Re: Tangled (Live-Action)
Except Toy Story 5 and Frozen /4 are sequels. Frozen's original was in 2013, Toy Story's was 20 years earlier than that. Anyway, it's s stone cold fact that they picked the composer for Wish based off of identity and it resulted in a mediocre soundtrack because they put hiring someone qualified seco...

Re: Tangled (Live-Action)
I should have said--checklist first policy isn't just affecting performance of their recent films (although that is probably the most important point to the company, I know), it's affecting the quality of their films, which is more important to me. Checklists are fine, but when it comes at the cost ...

Re: Tangled (Live-Action)
Well, not every film needs to feature every identity that exists all at the same time. I mean, do they really have some kind of checklist with movies now? "Latino? Check. Muslim? Check. White character? Check. Black character? Check. Jew? Check? LGBT? Check. Disabled character? Check. ..."...

Re: Toy Story 5
This looks so much better than 4. That said, the audience exhaustion and derision at that "5" in the title was palpable when the preview played while I was at the movies seeing The Devil Wears Prada 2 yesterday. Maybe a note for future franchises they can take from this. The numbers are go...

Re: Hoppers
I use the world "negligible," because ultimately it is understandable PIXAR's performances are a tad higher than WDAS' temporarily because WDAS is the one that took the bullet for Chapek's PR issues with Strange World's entire creation (and lack of push) being built around him. Because of ...

Re: Tangled (Live-Action)
My guess is for Eugene's father, just like we got parent additions or background info about Beadt's father, Belle's mother, Jasmine's mother, etc. Plus, like I said prior, with the success of a remake, they can look at sequels to the original again with the brand being brought back into public consc...

Re: The Little Mermaid Discussion
I was just thinking how much I'd like a steelbook for this film since I have so many steelbooks now. No offense to Paige O'Hara, but the steelbook for the last release was a pass for me. Since I know Sleeping Beauty's 4k release restoration is being worked on, I checked both films' last home media r...

Re: Hoppers
Unfortunately, PIXAR don't really make those calls themselves, they and WDAS both answer to larger Disney. I don't think they really see any of the recent originals from WDAS or PIXAR that have been hit hard since the pandemic/streaming took over as "successful" aside from Encanto. The dif...

Re: Alice in Wonderland Discussion
It was an effect they added with the Platinum release, I think, to indicate heat. There were certain shots (I think just as the first part of "PUS" ends) when the cauldron isn't fully open where the effect was at the top. I admit, I hadn't kept track over the years if it was also in the Si...

Re: Zootopia 2
I am so mad. I don't know how long pre-orders have been live for the 4K steelbook (which, even if the steelbook's the only way to get it on 4K physically, I still want it), but now the pre-orders are unavailable or sold out. Like, come on! I just want the movie physically on 4K! :x Did you ever man...

Re: Tony DeRosa Left Disney
I didn't know him really before this thread, but I imagine that's the case for a lot of talent behind-the-scenes. He got to experience quite a wide range of times for Disney (both good and bad), didn't he? Lucky him to have been a part of it all and getting to go out on a hit.

Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2026
I actually am starting to feel excited for Hexed, and Gatto already looked like the most interesting original PIXAR had on the plate since before Elio had even come out. I din't know if it will be the beginning of a turn8ng around, but at least that's something. 'Course, I had been excited for Wish,...

Re: Toy Story 5
Apparently there was a Funko revealed for this of a new girl holding Jessie and Bull's-eye. I don't necessarily know if it means that they have a new owner at the end of the movie, since it could be a scene in the movie where they're temporarily trapped somewhere or something, but the likelihood is...

Re: Alice in Wonderland Discussion
Pre-ordered it the day before yesterday. Very interested to see this one. I mean, I'd like to have these 4K original-sourced transfers for the whole canon, but I admit it's especially fun to see one where the colors have been off for as long as I can remember like with this and Cinderella. Hopefully...

Re: Hexed
Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. I do agree that nothing is bulletproof. But in this case, the factors at play in the underperformance of Mulan, TLM, and Snow White are obvious and impossible to deny, imo. Just going by how faithful L&S and Moana have been shows Disney took away the lesson...

Re: Hexed
Would be cute if Yensid is one of the names, too. Forgot to add with my last post, too, that it'll be worth noting if it shows a climb from Wish or not. I don't know what they think of Wish's streaming #'s behind-the-scenes, but it's one of those films like TLM or TP&TF where they only become si...

Re: Hexed
Not sure that's true? Moana is about to come out and make a billion, they're working on Tangled which should at least do Maleficent #s considering the casting isn't completely off and no mass story changes like with TLM / SW / Mulan, and the last original from either animation studio that made any s...

Re: FernGully (Live-Action)
Maybe Colman Domingo could do Hexxus? Too bad Billie Eillish isn't interested in trying acting like Ariana, because she looks so much like Crysta. Scarlet Johannson has the face, too bad she's too old for the role. Billie Eillish as Crysta Meryl Streep as Magi Jack Black as Batty Colman Domingo or K...

I doubt that considering what happened with Elio. But Alice in Wonderland (2010) made over a billion, and The Wizard of Oz is the most beloved film on this planet. Well, I did say either here or the first thread where I started talking about it that Alice is lifted by being known as a classic piece ...

Re: Why no PIXAR remakes and would you want them?
Just a thought that crossed my mind--if it was something contractual (such as PIXAR agreeing to be bought by Disney with the condition only PIXAR itself could produce sequels, prequels, remakes, and so on themselves), I wonder if something like that would hold if, say, PIXAR the company itself was w...
