A suggestion !!

Post by Lion King »

This is kind of stupid and is kind of weird, but is there any way that there could be just a forum for one movie inperticular ? Like maybe one for each popular movie, and for the other movies that are not as popular as others leave in OTHER DISNEY MOVIES. I know its kind of stupid but its a good idea, and may bring more people to this site !!!!

like this..

http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=6967

*that's a Beauty and the Beast discussion. you'll have to "BUMP" it though to get the other forum-ers post in it.

And it also lists other Disney movies that have a Discussion thread...

Was a Lion King Discussion ever made? I found on your link a least of discussions from Snow White 'til Beauty and the Beast. So I'm wondering...

i don't think so...
but that would probably be HUGE discussion as TLK is a trilogy..
I've searched for it and there have been threads on it..but not actual, actual discussions.

The AC discussion threads were started by DDMan26, but he didn't have a lot of time so I started doing them, and then Wonderlicious started doing them, and then everyone started doing them, and then they just stopped. I suppose someone should probably start a TLK discussion, but I don't have the energy. :P

As for a separate forum for a particular movie, I don't think any one movie can have enough discussion to warrant its own forum- it would probably be a year before it even got one page's worth of threads. After all, there's rarely breaking news on them. That's hardly worth the price the site would pay in clutter and bandwith. Giving each movie its due is fun, though, and important, which is why the discussion threads exist, as pointed out. And if after using the search feature you still can't find the topic you wanna talk about, feel free to start a new one in the General Discussion forum (or, if it's a poll/game, in the Polls & Games forum). :) Welcome!

If you guys knew anything about bandwidth, you'd realize that adding a new forum wouldn't add to the bandwitdh at all.

What is adding to the bandwitdh are these cheap video updates that Luke is hosting on the main page of the site. There's no reason for them, because it's basically just photos and text. I could see if it was actual content in the movie, but what is on there now could just as well be posted as text and photos.

Sorry to who made the videos, but it's not worth it.

Also, UltimateDisney.com is violating copyright issues by having the cover art of the DVDs in the update, and not saying what is copyright Disney at the end. It just says it's all copyright UltimateDisney.com.

And no one says All Rights Reserved anymore. ;) That was phased out of Copyright Law years ago.

I know this post kind of has a negative tone, but everyone keeps making bandwidth an issue on the site... and now you're hosting huge video files? That is totally against any logic you might have.

As far as an extra forum, one for every movie IS too much and not needed. See, at least I agree there. ;)

Well, why do you make the videos here? LOL

I believe I offer much needed insight about how the website is actually run, and how bandwidth becomes an issue.

Bill, I have some feedback for you. Since you post about once a month, and your posts are simply negative or condescending words, why don't you go back to your website and simply post on your own forum? You're concerned with UD's bandwidth issue, that by simply not visiting here to mine news with which to repeat on your own site, you'd be saving plenty right there. Then there wouldn't be the bandwidth consumed by people reading your boring put-downs.

One could look at the posts you've made here and quickly see they're all either you making antagonistic posts, contributing your superior computer knowledge, or now your superior copyright knowldge, or lamenting about how you once hosted the forum for this site two years ago. That's not really adding anything to discussion, and your site would probably be a better place to toot your own horn and assert your own ego.

They're great updates, I'll admit, but...

You're always complaining about bandwidth issues on the site. And that bandwidth isn't primarialy generated from these forums, it's from the actual site. These new videos in particular are almost (or are more) than one megabyte a piece. That's a huge file size, especially for a host that complains of bandwidth issues.

The material in the actual videos isn't really new material, and it's nothing that couldn't be typed and just posted with in-line photos that would have a much smalled bandwidth size. The last update was entirely photos... it didn't have any scenes from the movies or anything like that. It was entirely un-necessary from a bandwidth standpoint. It could have been said just as well, if not better, if only text and photos were used on a webpage.

I'm not the owner of the site Luke, I'm not affiliated with the site, and I'm not really anything here except a member. But I do own my own site and I know about bandwidth issues, and I've offered you my bandwidth countless times to use for your own content. You've refused every single time. And now you're adding these videos to the site. All I can say is that there should be no more complaints to your users on your part about bandwidth. These gigantic videos are being hosted on his server, and that is where the bandwidth issues will get bad.

I'm also amazed that you're still mad about the forum hosting 2 years ago. Seems to me you have something against me. I have nothing against you Luke.

If you'd just talk to me, I think you could learn. But you refuse to even do that.

AIM me at billmagicalears. We should really talk and get this silly fighting over with.

Well, continue if you must. I never said I didn't like the videos. However, I advise you to change the copyright notice in the videos, unless you want to start hearing from the Disney Legal Department.
