Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah

Post by Alan »

I have a question from Song of the South. I've never seen it, but is the song Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah any good, and is Song of the South famous and a good movie, since I've never heard of it before today. Oh yeah, I might rent it.

I've always liked Zip-a-Dee-Do-Dah. I think it's a cute song, and I went around singing it when I was a little kid. But I never got a chance to see the movie.

How can anyone not enjoy this classic disney song. Thats one of the first songs i think of when i think of Disney.
That & mmc march, when u wish upon a star & small world are like the top 4 disney songs that come to mind when i think of disney music.

good movie, good song-patiently waiting for the dvd release...tho i might need to wait a long long time....

That song is my favourite Disney song of all time I would say. Growing up I had a Song of the South record (I believe it was the official record) and I would play that constantly.

Yeah I loved those 80's... Cyndi Lauper, Van Halen, Song of the South. :)

1) You cant rent it in the USA, its never been released.
2) Its a very good movie. Some of the plot points of the live action is non sensical at times but the animation sections are really good.
3) I collect versions of Zippideedoodah. Steve Miller's is my favorite.
4) I own a bootleg on region free DVD from an asian laserdisc knock off.
5) It is the highest grossing movie(inflation adjusted) to never be released on DVD.
6) Orestes -Zippideedoodah is from the 40s not 802.

True, but the last theatrical release in America was in 1986.

I've gone on about Song of the South many times before, if not here, than at another forum. I have fond memories of my mother taking me to see it when I was ten.

It's sad that it's been held back for so long. . . . so many fans of Disney know little more about the song and characters other than they're "from" a certain ride at Disneyland.

Many claim this movie has racist messages in it. But it's rumored to be released some time next year for its 60th Anniversary!

I didn't say it was from the 80's but the song was very popular in my house like the others I mentioned. I didn't think I had to clarify that.

Yes you did.

If not I could write comments like this:

"Yeah I loved those Dreamworks movies ... Antz, Shrek, Song of the South." :) (all of those movies are populare in my house)

Do you see how easy it is to misunderstand?

I find it so funny that Song of the Southhasn't been released because of "racism" but classics like Birth of a Nation and Peter Panhave been released multiple times.

Well, let's see...

Birth of a Nation, racist or nit, is a landmark achievement in film. I could NEVER see why anyone would want to release one of THOSE on DVD.

and Peter Pan I don't even feel like justifying. I'll let someone else.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not saying they shouldn'tbe released, I'm saying that I'm amazed they've been released numerous times before SOTShas even hit video stores.

Well how many times have the releasers of BOTN been villified and and threatened with discriminatory laws by the NAACP for releasing the movie?

Getting back to what the topic is really about

Yes I also like the song Zip-a-dee-doo-dah. I have the old Sing-a-long video with the song in it. I watched the video a couple days ago and I noticed how bad the picture quality and color of the scene was compared to that of the UK video of the movie Song of the South. What is also great about this song is that it was the second Disney song to win an Best Song Oscar with When You Upon A Star being the first. It was sad that for a while Disney started to say on its products that the song is from Splash Mountain and not mention that the song really comes from Song of the South. Nevertheless I am looking forward to getting Song of the South on DVD next year. :D

That's a rumor, though. It might not be true.
