Incredibles 3
In short, Brad Bird says that this isn't the right time to discuss a potential continuation but he's not ruling it out. With a record-breaking $180 million opening weekend at the box office, I'm sure Disney will start pushing for another one.

Re: Incredibles 3?
If it were up to me I would greenlight incredibles sequels for days over cars, toy story, star wars, etc. There's just something about this franchise that lends it self to telling new stories.

Re: Incredibles 3?
Everybody had to know there would be a third one. The only reason there would be a 2 and not a 3 for any franchise is if #2 bombs. I'll still hope they eventually skip ahead to Violet in college/Dash in high school, whenever it happens.

Re: Incredibles 3?
There's definitely going to be an Incredibles 3, after that opening weekend. However, Brad Bird still seems intent on making his earthquake movie "1906" (which was initially going to be his next movie after "Ratatouille"). Maybe the extraordinary success of "Incredibles 2" will inspire a studio to finally greenlight that project. I don't mind waiting another fourteen years for Incredibles 3, if we get more awesome movies like "Tomorrowland" (my personal favourite Brad Bird movie and yes, I recognise that's a minority opinion) in the interim.

He seems more open to it now than he was when he was doing press for the film.
Source: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat- ... ne-1165734Brad Bird neither confirmed nor denied that an Incredibles 3 will happen.
When asked about a potential sequel, Bird deadpanned, "I don't know. You don't ask somebody who's just had a baby, 'How'd you like to out back and get another one?'” As the crowd roared with laughter, Bird cheekily added, “Don't ask me now."

Re: Incredibles 3?
This is another film that's probably more a question of when than if.

This could be hinting towards Bird planning on eventually making a third film down the line...unless he means using scrapped material from the Incredibles film in a completely unrelated film.So can you talk about the original villains?
I don’t want to talk about it too much because I might figure out a way to make it work in another film. When you cut ideas ... ideas discarded from one film can be perfect for another film, so I try not to say too many ideas because they might be useful down the pike.

While I can not confirm the latter two movies will happen, what is certain is that Pixar is finding ways to become one of the top studios in Hollywood once again.
Source: https://thedisinsider.com/2024/05/08/th ... isneyland/Q: Since WDAS and Pixar are back doing sequels, does this mean they’re not doing originals anymore?
Skyler Shuler: No, the plan is too do a mixbag of sequels and originals. You’ll get Elio and Toy Story 5 and then Ducks then likely Incredibles/Finding Nemo 3, etc. Same on Disney Animations side.

He doesn't really know anything, he's just throwing spaghetti at the wall at this point. I stopped following him and the DisInsider a long time ago.

Re: Incredibles 3?
Who on earth is this Skyler Shuler and what privileged access does he have to Disney that we don't!?
I am really sick of seeing him quoted everywhere. I think I may just start a Disney blog, make vague claims that may or may not be true and insist I have in informant who is an insider. Instant success.

Re: Incredibles 3?
Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features ... ovie-magicMorris' strategy to turn things around involves balancing original movie ideas with sequels and spinoffs, the better to remind audiences what they once loved about Pixar. Every hit of yesteryear is being considered for a reboot, with Finding Nemo and The Incredibles regarded as particularly strong candidates for new titles. Morris aims to make three movies every two years—historically it’s been closer to one a year—with every other title a sequel or spinoff and the rest standalone concepts or potential seeds for new franchises. [...]
Collins, who’s been at the company since 1997 and produced award-winning titles such as Wall-E, is advising on development for movies to be released in 2027 and beyond. That means her projects are, for now, commercially sensitive secrets, though she sometimes runs hypotheticals by her teenage children. Her son, Cash, reminds her that sequels shouldn’t feel opportunistic. “The other day, I was like, ‘What if I told you we were making an Incredibles 3?’ ” Collins says. “And he was like, ‘Money grab.’ And I was like, ‘F---.’ Sequels are a double-edged sword, because the audience can be brutal and so quick to judge. Unless they’re worthy.”

Re: Incredibles 3?
My biggest problem with Incredibles 2 is it felt like I had only rewatched Incredibles again. It’s basically the same story, but with Elastigirl in the driver’s seat instead of Mr Incredible.
The world of the Incredibles seems rich and big enough that they could have explored a more interesting and unique story. Hopefully they take that opportunity with a third Incredibles film.

I wonder if Brad Bird is still working on Ray Gunn, I guess he isn't and he's back at Pixar. I would have preferred Ray Gunn to this to be honest.

Ha!
Like I said in a previous post, I think the world of the Incredibles and the superhero concept in general is big enough and rich enough to make interesting, worthwhile sequels that develop the characters and push the story to interesting new places. They chose not to do that with Incredibles II, and basically just made a remake of the first film. Now that Lasseter’s gone, maybe they will make an good sequel this time…
Or maybe Violet Parr will be enticed into working as a solo super for some reason and at the end of the film when a seemingly benevolent character is revealed to have taken advantage of her, she’ll realize she actually needs her family unit to support her.

‘Incredibles 3’ Finds Its Director

Re: Incredibles 3
Wasn't it reported that Brad Bird was working on it? We assumed that meant he was directing it, but he could have just been writing it. I recall he was only going to write Incredibles 2 initially and not direct it until Tomorrowland bombed. Of course, it's also possible he was going to direct the third installment too and something happened. Perhaps, it became too hard to juggle directing both Incredibles 3 and Ray Gunn.
In any case, I'm surprised they would hand over the reigns to such an important IP to someone who's only ever directed flops for them. And yes, Elemental was a flop, despite Disney's PR spin.
