Re: The Little Mermaid Discussion

I'm going through some villain-related videos by someone on YouTube named ColinLooksBack (that and watching workprints of the climax again, sometimes I watch them). I learned a few things I didn't know, some which might escape me now, although I'll try to remember them all. One was that apparently P...

Re: Cinderella Discussion

I thought it mostly looked the same. There's really just the separation (whatever you call it) at the center and the bow on her chest is a little larger. The silver dress also has that separation, so maybe that's why they left it off the pink dress, to differentiate them more? I don't know extensive...

Re: Moana (Live-Action)

Looks like the Naomi Scott Jasmine dolls were just as bad, both made the heads way too large. Which is odd because the Lily James Cinderella was not quite that bad, just a too long neck, and Yara Shahidi Tinkerbell one is a bit odd. The Elle Fanning one wasn't bad at all, actually. They improved wit...

I thought the dress did look mostly like those three? I always liked the pink dress for the most part.

Re: Moana (Live-Action)

I don't remember uncanny Emma Watson dolls?? :? Or is this that thing where people randomly attack some other (ahem, "White") actor because a person of color or a movie with people of color is being criticized--over anything, in any way, at all--again? Just going by years on this forum, th...

I liked it more to begin with, but it's still okay. I assume they added the flourish on the H to balance out the crescent.

Re: Alice in Wonderland Discussion

Watched it the other night...looked so different. Just shocking to see such an old film look so sleek really, and yet often the colors could be very dull, I can understand why Disney had altered it over time and yet I prefer to have a film in its original state. I know the '50s films were somewhat l...

Re: The Little Mermaid Discussion

But you know, $100 isn't too bad considering it would've been near $50 at the time. I'll get the Sleeping Beauty, TP&TF, Frozen / II, B&tB, and Mulan steelbooks eventually over time. Some covers I wish they'd do, if they ever to give them new steelbooks down the line: TLM - The original pala...

Re: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (Live-Action)

Interesting. I wonder if it'll include Ortensia. I'd only recently learned that Oswald had a female counterpart just like Mickey with Minnie and Donald with Daisy.

Re: The Princess and the Frog Discussion - Part III

I like Tiana, Naveen, Charlotte, and Facilier about equally. Then Ray and Lawrence. Really, I felt that way about Tangled, Pocahontas, and Snow White--really don't like very much beyond the protagonist in those films (Maximus, Grandmother Willow, and a few songs). I also found Mama Odie disappointin...

From my experience at university, they didn't teach critical race theory, although it was a subset within a textbook on literary criticism. I don't think they teach critical race theory outside legal branches...

Re: The Little Mermaid Discussion

Yes, you're right, the re-release poster also spotlighted the gorgeous palace, too. How they went so off-the-rails barely two decades from 1997. That B&tB poster is sort of terrible though... At least to me. I do lean towards it mostly being a M&C thing though, because TP&TF also had one...

Re: Alice in Wonderland Discussion

Maybe that's why the recent TSitS release from the DMC (RIP) still featured the terrible previous restoration? Hopefully a 4K release in the future might actually feature the correct restoration that's currently streaming only! :float:

Re: The Little Mermaid Discussion

The nontroversy rumors of old about the spires are the only reason they did that. They took one of the most gorgeous locales in all of Disney films--so much so that the entire score is built around stressing the reveal of its magnificence--and turned it into something you don't even remember. At lea...

Re: Hocus Pocus 3

I guess I'd only really be excited for this if they brought Ortega back. 2 just was.... well, it was okay. Not terrible, worth owning (if they ever put it on Blu-ray*), but it was a letdown in a lot of ways. Quite in contrast to Devil Wears Prada 2 which was so so good, I was pretty surprised it end...

Re: The Little Mermaid Discussion

I figured you'd prefer that just from past conversations. And you have a better chance than I do, unfortunately, since the original poster has the dreaded palace with the, gasp, phallic towers!!! Just like they turned the palace into an ugly mound in the remake. Because the company's lost its damn m...

Re: Tangled (Live-Action)

A racebent character means absolutely nothing to anyone. These are nothing but empty and hollow tag lines designed to give Disney good PR--they had hoped so anyway, although it didn't turn out that way. Particularly when it concerns a *remake* character in a film that flops. An original charac...
