I know, that's precisely the point! How come a series that was always bad since the 90's didn't improve in anything until now.Timon/Pumba fan wrote:IMO this title should be called "Oh my God... I frankly always hated it. That past the birthstage, colors are somehow assigned to children. Girls like pink. Boys like blue. Why even bother?
It's sexist because there is so much pressure with the pink color. Would you dress your boy in pink? Not likely. Why exactly? Because society dictates it? But why?
I've seen a few examples of men wearing pink and they were pretty manly looking to me. Bret Hart's uniform was just about all pink. Married man, happily. Couple of kids. Has female fans and straight male fans. No one suggests he's gay or anyless a man.
And fiction guy, but Gambit from X-Men wore a little pink. The Raging Cajun who fell in love with untouchable Rogue. His fans, both guys and girls, don't attempt to say anything about it.
So sue me for hating color coding. My daughter has boys and girls toys. Her barbies are next to her dinosaurs. She wore a boys shirt today. Has several. But if a boy asks his dad for a baby doll, most freak out. Why? Because society dictates boys should play with toy guns and Spiderman and girls should have Barbie and baby dolls. But it's okay for girls to also play with racecars and tools. Most young girls are thought to be mavricks if they do. But if a boy plays with a baby doll, he's a sissy.
Color should not dictate on sex or race. That's why I feel it is sexist.

I loved the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It only really sucked when Kimberly left the show and they replaced her with Kat. I still liked Kat, but the show just totally sucked after that. No actually, it was okay for just a little while longer. When they go rid of Rocky/Aisha/Adam, and by that time eveyrone else was gone but Billy. Jason came back and then went away again... that pissed me off- he was SO HOTT!!! Anyway, when only 1 original cast member was left, it sucked beyond any kind of repair.
You have to love it for it's camp / cheese appeal, for which, there is plenty. I mean, COME ON! People like Full House, The Sopranos, Who's the Boss- CHASING FARRAH for god's sake! Though I don't know who would actually admit to that.

The Might Morphin Power Rangers...or something like that.
Ahh, I remember being addicted to that!
Wasn't RITA the evil villain? or something?
And then the guy who talked to the Rangers was just a liquidy face..
and that robot! Was his name Alpha?
I can't really remember!
But this generation of Power Rangers isn't as great as what it used to be.

Power Rangers DinoThunder was pretty good but the first season was good!

The only thing that I didn't like about the origanal Power Rangers was that the shows were basically the same. I mean the show starts off with the Power Rangers doing stuff as teenagers. While they are doing this an evil lady from outerspace "what's her face" is spying on them pondering how she'll destroy them. She creates a monster and beams it to the surface of Earth and it starts a riot. Then the Power Rangers come to stop it but they get their asses kicked. Then the monster become gigantic so the Power Rangers use there massive robots to finally destroy it. Then the evil lady gets pissed off again.
This is probably the main reason why I stopped watching Power Rangers. That and I was becoming more mature and I didn't really care anymore.
Hey, Siren, you can this the stereotype, racism, thing to your list:
Why didn't the yellow ranger, a girl, have a skirt like the other girl (pink) ranger?
I always thought they were stereotyping assuming all Asian girls must be tomboys.
But moving on to a happy thought..
I remember Zordon now!
Thanks magicalwands!

That's coincidence, and based upon... what should I call it... not stereotypes or generalizations....Siren wrote:I HATED that show. As a kid and now as an adult. Gargoyles was out at the same time and was so much better. I always wondered what possessed millions of children to watch that dribble. Not to mention it always seemed racist and sexist to me.
The first girl...wow, look, she's pink! That's because EVERY girl on this Earth says pink is their favorite color!![]()
And guess what!!! The black ranger...he's really black!!!![]()
And the yellow ranger...she's Asian!! Say it isn't so!!![]()
Why wasn't the red ranger American Indian?
Well, my point is that asians aren't truly yellow, some people just labeled them like that, and black people aren't black, they're brownish... and again it's just the way some people call them.
If they were truly racist, they would have never cast people from diverse races. If the characters were truly racist, the rangers wouldn't hang out with each other.
In that case, the White Ranger would have been an albino.

same here...i didn't even know they were here.Dan05 wrote:The only Power Rangers I ever liked was The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. But that was when I was younger.
I never even knew Power Rangers was still around.
I was a Might Morphin Power Rangers FREAKKKK in 4th grade. I was 9 at the time and I LOVED them! I still remember all the characters, Kimberly, Trini, Tommy, Jason, Zack, and Billy. Jason was hot and I secretly thought Billy was cute! shhhh!
Dude, those were the days! I remember playing power rangers during recess!

now to a matter of...
Will they please release the seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ? If only they knew how many people would buy it (I think). Wouldn't you ?
And the ones that are already released sort of have really cheap looking cases so I'm not too ready to bid on them yet.
OMG, i totally would, even though i know the acting would be HORENDOUS! You just don't notice those things when you're younger. I have a good example of this. I used to LOVE Sweet Valley High in the 6th grade and was so pumped to get it on DVD a month or so back, but when i sat down to watch, i was like, "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" The acting was more than bad, it was awful! Well, for nostalgic reasons i still like it, but i can only imagine what Season 1 of Power Rangers would be like.....i was 9 at that time....no judgement whatsoever!

When did Sabons in ass. with Fox Kids become part of Disney? Now they show it on Toon Disney Channel. Why? Why is it not on Fox any more and how did it become part of Disney?
Thanks, Jessica London

I was about 12 when I got addicted to it. I was a late-comer. But I outlasted the people who got me hooked. I'm still a fan of the original series. I wish they would put that out on DVD, 20th Century Fox. If they don't like it, sell the frickin' rights to Lions Gate, damn it. I would buy it The Day it was released! Anchor Bay would be even better, they have all those really tacky Hercules, Xena, Highlander, Renegade series'. And they're distributing Fox's stuff already, it's a perfect marriage!
