I have a few problems with it.
First, its too busy...Too many characters squeezed in.
Second, Joe is too tall. He was shorter compared to Tony, but perhaps that's a perspective problems.
Third, another perhaps perspective thing...the table and everything on it is real small compared to Lady and Tramp. Like everything is dog-sized.
And worst....WTF is with Trusty?? He looks high.
Certainly not a bad DVD cover, I'm just nit-picky tonight

I like the artwork and all but it's not my favorite. I prefer the Cinderella one.
Also, did anyone notice that it didn't say Platium Edition anywhere? It says Limited Edition. I wonder about that.

I think Tramp looks a little weird. It's him, but it's not. His face is shortened or something. He looks a little younger than he should.Siren wrote:I have a few problems with it.

I also think the DVD cover is "too busy" but it suits the movie it is a cover of by reflecting the style of the movie. Every frame had a lot of detail (okay, except the ones with the Calendar pages) and the movie seemed like a moving turn-of-the-century American painting. It reminds me of those Americana 1000 piece puzzles they sell at Target. Though overall, I think the cover is nice and the little nitpicky things we picked out are bearable.
A trend I noticed with the DVD covers is the color of the Platinum banners. In all the movies dealing mainly with humans (Snow White, BatB, Aladdin, Cinderella), the Platinum banner is, well, platinum. With the movie starring mainly animals (TLK, Bambi, L&T), the banner is golden. I wonder if this is by accident or on purpose...

Here it is for people who were too lazy to go to the main page.

I love this coverart. It's one of the few PE covers I like. Unlike Aladdin's PE cover, it's actually well-drawn. I see they're still using a golden banner for their animal-related Platinums. We know that the "New 2-Disc DVD" banner will be replaced with the "Platinum Edition" banner, but other than that, I don't see anything else being changed.
Ell oh ell at some of the character designs though.
Off-topic: Doesn't the phrase "2-disc DVD" seem to cancel itself out?

LATT Cover
Awwww....what a perfect cover. It's so cute
Yeah, I agree that they have a bit too many people in it, but it's like Disney to want to get all the major characters in the cover somehow.

Tramp does look younger, you're right. It is a good cover, but I sometimes wish they would do better.
And I am very nitpicky because this was my favorite as a kid, watch-it-over-and-over-again-to-the-point-I-go-blind kinda movie, which makes me biased when I am looking at that cover, because I tend to notice those little details. My favorite was the Masterpiece cover. I liked their eyes and expression in that and it focused on them only (with Si and Am on the logo as with this DVD cover). I dunno, but when a movie is named something like, 'Lady and the Tramp', I like to just see those two title characters on the front cover. Save the supporting cast for the back.
Perhaps it was all those pain medications Trusty was taking for his broken leg that caused his high-look. I know when I broke my arm, they gave me some stuff that made me high as a kite.

I love the cover art! A HUGE improvement over that last hideous one!
Aside from not having the "Platinum Edition" banner on it, it looks great. I personally thought the characters looked fine and they were pasted in there perfectly.
Here are my favorite Platinum cover arts in order:
1. Aladdin
2. Lady and the Tramp
3. The Lion King
4. Bambi
5. Snow White
6. Beauty and the Beast
I can't wait for Lady and the Tramp!

The first picture on the news page in the banner shows part of the disk art and it looks like it actually says Platinum Edition.

I think it's a perfectly nice cover. But I'm really more interested in what's inside the box. "Lady and the Tramp" is a movie I have been dying to have restored and remasted. The earlier DVD was a 1990's letterbox transfer ported over from the laserdisc. It will be nice to see this title get the same fantastic restoration process that has reinvigorated other recent platinum line titles.
Luke mentions that the press release states the disc will contain the widescreen and "pan and scan" versions and that the specially prepared "academy frame" version is likely not to be used. I think it's just a case of the marketing department not knowing what's going on and calling the full frame version pan-and-scan when it most likely will be the 1.37:1 academy frame version prepared by the Disney studio back in 1955. It makes absolutely no sense that they would crop the CinemaScope version when a correct academy frame version already exists and underwent a laserdisc restoration of its own in the 1990s.
