Book thieves are on the loose!
LONDON - Two British men were charged on Saturday with firearms offenses after allegedly trying to sell a stolen copy of the new Harry Potter book to a tabloid newspaper before its release.

Police were called to an address in Kettering in central England on Friday after reports of a shot being fired.

The Sun newspaper said the incident came as the men tried to sell one of its reporters a stolen copy of “Harry Potter And the Half-Blood Prince” for 50,000 pounds ($90,880).

Northamptonshire police confirmed two men from Kettering had been charged in connection with the incident.

“A 37-year-old has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and handling a stolen book,” a police spokesman said.

“A 19-year-old man has been charged with the theft of the book and a possession of an imitation firearm intending to cause fear of violence.”

The latest Harry Potter book, set to be released on July 16, is the sixth installment in the hugely popular series about a boy wizard written by British author J.K. Rowling.

The fifth adventure, published in 2003, made publishing history by selling 5 million copies within 24 hours.

Orders for the hugely-anticipated sixth book made it the top seller on Amazon.com in the United States and Britain months before its publication.

Rowling’s legal firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain issued a statement saying it had obtained an injunction against the two arrested men.

“This order was made following our client’s discovery that a copy of the forthcoming Harry Potter Book, Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, had been obtained by unauthorized persons who had subsequently offered the book to newspaper journalists,” the statement said.

The Sun said it had intended to expose the men’s attempt to cash in on stolen copy which was now safely in the possession of police.

Police said the two suspects had been granted bail and were due to appear before magistrates early next week.

I'm excited for the book! I still have yet to read, "Order of the Phenoix" I think I'll read it sometime since I always have liked Harry Potter. But I've never been obsessed with it!

As soon as I get off a plane and land in Manchester, NH I will be going to the Barnes and Noble to pick up my copy of Harry Potter #6. I arrive at the airport at about 10 or 11 pm so my aunt and I are going straight to the bookstore. It's only ten minutes or so away from the airport. I'm so excited! I love midnight madness parties!

It's funny- I was in WDW when Harry Potter #5 came out... now I'm going to be there when Harry Potter #6 comes out. Maybe I'm just there too much. :donald: Needless to say, I'll be picking it up down there.

I'm psyched.

I have never read any of the books in less than a week. (well, maybe except for the first 2 books) I should try to read this one as fast as I can, and maybe read the whole series over... Should be fun. :D

Bump!

Zero hour is nearly upon us, and I will be leaving for the store in about an hour's time. I'm going to go on lockdown and read it this weekend, so I will likely be back late this weekend or early next week.

I'm picking my copy up tomorrow in the morning and reading through everything in one day (stopping only for bathroom breaks, dinner, and a shower). The reasons I plan on finishing it in one day are because a) HP is my version of crack, and b) I plan on spending most of Sunday (Disneyland's 50th anniversary) watching theme park videos, listening to park music, going through my Walt Disney World Explorer CD-Rom, and watching Pirates of the Caribbean (along with its bonus material). Before all that, though, I'm seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, so Sunday's pretty packed for me, meaning I need to cram Half-Blood Prince into Saturday.

Thanks. :D I read Order of the Phoenix in a day and a half, and since Half-Blood Prince is slightly shorter, I think I can squeeze it into a day, even if means reading until 3 am or so.
