Bump. Slipcover confirmed. :P
Same disgusting cover in the mean time. Pitty... Region 2 usually offers some classy stuff.

My main beef with it is the fact that in a few years it'll show its age... Did they have to slap the "10th Anniversary Edition" so shamelessly? Shame really. The potential for cover arts for this movie is endless!

Yeah, they could've done so much with the characters, it looks like some little kid has cut out pictures of Woody and Buzz, and stuck them on an old piece of wallpaper  *even if it is the TY wallpaper :P *

It just offers them another way of selling it in the future if they categorise this edition so precisely as 10th anniversary. We had the single disc editions, then the wonderful 'Ultimate Toy Box' (note: not ''Ultimate Edition') now the 10th anniversary edition, and someday we will get an 'Ultimate Edition'...after we've had the 'Collector's Edition' and before the 'Ultimate Aniversary Edition' or the 'Ultimate Collector's Edition'.

Personally, I'm going to celebrate Toy Story's 10th anniversary by rewatching every minute of the 'Ultimate Toy Box'.
Just release every Disney full-length toon on DVD - now, damn you!

According to www.dvdcompare.net the UK Toy Story-DVD has NO DTS, although it's mentioned on the package. :(

Correct. No DTS. Even though the package claims it has "Disney/Pixars First Ever DTS 5.1 Audio Track". Really, what was Monsters, Inc. A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo? Proof Buena Vista Home Entertainment UK have just done a lazy Cut and Past job on the packaging. :(

Oh well, at least it has an Audio Descriptive track (and yes, I do consider that a plus).

I bought the DVD boxset and watched both films and for what it's worth I think both films have come out of it fantastically. My *only* gripe is not even about the DVD release but more one of the films - Toy Story 1, now I know it was 10 years ago and stuff like 'Finding Nemo' really outshines the animation but Scud in the film still to me, sticks out as really unrealistic looking...he still looks very polygonised and I'd hoped they might have been able to smooth it over for this release.

Besides that though I love it...I still think the second film is better, the first is simple and very classic but the second one to me has more humour, a better plot even if it does go over ground that the first one did (though this is more noticeable when watching them in sequence).

Brought Toy Story yesterday (will be buying Toy Story 2 later in the week when i can afford it), both come with slipcovers, unless you buy the box set.
There are no pomotional stands, posters or anything in HMV, Woolworths or Asda. Woolworths are only selling the box set in which they have just put in the childrens section, HMV have also done the same though you can buy them seperately but you'll have to look for them as they have just put them with the rest of the disney dvds. Asda sell all 3, and they are all in the childrens chart.
Quite pathetic really in my opinion, if you wernt a disney fan and unless you didnt have the internet you would have no idea the films have been re-released. Shame really i think with some decent promotion it could have at least gone top 5. It'll be lucky if it gets into the top 20.

Yeah, I just got the 4-disc UK box set, and I read about the DTS-tracks, put the discs in only to find that it isn't there. WTF! So I go here and plan on starting a thread, seeing it's already been done. This just sucks. I was hoping that we didn't have to go through all this again (anybody remember the booklets for Emperor's New Groove and Dinosaur which claimed that there would be DTS? Not in R2UK, but at least they didn't list it on the packaging!) DAMN! This is just so FUBAR I don't know where to begin!

Is it just me, or does it take a-g-e-s for menus to change on the bonus discs, and sometimes, the screen goes black between menu transitions?

Is it just me or does the Toy Story disc pause for an ever so slight fraction of a second a couple of times?

About 1 minute in when Andy stands up it seems to pause, also when Hannah exits the room after the tea party with Buzz and also when the toys from sids room go out the door, when they land in the bush there is also a very small pause.

You may not notice this if you are not looking for it, does this happen anyone elses?

DTS?

Post by MattDean »

FROZONE, I haven't yet got round to buying the new TOY STORY discs so I'm not 100% sure what I'm about to tell you will work.

On a number of R2 disney titles there's no mention of a DTS track on the packaging, BUT if you go to the language selection menu and select English, sometimes you are offered a choice of 5.1 OR DTS!!! I'm pretty sure ENG does have a DTS track that you can choose to listen to in this way :?

As I say, I'm not certain but give it a try if you haven't already;)

Thought some of you might be interested in purchasing the Toy Story SE Box Set for only 19.99 through Amazon UK. Click here for the link. Already ordered mine! :D Great price in my opinion, even if it does exclude those wonderful slipcovers.

That's not the case with the UK-release. I've checked the whole DVD and there's no DTS track.
