Tarzan: Collector's Edition. Apparently, only one disc.
After removing the 2-Disc Special Edition label from the spine of the new cover art, I suspected that the new release would only be a one disc release.
The official website appears to support this:
http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/anima ... /main.html
It shows the DVD, with only one disc coming out of the case.
It looks like Disney is starting to drop the ball on their re-releases.

Re: Tarzan: Collector's Edition. Apparently, only one disc
That single-disc graphic predates pretty much everything else we've had on this title - fact sheet, final packaging artwork - and conflicts with the trailer. It would be very silly for this to be just one disc, but then the same can be said for "The New Groove Edition" which most signs point to being one disc.MadonnasManOne wrote:The official website appears to support this:

Well as long as we here in Portugal received a 2 discs Tarzan Special Edition, I think that you in America will receive 2 discs too!MadonnasManOne wrote:After removing the 2-Disc Special Edition label from the spine of the new cover art, I suspected that the new release would only be a one disc release.

They took us to a magical journey under the sea, they show us how a beautiful girl can look into a heart of a beast, they even made us fly on a magic carpet...

Luke, I'm sorry about that. I do not remember seeing the single-disc graphic, before.Luke wrote:That single-disc graphic predates pretty much everything else we've had on this title - fact sheet, final packaging artwork - and conflicts with the trailer. At any rate, the removal of the "2-Disc Special Edition" label from the new cover art prompted me to check the official website, and when I saw that single-disc graphic, I assumed that they must have decided to make this a one-disc affair.
Also, with The Emperor's New Groove coming, apparently as a one-disc release, I started thinking that Disney might be scaling back these Special Edition releases.
I truly hope that both film's get the two-disc treatment. I have the Tarzan: 2-Disc Collector's Edition, but I do not have TENG, and would LOVE for that to be a two-disc release, so I do not have to spend more to buy the current edition.

The trailer is still 2 disk, but the disk art was changed from the one disk to the two. Yes, it previously showed the tips of BOTH disks, but now just one..
If you check the disk art at ultimatedisney.com you can see that they are only using ONE of them.

I never understood Disney's desire to release TENG anyway; as there are already both 1 and 2-disc editions of the film, neither of which are OOP as far as I know. Also, with The Emperor's New Groove coming, apparently as a one-disc release, I started thinking that Disney might be scaling back these Special Edition releases.

I'm sure it will be a 2 discs edition! It wouldn't make any sense if it was another 1 disc edition!PatrickvD wrote:the trailer says 2-disc... I'd be REALLY dissapointed if it was a single disc. That would make NO sense whatsoever.
In the trailer they say that will be 2 disc special edition, beside here in Europe we received 2 discs, there's no reason for you in America to receive a single disc edition!

Well, America already has a 2-disc and a 1-disc version, so the chances of getting another 1-disc and the chances of getting another 2-disc are pretty equal. I'm still praying that it it will be a 2-disc edition. If Disney hasn't changed the trailer or removed it to stop confusion, I think it's safe to say it will remain a 2-disc edition.Gwildor wrote:In the trailer they say that will be 2 disc special edition, beside here in Europe we received 2 discs, there's no reason for you in America to receive a single disc edition!
Oy, I'm tired of typing "2-disc".

I e-mailed Disney regarding the upcoming Tarzan DVD; and unfortunately this is the response I recieved:
Perhaps there's still something we can do to change their minds.
What frustrates me to no end is why Disney is wasting their time and money releasing single-disc versions of movies which they already have 2-disc templates for. Or why they're bothering to re-release another 1-disc The Emperor's New Groove when both previous 1 and 2-disc DVDs are still available; why not simply start advertising the existing editions, and lower the price on the 2-disc.
On top of that, they repeatedly delay releasing proper 2-or-more-disc Special Editions of movies which haven't had proper treatment yet (ie. Lilo & Stitch, which it now seems won't appear until at least next year). What kind of bumbling fool is in charge of their marketing department these days, anyway?
If this doesn't change, I have to say I'll be severely dissapointed. I was looking forward to finally getting the 2-disc Collector's Edition, having missed it the first time around.Andrew,
Thank you for your e-mail regarding TARZAN. We appreciate your interest.
TARZAN Special Edition is tentatively scheduled for release October 18 as a
single disc DVD.
Again, thank you for taking the time to contact us.

I was afraid of this. They have screwed up, ROYALLY, with this, and TENG! The sad thing is, the trailers for Tarzan say it is a 2-Disc release. So, not only have they screwed up (if it is a one-disc release), but they are misleading consumers, as well.TM2-Megatron wrote:I e-mailed Disney regarding the upcoming Tarzan DVD; and unfortunately this is the response I recieved:

I'm happy with my Tarzan: 2-Disc Collector's Edition, but I am sure there are many who didn't get to pick it up. I also wanted to pick up TENG, when it was released, but since it looks to be a single-disc affair, I'll pass.

Awwwww, I was going to post that. You sure do like that joke, don't you?Timon/Pumba fan wrote:NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Well, I can't say I'm happy right now. I don't have the Tarzan Collector's Edition, and I would appreciate it if Disney would have just re-released the collector's edition so that we wouldn't get ripped off like this. I was really looking forward to this, and as another member mentioned, the public is going to be pissed about the false advertizing.
Since these so called "special editions" contain basically nothing new, I'm starting to think that the only reason Disney bothered to make these new DVDs instead of releasing the old ones is to update their sneak peaks section and wrap them in some new packaging.

Wow- please say this isn't true!
They are really pushing... something (patience, maybe?)... by telling consumers this is a 2-Disc, and then apparently scaling it back.
I'm hoping that your email is a mistake on the marketing department's part. If not, I'll just have to put the OOP CE back on my wishlist.
