maybe because of the song "He's a Tramp" it's one of the more well known songs in the movie, so i could imagine that would be why. She also serves as one of the climax's in the movie, therefore i'd consider her a very important character.

I don't like the look of this cover that much. It kind of seems busy (as others have said), with the characters looking randomly flung around the canvas (and not perfectly drawn as well) and the logo in the middle looks like it was done in Microsoft Paint. I really hope that they fix this, or at least give a better cover to look at in Region 2 (like with Bambi). I would have really liked a cover like the Sleeping Beauty one in Region 1...the timeless spaghetti kiss scene at the top (with both lips meeting too :D ). Then the logo in a little box in the middle with the cats pearing over it and Joe and Tony playing their instruments at either side. Then at the bottom, we find the dogs making love signs in cement in the park at night. Ah, l'amour...

Needless to say, I am more excited by the mention of the bonus features on the link on the main page (you didn't go there first, did you? :headshake: ). I too hope that this gets a gift set afterall, although I bet it won't as it's a quiet Walt era classic (who likes old movies? ). I also second ichabod in wanting the rest of the Disneyland show on the Pluto set. One thing confuses me though; where did everyone read about the fullscreen version being included as well? :?

I love the cover. Will Lady and the Tramp be getting a giftset? This is my favorite Disney film and I'm hopining they are giving it a giftset. Will it have a commentary track? I'm glad Disney is finaly including a storyboard mode with one of there own fims.
Did Bambi get a gift set...um... No so LATT isn't getting on either.
...but Cinderella is getting one.

I think only holiday Platinums will get a gift set... March is a much less profitable period of the year....

Yup that's true but it's such a shame. I like 'Cinderella' and 'The Little Mermaid' but I'm not as interested in buying giftsets of those as I am 'Lady and the Tramp' and 'Bambi'.

I'm saving all of my opinions on the supplements/aspect ratio for the press release thread. I'm going to have a ginormous post there.

Poppins#1 wrote:According to the internet movie database Lady and the Tramp was released in CinemasScope and mono sound. It also states that the aspect ratio is 2.35:1 which would be correct since magnetic stereo was not used.
We've already found out that the 2.35 DVD was cropping part of the sides by finding more image on the edges of the pan scanned DVD from Europe

That a film is released in one format doen't nescesarily mean it was shot in that format, also Lady And The Tramp, being an animated film, started production earlier than when Cinemascope 2.35 Optical replaced 2.55 Magnetic so it would have started as a 2.55 production and it's not a matter of just changing print formats, shooting for Optical involved recentering the aperture image, and film alredy shot on Magnetic ratio either ends being cropped on one side or having to be opticaly recentered on the prints or intemediate elements for simmetrical cropping of the 2.55 -> 2.35 sides.

In fact, it was actually the information you gave me about the hybrid magneto-optical prints that made me see why Tramp seemed to be cropped on the wrong side and cleared any doubts i had about this! :-D

Point well taken Deathie Mouse. I didn't know that European versions had been found that reveal missing side information. It may very well be that the original camera negative was indeed 2.55:1. And it would certainly be cool if we could see that completely un-cropped version, since the only version that has been released theatrically is the 2.35:1 optical track prints.

Hi there!
I'm new around here and I'd like to say hello to everyone!

First of all I want you to forgive me for my english, but I am from Portugal in Europe and my language is portuguese, so sometimes I may write/say something wrong!

Getting to the point: the cover art is not amazing but as far as I am concerned, it is quite fine!
Here in Portugal the DVD's releases are different from the USA one's, so I am worried that "Lady and the Tramp" will receive a one disc edition here in Portugal, since that it happened with "Snow White", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Alice in Wonderland".

As long as our edition has two discs, I don't really care about the cover!

Ok, the cover is cute and it´s one of the most beloved and memorable scenes of the movie, but isn´t too crowded?

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I am very glad to share my opinion about the disney movies with people from so far away!

I've been a disney animation fan since I first saw The Little Mermaid on the theatres when I was a kid! That become my favourite disney movie!

But about the Lady and the Tramp, that also is going to be released next year, it's a very good movie with some of the most beloved disney characteres. I had the VHS tape and I saw it many times when I was a child! I can't wait for the DVD release, that will be the first release of the Lady and the Tramp here in Portugal!
