Question about supporting the site through Amazon...

I've been a member for almost a year now and feel that it should be my duty to support the site by purchasing something from Amazon. However, I need to get a few questions answered first...

1. Do you have to purchase something through the site shop in order to aid the site?

2. If number 1 is correct, if you throw in a non-Disney item into the basket as well whilst browsing on Amazon after looking at the UD shop, will that purchase help support the site as well?

3. Do Amazon Marketplace Orders help the site at all?

(It's also on the support page.) Or clicking through any "Buy" link that takes you to a product will also work. "Direct link" purchases give a higher percentage of the order than "indirect link", meaning if you find the exact title you want on one of the lists, the Shop, or any page that links to Amazon, and add directly to your cart, it will count as a 'direct purchase' and give the higher rate.

Buying non-Disney items from Amazon also gives credit to the site. It would presumably be an indirect-link at the lower rate, unless you asked someone to make you a direct link or something like that.

3. Do Amazon Marketplace Orders help the site at all?

Yes. Marketplace orders now count just the same as ordering from Amazon. Direct links are a little trickier to figure out, but if it's an Out of Print Disney DVD you're clicking on, the links at UD are configured to take you directly to the Marketplace page of sellers offering that DVD and that will then count at the higher rate. If it's an in-print item that Amazon offers as well, you can still buy through Marketplace and it will support the site but as it'd be an indirect link, it'd be less of a credit.

At Amazon, it depends on how many items are shipped for the entire quarter. The default is 5% on indirect and 7.5% on direct, but if a lot sells, that could rise. Still nowhere near minimum wage based on the hours that go into this site, though.

Other e-tailers give a much smaller referral percentage for the most part.

7% isn't all tha bad.. any bit helps I'm sure.. I'll make a concious effort to use your link for both direct and non direct DVD I get via amazon.
