I didnt think i would but i really liked brother bear and sometimes i do feel that sequels ruin films but maybe this one is different because this kind of film always generates a sequel... i think a sequel would be good, i dnt think it would ruin brother bear

Hmm....
Kind of a stupid move, really.
1.) It only recently came out, so there is only one generation of people who've seen it. The sequels that were more successful were around a long time so more people had seen it, therefore there were more people to buy and watch the sequels.
2.) It wasn't very profitable/successful to begin with, so it probably won't make much money with a sequel.
Maybe they're doing it so that the artists can keep their jobs?

Again...here we go...domestically maybe, but not worldwide. In some countries like Germany and Japan, BB was Disney's most profitable ever. It made over 150 million worldwide.TimonRoxMySox wrote: 2.) And as for America, let's not forget how much the DVD sales jumped up.
And yes, supposedly talks are now being made to get the ball rolling on the BB TV show.

There were alot of unanswered questions in brother bear so it only makes sense to make a sequel but why didnt they just make the brother bear story line in the first place not make way for a sequel... its like a book, not all of them have to have follow on books to be good

Just to put things in perspective, in those countries it passed Finding Nemo, Shrek and The Lion King in box office numbers...

Damn shame everything is based off American numbers for it to be considered a success.

I don't know how old this picture is or if it was posted before, but it appears to be Brother Bear II promo art. I just found it at that awesome Chinese site with all the logos and poster art. Can anyone read this? http://disney.jbug.net/Text/bear2.htm

It was discussed around 9 months ago here:Kram Nebuer wrote:I don't know how old this picture is or if it was posted before, but it appears to be Brother Bear II promo art. Though the link to the full "cover art" is no longer active, it was the same thing. Looks pretty fake, and since the plotline makes no mention of a family of bears, it's probably safe to say it is...fake.

This is scary!
I was searching old threads, and this was one of the ones that I was looking at, and then, just when I left this thread and went to general discussion, I found out the same exact thread I was looking at a couple minutes ago was bumped!
Anyway, I kinda would like a Brother Bear 2, but like I said before, I'm unimpressed with what they have so far!

Oh, Isidour, don't be that way. This actually looks to be one of the better sequels. And the plot seems very deep for a DTV. And remember, this is art from the upcoming 2006 Disney calendar. Don't assume this is how it'll look for the movie.
And so far Mandy Moore's been confirmed for it. And Melissa Ethridge is writing songs for it.
Zoltack, yeah same here. I hope Iger stops it in the future. This was more of Eisner's territory.

While I'll admit that some of the early sequels WERE cheapquels, and probably deserve the venom you heap upon them (the two Beauty and the Beast sequels; and more recently Cinderella 2) ALL of the DTV stuff has been getting steadily better.Zoltack wrote:Wow all of these sequels... they just not gonna stop!!!!
Eventhough I haven't seen Brother Bear I'm still outragged by all of these stupid sequels. If this keeps up in the year 2020 we'll have Cinderella 30 : Man What Were We Thinking.
I have no idea what this will be like, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the last few sequels. Although some of them can never match up to the originals story-wise, in terms of animation they have been steadily improving over the last few years. Again, I'll reserved my judgment until I see it.
After all, how many 2D films does the studio have left? I'm just enjoying the fact they are producing them at all.

Well, not to be rude, but no one is going to force you to watch the sequel.Dan05 wrote:Why does Disney have to make a sequel for every movie
Brother Bear is one of my favorites and I don't want a sequel ruining the great way it ended.
