so excited. My favorite musical artist, Madonna, has a new album, titled Confessions On A Dancefloor, due out in America on November 15th, and November 14th for the rest of the world. The first single, "Hung Up" is due on radio stations on October 15th.

The lyrics to the song, while very simple, remind me of great Madonna dance classics. In fact, this whole album will be very dance oriented. The first single, "Hung Up", samples Abba's "Gimme Gimme Gimme".

You can go here: http://www.madonna.nu/ to download a 14 second clip of Madonna's new single, "Hung Up". It's at the top of the page, under the heading, "First listen to HUNG UP!" It sounds very dancey, and I LOVE IT!

For more information, as it becomes available, you can also go to www.madonna.com

Wow!

Though I am not Madonna's biggest fan, I do enjoy some of her music and I am amazed at this news. She's busy being a mom, writing children's books and now she has a new CD? :o

Two things I love: Madonna and Dance music, comming together? That's the greatest thing since sliced bread!

This album gonna rock! I'm probably going to get the album for christmas since I'm saving up all my money but maybe I can get the single when it comes out? Oh well. The important thing is Madonna is back!

Thanks for the info, MadonnaMansOne!

nooooooooooo!!!!

I prefer actual music/electronic Madonna from the "Ray Of Light" {BEST, IMO} Era...........

crap and

I LOVE! "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)".......

grrrrrrrrr...............Madonna stop making CRAP music.......such as "Music" (seriously there's only like 3 songs I like from this album)........but "AI" wasn't that bad [it was short but if it was longer it would have been DREADFUL]
and STOP being such a HYPOCRITE, she won't let her kids watch TV because of the sex and violence........well how was she back in the day?? and even recently........

but she's still one of my Idols...................

EDIT: Just listened to chorus.........it might be big in a lot of Gay clubs.........

I think this album will be great. It can't be worse than "American Life" that's for sure!

American Life was a great album, nobody gave it a chance after the dreadful 1st single that's way it did so poorly... I mean come on Love profusion, Nobody knows me, Nothing Fails, Mother & Father, Hollywood...all great songs.

Anyway can't wait for this album, a definate must buy

I think the key to American Life is that it's an album that grows on you. Give it time and you'll love the songs. It's a better album than Music in my opinion, because Music sounds fun or great when you hear it the first time, but the more you listen to it you start to realize that it's really not something that will stand much time at all. It's more of a diversion than a real musical statement, and it's quite fluffy at that. Like I keep saying, Madonna needs to drop Mirwais like a sack of bricks. She desperately needs new blood in the production studio. If that means begging William Orbit to come back, sobeit. Though it might not be fair of me to say that about Mirwais, he obviously matured in some areas in the production of American Life. Music was also, when I said fluffy I meant, not very mature. American Life seemed like more of a growth for Madonna, not like Music which seemed like her desperately trying to return back to her "Into the Groove" or "Material Girl" roots. Though it worked in several cases, in making her fashionable again (remember the cowboy fashion craze?), it's not as solid as American Life on the whole. Songs like "Runaway Lover" and "I Deserve It" fall right through the cracks and are instantly forgettable. The more you listen to American Life, the more you realize Madonna really had something to work with, she just let the first video get so flamboyant and sensationalistic (and controversial), that any other potential single/video wasn't warmly welcomed and couldn't pan out. Her songs for that album were more message-oriented and less about dancing and feeling good. I appreciated the boldness of it, but not many other people did. Chock it up to another Bush-era casualty. Madonna herself has had a few sore spots in her career (Erotica, anyone?), but they were all a matter of failed ambition and the mainstream's misunderstanding of her intention(s). In the future, people will most likely look back upon this time and that music fondly. I'm only intermediately excited about the new album because I want Madonna to keep working, however not at the expense of making substandard music. I hope the album has a theme but that the music or even the publicity is not taken over by it.

I agree with what Lazario says about American Life. That album has really got alot of depth, and personally, it is one of Madonna's strongest. The truth of the matter is, the controversy over the video for "American Life", and the song, itself, overshadowed the remainder of the album, and because the press made it out to be a personal attack against Bush, rather than Madonna saying, "Step back, look at the situation, and think for yourself", the album quickly sank. It debuted at #1, and, had it not been for the controversy, and the emotional state that America was in, I think that album would have had legs. Listen to songs, such as "Nothing Fails", "Nobody Knows Me", "Die Another Day", "Love Profusion", and "Hollywood". Madonna states very personal, and meaningful things, in these songs. They have a real depth.

However, I will say that I also love the "fun", and carefree side of Madonna. I love it when she is just cutting loose, and having fun, dancing like she doesn't have a care in the world. I have seen her on tour, twice, and once I was on the stage (in the pit, for her last tour), and seeing her energy, especially during her "dance" songs, is amazing. The woman doesn't stop. She is one of the most energetic, and forceful entertainers I have ever seen. She's like a bulldozer, coming full speed ahead. You can either hop on, or get ran over!

The new album will mostly be produced by Madonna and Stuart Price. Stuart Price has worked with Madonna on her last two tours, and has done an amazing job mixing, and re-mixing her tracks for the tours. I think he will certainly bring a freshness to Madonna's music. I feel that, with Confessions on a Dancefloor, Madonna wants to get back to making people dance. She's done three albums: Ray Of Light, Music, and American Life, that have been introspective, with a few "fun" songs, and now she's ready to party.

Hey, I'm all up for it. When Madonna decides to party, you might as well join in the fun! :D

The title of this new record really sounds more like a remix compilation than a brand-new album...

It might sound like a remix compilation, but it is a new album, with 12 tracks. Apparently, Apple iTunes will release the album online, one day earlier, with one track that will not be on the retail album.

I can not WAIT to hear this album! I think it's going to be hot.

I don't care for American Life as much as I did. It still has its gems, but it's not as good as Ray of Light, Music, or Bedtime Stories. :\

This is very cool! Madonna has recently shot a commercial for Motorola (in the U.K.), and they are now running an advertisement on their website, which brings up a Motorola phone, and a minute-plus long clip of Madonna's new song, "Hung Up".

After the song is finished, you can click the phone, to hear it, again. Click here: http://www.motorola.com/

Also, Steve Jobs called Madonna, during a press event this morning, where they both announced that Madonna will be putting all 15 of her albums on iTunes Music Service.

More on that story, here: http://www.madonna.nu/

I have both her greatest hits collections on my iPod and I absolutely cherish the entire Ray of Light album. Too bad I need a replacement copy right about now! Anyway, Music was a strong follow-up to a Grammy winner, but American Life was a big letdown. :(

November 15th can't come quick enough!!!

EDIT: The link was supposed to open a large image of the cover, but it just takes you to the page. Scroll to the News Item: Final Cover Art!

If someone can actually post the picture in this thread, that would be cool, as I don't know how to do it.

Seems you can't post the image, this site doesn't allow direct linkage.

Wow, the cover looks great. :) It's good to see Madonna's still in the game. Despite some mistakes over the past couple of years like collaborating with Britney Spears (oh Lord help us), and releasing American life, this album sounds promising. :) Hopefully the whole album's dance-pop.

Great cover art. I don't like her hair color though. It's hard to tell it's even her.

I agree, the hair color is certainly different. It's not as flattering as blonde hair looks on her, but I REALLY love the cover art!

By the way, thanks for posting the cover in the thread, Alice. :)
