Thanks for posting those, Luke!
Even though I know Pocahontas isn't the greatest animated feature ever made by Disney, it still has a lot of sentimental value to me. The new DVD is going to rock!!!

Yes, they are. It's a direct Digital transfer from the CAPS system - just like the Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King for example.Lady wrote:Wow. It may just be my imagination but those stills look so much cleaner.

Wow, I was worried Disney wouldn't even botter to release a few release pictures for "Pocahontas". Great pics, thanks for posting them, Luke.
Not only does it have a lot of sentimental value to me (just as pinkrenata), but I do think it is one of Disney's best animated features, no matter historical inacuracy and what some people may think. This is certainly part of Disney's last golden age.

Yes, it's Mel Gibson singing
"Does anyone know if its Mel Gibson singing for John Smith in the " If I Never Knew You " animated sequence? "
It is most DEFINATELY Mel Gibson singing. He talks about it on the "making of" on this disc 9assuming it's the same as the australian release.
I too couldn't wait for the release, so i've already bought mine from Australia. I'll certainly buy the American release too (assuming it's the same) so i don't have to change my dvd region every time i want to watch this.
Adding "If I never Knew You" really made the movie "whole" for me. Showing the reflection of John Smith in the water just like Kokoum during "Just Around the Riverbend" brought Pocahontas' fellings full circle. There's also a brief reprise of this song added seemlesly during their goodbye at the end.
