Who here has a DeviantArt account?[see my Ariel fan art too]

Post by Sunset Girl »

I hope no one here is sick of me posting my drawings. :huh:

Anyway, I'm finally making use of the DeviantArt account I opened like three months ago. I didn't realize how cool the place is!

I've only got 6 pictures posted so far, but there's more to come, including some Disney fan art. You can see my gallery here, and it includes a couple of realistic [and tasteful] nudes from my college days as well as some fan art and a gel pen drawing I've posted elsewhere on this forum. Please take a look and let me know what you thnk.

On a more Disney related note, here's an unfinished pic I added to the scrap category:

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/ ... "Unfinshed Ariel">

You can see a larger version here.

As usual, she's a combination of markers and colored pencils. I began to color it today but things got kinda hectic, so I maybe I can decide how to color the background and take the picture in a better light tomorrow.

Anyway, who else here has an account there they can share? Don't shy away from it if you don't draw, it's about photography and writing, too. :) Check the place out; it's cool. There's so much artwork to look at and you can add comments and everything.

Well, the only area I used a black marker was for the outline, but for this actual picture it's just a photocopy of a drawing I made a couple of years ago for the kids I work with (see my online journals/coloring sheets thread).

For the hair, I started with a purple marker for the darkest areas, overlapping it and covering more areas with a red marker. Then I moved on to an orange marker to fill in the rest, leaving some of the area uncolored for the highlights. I added a little detail with colored pencil on top of the marker.

The eyes, lips, shells, and tail are all marker, and the skin is a combination of five different shades of colored pencils.

Here is what she looks like uncolored:

you realy have talent with the markers
I thought the tail was made with a mix of colors and markers,but I could never guess it was all markers.
I repeat,
Great job!

Thank you! :)

I used to be "afraid" to try using markers. I worked primarily with colored pencils until I casually started practicing with them and finally learned how to do blending. Now I love to combine them and I get the best of both worlds. Markers give you bold color and a lot of coverage quickly, while colored pencils can give you a very soft and blended look but take forever to do.

Now if I can only figure out those darn watercolors. . . :lol: Man, I have no clue when it comes to painting with them!

Thanks for all the compliments, everyone! :)

Sorry, she's not for sale; I'm not even in possession of her anymore. I promised her to a little girl in my aferschool program when it was finished and gave the pic to her today.

Oh, I used more markers to give it kind of an abstract background, by the way. Here she is:

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/ ... ariel2.png" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

You can see a larger version of her here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/19007639/

For some reason her hair turned out a little too bright and I couldn't darken it without darkening everything else, and there's a little shadowing on her tail because the wetness of the marker made it bulge a little. Other than that, I think I'm happy with it.

You could make it darker getting crushed a little bit of the red color tip and spread it with the finger or a little paper

The color of the hair from the actual piece is better represented by the unfinished version for some reason, although the rest of it is a little dark. I adjusted it a little with Irfan, but this was as close as I could get without making the rest of it too dark.

But when you're taking pictures of artwork that's bound to happen, so I'm cool with it. And like I said, I no longer have it in my possession anyway. :wink:

I just added a sculpture to my account. Not much to look at, but it is Disney related.

It's a figure of Nala from The Lon King. You can see it here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/19556872/

do you need a scanner or something to put it up?

Any means you have to get your images uploaded in your computer. A scanner is probably best, but I use a digital camera. I've also scanned in things at Walgreens to have my artwork put on disc before I had any other means, which came in quite handy.

I thought I'd reopen this chat, because I know there's alot of people on here who enjoy drawing, and I'm one of them :P. I'm curious to see people's work, and what kind of stuff they do.

To anyone who wants to have a look around, here's my link:
Some of the stuff is dodgy, especially the Gosshawk, but neve rmind eh?
