Post by ThiagoPE »

Some times i really prefer the time of the vhs because, at least, our movies come in it original version (not widescreen, but with the original images and audio)

i need to recognize, i like a lot the dvd, but i also like a lot the vhs, was a very good the time when the vhs reign.

There is my VHS collection

Well, I used to have a big collection of Disney VHS, but I sold most of them to buy the DVDs. Well, I think I bought more DVDs in the last four years than I bought VHS' in 10 years.

Well, I like the old videos for nostalgic reasons, but I don't see a lot of reasons to keep them, except in some cases where the original films aren't available on DVD (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast) or they still weren't released (Bambi, Cinderella, Aladdin).

I have about 20 Disney VHS films that I have no intention of letting go of, if for no other reason then the one you brought up. They are the originals.

i have all the animated classics from snow white to mulan, and the spirit of mickey vhs. i don't think i could ever part with them. it took me a lot of hard work to get all those, and also because of the same reason given before, to have the originals. it's nice to be able to go back and forth between the dvd's and vhs's and compare things.

Yeah same here although I am seriusley considering transfering some of the movies that I do have on VHS that I dont see getting a DVD realse on to DVDs since my aunt has the player that can record on to DVD because I would hate for the tape not to work someday and the movies to be lost. I mostly want to transfer my Sprit of Mickey VHS (gotta love the mouse :D! )

Wow, this thread really got yanked from the archives. Isn't there a more recent thread with everyone posting their VHS/DVD collections?

I would only buy a Disney on dvd if it were a special edition, or I didn't have it on vhs already. Or if my vhs copy gets wrecked. So far all of my vhs tapes have lasted. I have way more vhs tapes than dvds it's probably the reason that a lot of stuff I have on vhs isn't available on dvd yet. Although I've given away two of my Disneys videos when I bought them on dvd. I think I'll keep the rest for keepsake.

Well my parents have pratically all of the Disney films on VHS. My mom got annoyed at me because I bought the Bambi PE and she's like "oh we already have that movie why did you go and buy that?" She got annoyed at my dad too who bought Apollo 13 on DVD. VHS's and VCR's aren't gonna last forever, the way I see it VHS is gonna be absolutly obsolete in the next 5 years. Just like vinal, it will disappear. I wonder what comes next after DVD's?

That sounds a littöe bit like my dad who neither wants to upgrade anything from VHS to DVD, I mean anything. It's stupid because we have some 10 year old VHS-tapes where a movie is recorded and when I say I'm going to buy that on DVD he get's upset.

But aren't the VHS eventually gonna go the way of the Beta? We have a combo DVD/VHS as I also do home videos so I need the VHS of a VCR. I've changed a lot of movies that I had to DVD and sold the VHS to a local video store. I like the DVDs.
