Nala wrote:But aren't the VHS eventually gonna go the way of the Beta? We have a combo DVD/VHS as I also do home videos so I need the VHS of a VCR. I've changed a lot of movies that I had to DVD and sold the VHS to a local video store. I like the DVDs.
I've thought about that, but as I can find the official releases of these movies in the stores I don't see any reason for porting these aged movies to DVD's. The quality doesn't get better (or does it?) and you don't have any extras.

VHS's and VCR's aren't gonna last forever, the way I see it VHS is gonna be absolutly obsolete in the next 5 years. Just like vinal, it will disappear. I wonder what comes next after DVD's?
That's exactly what my Mom thinks. She think the quality of the sound and picture are exactly the same! She is so old fashion though!

The sound isn't the same and picture quality is better. Watching The Incredibles last night, we thought we were actually in a movie theatre. The sound is really good.

Actually vinyl is making a come back. And Beta didn't last as long as vhs. You can still buy vhs tapes for $3-$5 dollars in some bargain bins. I guess if you have the money to replace all your vhs tapes with dvd then great. But I choose to keep my vhs tapes until they die out. We have almost all the James Bonds on vhs that's a lot of scratch if we went out and bought them all on dvd.

I sell them to a video store up here. Recently I sold 15 and got $34 for them.

I don't want to type out all the VHS movies; it would probably be easier to list the ones I don't have.

I have currently about 500 Disney VHS

At one time or another I've had just about every tape Disney has made (there are a few that have eluding me so far)

The tapes that I have listed on my ebay store below is only a portion of tapes. Most of the ones for sale are duplicates.

Somehow I missed this thread when it first debuted. Ah, well, here's my list:

Black Diamond Classics:
Pinocchio (I'm counting it as a Classic despite it not saying so because it was released in that era, and the spine even has Pinocchio inside a diamond)
Fantasia (same as Pinocchio)
Bambi
Alice in Wonderland
Peter Pan
Sleeping Beauty
One Hundred and One Dalmatians
The Sword in the Stone
The Jungle Book
Robin Hood
The Rescuers
The Fox and the Hound
The Great Mouse Detective
The Little Mermaid
The Rescuers Down Under
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin

Masterpiece Collection:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Fun and Fancy Free
Cinderella
Alice in Wonderland (replaced Black Diamon Edition)
Lady and the Tramp
Sleeping Beauty (replaced Black Diamond edition)
The Aristocats
The Black Cauldron
Oliver & Company
The Lion King
Pocahontas
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Hercules
Mulan
Tarzan (Ok, it's not really part of this collection, but it's my last animated classic VHS, so I wasn't going to make a whole other category for this one)

Live-Action:
Mary Poppins
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
The Jungle Book
The Santa Clause
Hocus Pocus
101 Dalmatians
The Parent Trap

Direct-to-Video:
The Return of Jafar
Aladdin and the King of Thieves
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin
Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
The Lion King II: Simba's Pride
Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves

Other:
Disney Sing-Alongs: Heigh-Ho
Disney Sing-Alongs: Friend Like Me
Mickey's Christmas Carol
A Disney Christmas Gift
Toy Story
The Spirit of Mickey

Nice collectins everyone. The only Video Home System tape I own is the 1998 tape of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. I don't even own the Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast or the Lion King on VHS.

Nice collection Cordy_Biddle.

I recived The Lion King Deluxe Box edition today. This set comes with a portfolio of lithographs, a special Circle of Life epigraph and "The Making of" VHS tape. I won it for about $20 USD on eBay. It still has the shrink wrap around the box. The other VHS tape I own is Simba's Pride.

Sorry, I haven't taken any photos of my collection yet.

Hmmm. I think the only ones I still have that are complete with clamshell case and all are:

Pete's Dragon
Bedknobs & Broomsticks
The Lion King
Cinderella

And then there's a Sleeping Beauty Diamond Collection VHS, but it was bought used and there's no original case.

I actually had a surprisingly few number of Disney VHS movies. I don't know how I watched them all the time. I guess we just rented a whole lot. :?

I've finally gotten round to posting the Disney videos that I currently have! I believe that I had a few more which we must have sold/given to charity. Here we go (I'll try and do it in order of recieving, which will be in UK video release order)...

Animated Classics:
Sleeping Beauty
Fantasia
Alice in Wonderland
Cinderella
Peter Pan
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Pinocchio
The Lion King
The Fox and the Hound
The Aristocats
101 Dalmatians
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers
Lady and the Tramp
Mulan
Fantasia 2000
The Little Mermaid

Other:
Sing Along Songs: Zip-a-dee-doo-dah
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
A Walt Disney Christmas
Sing Along Songs: Disneyland Fun
Goofy's All Star Olympics
Toy Story
Sing Along Songs: I Love to Laugh
101 Dalmatians (live action)
Toy Story 2

Taped off TV:
Robin Hood
The Sword in the Stone
Return to Oz
Song of the South 8)
I believe we may have some others in this category or maybe not; we also had taped copies of Dumbo, Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Pete's Dragon and A Bug's Life. I recently threw out some blank tapes to make for space, and these may or may not have all gone in the bin. It doesn't matter that much, as I already have/will buy these on DVD.

The old Disney videos' have a wonderful way of taking me back to my childhood, when a good day included me walking to the local videostore and picking up a Slush Puppy and a Disney video.
