Don't you mean "or" because some people like me haven't participated in last years SS (mainly because I wasn't a member yet) and I received and sent out a gift. So maybe only posters who have over 1000 post and are a frequent poster. I don't know you're the boss.

BTW - Thank you very much for the card, I got it tonight. At first I thought it was from work because my mom told me that it had no return address. So I was like "that can't be right because I already got a card from work." I love the drawing you did of Bambi. Did you sketch that yourself? It's really good. Thanks again it really made my day and have a merry Christmas!

I wasn't expecting to find anything in the mailbox yesterday. Boy was I surprised to find an envelope with no return address. Thank you for the card Luke! I got a kick out of the Goliath drawing! I smile just thinking about it. Merry Christmas!

It's a shame to have two deadbeats trying to screw someone out of a Christmas gift. They had to have known the lack of a gift in return wouldn't go unnoticed for too long. Will those two be joining ArtOfDisney as a "banned deadbeat" if they don't produce their gifts?

With all the hard work that Luke does each year with the Secret Santa and with all the participation we had this year, it is pretty good that only two are 'screw-ups'. That being said, it is really sad when someone signs up and then decides not to paricipate. It isn't fair to those who do, and it isn't fair to the rest of us UD members who try very hard to follow the rules.

You know who you are, and it would be well advised to get off your collective arses and get that gift and get it mailed right away. What makes you so special?

'Nuff said.................end of rant.

1000 posts seems like a little too much for me. 1000 posts is still a threashold some of the oldest members still havn't gotten to yet. Besides, a member named Tangela had over 1000 posts, and still didn't send a gift.

I would love to participate next year, but I don't think it will be happening. I like reading this thread because it is very nice to read about giving.

Yeah. I've participated two years in a row but don't have anywhere near 1000 posts. If polls & games posts were included then I'd be there possibly.

I don't the 1000 post thing would be that fair tbh as like castleinthesky said, it is alot of posts to get, and it doesn't show that you are reliable. I'd have thought that the trade section shows reliability more than the amount of posts someone has, but at the same time not everyone has used the section.

I think the only thing that would make people follow the rules, is implying some kind of temp or total banning if the gifts aren't given out, unless they inform Luke of a real reason why.

But I agree with Zoltack, it is totally up to Luke, and whatever he says goes naturally. :)

I think the number of posts is less important than the regularity and substance of them. I don't think anyone would want to be assigned someone who has posted 1000 one-word replies in Polls & Games, for instance, but by this regulation, such a member would be able to participate. A more reasonable guideline may be anyone suspected of creating multiple accounts in the past would be a good one not to allow. (Not going to drop any names here, but I blame myself for permitting this participant.) Or someone who has posted 20 or less times in the past year, perhaps. And then there is someone like Pluto Region 1 who joined just a couple of months ago who I feel like we've gotten to know and obviously came through in Secret Santa, which proves how it'd be wrong to exclude by registration date.

In any event, it's all something merely to ponder for the next 11 months. I can't believe that people would capitalize upon something like this to potentially get a free gift with no strings attached. Some holiday spirit, huh?

I'm going to give until the end of Tuesday (no mail delivery today) for the potential deadbeats' presents or e-mail explanations to come through. If/when they don't show up (and I'm not holding much hope for any but one of the remaining un-gifted), the offenders will be banned and as stated in the past, those who have yet to be recognized will be.

Merry Christmas! :santa:

Oh yes, and I'm glad to hear that people received and liked the cards. With such a large number of participants, it was a little time-consuming to write personal greetings, but something I felt was worth doing and I hoped would be appreciated. Some of the drawings were pretty bad - for that I apologize! :santa:

It is a shame that two people were kind enough to send out thoughtful gifts, and recieved nothing in return. Anyway, it's nice to see everyone else has recieved and sent their holiday gifts. I'll take this opportunity to send a happy holiday greeting from me to all of UD's wonderful members! Here's for next year!

Well I'm not going to let my potential "dead beat" santa ruin my holiday :)

I had a good christmas and totally appreciated the card Luke. :D

I'm definitely still participating again next year, even if my secret santa fails this year.

p.s. Apologies extended, Dave, however the anonymous secret santa wishes to remain anonymous for reasons of holiday whimsy  Santa can send gifts through the mail too....

I'm sorry that two people decided not to send their gifts. That's just completely wrong. Though I have to say that since no one has heard anything from these 2 people that maybe something happened and they were unable to get to a computer to let Luke know that the gift was going to be late or not sent at all.

I'm hoping that everyone had a wonderful holiday! :)

I was pleasantly..well, not "surprised" cause after having heard everyone else mentioning how they got their card, I figured I was due. And, well, it came today :D It also happened to be only the 2nd Christmas card I got this year. Thanks for the thought, Luke. :)

Well, I was surprised because I thought he was only sending cards to the people who were a part of sending that gift and card to him. If I had paid closer attention to who exactly posted when they each got his card, I would've realized that he was sending them out to everyone. Either way, I was surprised. :P

Your card was a total surprise to me, Luke. I appreciate that you took the time to write personal messages and drawings. The Mr. Incredible that you drew for me looks fantastic, and it really brightened my day.

Snuck onto Kram's computer during our Arizona vacation to read this, and woohoo, I'm gonna get a card in the mail from the Lukester!

Anyways, sure, I'll keep track of the SS next year, Lukester.
