Is there gonna be a Deluxe DVD gift set version of Bambi PE?

Post by maxeythecat »

Was just curious if they were also releasing a deluxe package with a book or stuffy or any other goodies along side the bare-bones-just-the-dvd-and-box-thankyou version on Tuesday? If so, I WANT IT!

No, they won't be. I'd hardly call next week's release "barebones," though. In fact, I wouldn't even call it "boneless."

Actually, there is a set on Disneydirect.com that includes lithographs, a pin and plush set of Bambi & Flower with the DVD for a price of $30.00.

But you better hurry, the set is only availible if you preorder it before midnight on Feb. 28th.

Guess I misphrased that, cos I know this set's got tons of bells and whistles that I can hardly wait to get my paws on...what I meant was will they be issuing a special boxed set with commemorative books, stuffed toys, ceramic figures or limited edition seri-cels like they did for "Lion King", but after reading your reply, I guess I got my answer. Bugger, that's really too bad. Oh well, guess I have to console myself with my 1st edition 1st pressing book of "Bambi-The Story and The Film" signed by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston...woe is me! Sorry, could'nt resist...thanks for the info!

I wish they would make collector's gift sets for all the platinums.

why would they make a set for the lion king and aladdin then skip bambi to make one for cinderella, that just seems werid. i wish they would make one for bambi just to make everything look like a collection. It seems to me that the only thing that makes the platinum collection fit together is the platinum edition banner at the top of the case! that frustrates me!!! :x

My point exactly...you'd think they'd do that for "Bambi" since it's one of their most beloved ( and biggest money-making) properties...they could've re-issued the "Story and Film" book, they could've made up some wonderful wee figurines or a couple of adorable stuffies and put together some gorgeous stills from the film and slapped it all into a snazzy collector's box and made a mint from it! Oops...I just had a thought about all that. Betcha ten to one that's what they'll do for Christmas 2006...they'll issue both Bambi I AND II in a special gift set for the holidays and really clean up, especially if #II does'nt do as well as expected on its own. Guess I answered my own question.

well that would work cause the Platinums are only available for a year, so Bambi should go back in the vault in Jan or Feb before Lady and the Tramp comes out.

A few people here are saying that besides the Platinum Banner on top of each DVD there is really nothing else that can make these DVD stand out and feel like a Collectors item, so I think that the best thing that Disney can do to reward those True fans who spent all these years waiting and collecting these DVDs is to some how release a Special Collectors Edition Box Case that would hold all 10 Platinum Movies in one casing. almost like what they did witht he Limited Issue DVDs.

Image

i know that as soon as this Platinum line is over they will begin all over again in a new formate, and then people here are going to be more focused on buying those, but some how i would like to have the Box Case idea happen. it could be like what they did with the Lord of the Rings EE, when the final Extended Edition was released they all came with an Insert that allowed us to buy the Trilogy Box case free but with a $3.00 Shipping fee.

I wish that Ollie could have made sketches for Bambi, and possibly a rememberence sketch of the late, great Frank Thomas.

It's hard to see you guys waste your money at Disney.com just because of a lithograph.

Suncoast Motion Picture is offering a numbered cell along with a Thumper stuffed animal and all for $19.99, if you order it before February 26.

Wal-Mart is also offering a stuffed Disney character animal from "Bambi" with the purchase and they are selling it for $17.87.

Just two reasons for not exposing your credit card to hackers. Don't be fooled, they can get into your account any time they wish. They got into mine for $5,000 a couple of years back and i don't buy anything on line unless they will accept a money order for payment. Consumer beware!!!

If you order Bambi from DisneyDirect.com for $19.95, you get the lithos, but tax and shipping and handling bring the grand total up to $28.14. It was so nice when you could just get it at the Disney Store for regular price and still get the lithos.

You can do that with the Incredibles at the Disney Store, but then you can't get it in widescreen.

D'oh!

Hmm, I was not expecting a Cinderella gift set, but might pick it up if the price is right. Looks like they're only going to do it for the October platinums.

i agree with maxeythecat. i bet they will relase a collectors box nearer to christmas, basically sell it that same way they did the lion king trilogy. Come out with the box set then give us a month to buy it b4 it goes back into the vault. I think that sounds like something disney would do! lol
