Right now, I'm apt to think that customer service is more likely to have wrong information than the trailers that have gone on various DVDs, the website, and the official announcement. But I'm checking to find out if there is validity to this new claim.

Pals, DVDs don't "wear out" like VHS. You'd probably be better donating money to charity than buying a second copy if you already have the Collector's Editions.

Luke, this is Pals. He'd double-dip if they decided to re-release it as barebones with a glow in the dark slipcover and scratch and sniff disc art!

You trying to say something with my "UTB comment" about not wearing out the slipcover. How unoriginal.

Actually, Escapay, MMP will double dip to have all "region 1, non-bootleg" Disney animated movies. And owning all releases (Limited Issue, Gold Collection, Special Edition...Diamond Edition when HD gets released. :p)

Here's a question: Wouldn't it be easier if Disney just rereleased the Collector's Edition?

I mean they can release this copy, but can't they release the CE for the people who missed out on it and want more than this cheap 1-Disc set?

The collector's edition is not out of print, so why would they release the collector's edition? Its still 40 bucks, but IS STILL IN PRINT!!!!!!

You're probably confused, young Alan.

The Tarzan CE (and standard disc) has been out of print since January 2002.

Has anyone heard any more from Disney since this release is just a month away? Since I have no copy of Tarzan after Hurricane Charley I'm pretty much forced to buy it in spite of it possibly being a Not So Special Edition & not wanting to wait years for another new release. I just don't understand why they can't do the same thing they did with A Bug's Life & add a few new promos & kiddie games to the CE & reissue it in 2 disc form.

My contact in public relations says that everything he has says it is still two discs. Hopefully, a revised (and complete) press release will come soon and ease (or confirm) our fears. A single-disc re-release certainly doesn't make any sense.

I seriously see no possible way that Disney could release the trailer in so many places saying that it is two disc and then randomly dropping one of them off. The VERY recent Toy Story release even has a trailer on it that mentions a 2-disc special edition...I really don't think anyone needs to worry

I dont think that even Disney could make a mistake that large.

Well, considering Disney has released Tarzan as a 2-disc set pretty much everywhere else in the world and that it is one of their big profile titles, it is sure going to be surprising if they decide to release it as a single disc edition.
As a proud owner of the two original editions, I have no plans to upgrade it. :P

Does it make the old CE obsolete?

Post by aggietubagod »

I've read in a couple of places that the new Tarzan SE has all of the old special features from the old CE plus some. I figured that was an exaggeration, but no one ever really elaborated in those topics, so I'd figure I'd ask it here. If we have the old CE, is it gonna be worth it to get the new SE, and if anyone cares to elaborate, what's the special feature breakdown?

Tarzan Has to be 2 Disk

Post by jamminjake245 »

Okay, I know in the news section is says that Tarzan is now a single disk, but I think that is very wrong. Why? On all the DVDs and sites and everything it says that it is a 2 Disk Special Edition - - not 1!!
Wants Muppet Babies on DVD!!
Hopefully if Duckales and Rescue Rangers sell well we will get it!! Don't forget Gummi Bears!

This is truly baffling, if not a total surprise, as Disney has been a little sneaky with details on these. Surely Disney hasn't planned Tarzan as a single disc all along, and used the early misleading information to rack in more preorders. Either way, there doesn't seem to be any logic in scaling them back. I hope pre-orders are being cancelled left and right.
