Mulan DVD Question
I was looking at my Mulan Gold Collection DVD and I noticed that the disc says limited issue on it but the cover art says gold collection. Also, the chapter insert says limited issue as well.
I was just wondering if anyone else has a Mulan DVD like that?

Yep mine is the same.
They just reissued the Limited edition DVD's in the Gold Collection Cases not real cool I don't think but that is how it works.

My current copy of Pinocchio (which will be upgraded to the Platinum Edition) has a Gold cover and Gold disc but the chapter insert says Limited Issue. Don't have Mulan yet though.

Hercules
I have the hercules limited issue and a copy of the gold collection version but inside the gold collection its the limited issue disc also.
Anybody have the gold collection version with an actual gold collection disc? As for the inserts they obviously kept using them till they were gone why waste them.
I never picked up pinocchio or mulan for gold collection assuming they would be LI discs inside anyways.
Thanks
Chuck

Re: Hercules
My Hercules (which I just recently recieved during the final days at the Condom board free from Disney as a part of the Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotion from last fall) is pure Gold -- Gold cover, Gold disc, and Gold chapter insert.Peter Pan wrote:Anybody have the gold collection version with an actual gold collection disc?

Re: Hercules
Are you saying that you already had the LI discs? Because although most of the GCs actually have the GC disc, the content on that disc is exactly the same as the content on the LI.Peter Pan wrote:I never picked up pinocchio or mulan for gold collection assuming they would be LI discs inside anyways.
Interesting, I just looked at my Mulan GC and it has a Limited Issue insert. Didn't notice that before. I just got the DVD a few months ago from fye.com.
Limited Issue
As for GC vs LI my Hercules Gold Collection has the Limited Issue Disc inside which i could not believe. I never picked up Mulan or Pinocchio assuming the same thing would happen.
I never noticed the insert before either. They probably figured they would use them up instead of getting rid of them.

Mulan DVD
Re: Mulan DVD
Because they probably had lots of Limited Issue discs already pressed, so they just put them in Gold Collection cases rather than throwing them out?Disney Guru wrote:I Don't Get It Either. If it is a Gold Collection DVD then why for pete's sake do they put Limited Issue on it. I personally didn't buy any of the limited issue DVD'S because I thought they were a rip.
Here in Mexico the R1 Limited Issue were distributed as R4 titles...
The cover art is in Spanish, but the discs are English printed stating just the R1 symbol... my Mulan DVD has the "Gold collection" banner and my 101 Dalmatians has the "Limited Issue" one... but here the Collection lines were not part of the publicity for latinamerica releases.
In fact here every release is "the classics" line, even if those were meant to sell in the US under an specific banner.

Sigh. For the last time, THE GOLD COLLECTION DISCS OF PINOCCHIO, HERCULES AND MULAN ARE IDENTICAL TO THE LIMITED ISSUE VERSIONS IN DISC CONTENT.
Thus, it was perfectly natural for Disney to "use up" Limited Issue discs and/or inserts in Gold Collection packages. Once those were all sold off, later pressed copies had inserts and discs labelled as Gold Collection, but the content is exactly the same. My "Gold Collection" Pinocchio even has promotional images of the other Limited Issues, including the ones that were not put into the Gold line afterwords. This just proves the point - they're exact duplicates of the LI discs. It doesn't matter if you have a Gold insert and LI disc or LI insert and Gold disc. The DVD and chapter listing are the same. You're not getting anything more or anything less with the Gold as opposed to the LI or with the LI as opposed to the Gold.
