Who likes commentaries on the disney dvd's?

I love the commentaries on Fantasia, they are very interesting to listen to and you learn more about the movie.

Whenever I buy a familiar Disney movie that's new to DVD, the first thing I do is watch it with commentary (when it's available, anyway).

If I'm seeing the movie for the first time, I'll wait until my second viewing before I turn on the comentary. It's the single most important bonus feature to me.

I love Disney's commentaries, especially Beauty and the Beast. That one had me laughing all the way through. ^-^ I will say that film releases that lack any bonus commentary really bug me; I like having behind-the-scnes insight from the creators of the film.

Snow White's pieced-together commentary was a bit hard to listen to, though. Some of the Walt audio files were so old.

I never got to get B&B on Dvd unfortunately, but Ill try to get it. I was pretty upset about the Alice DVD, lack of bonus features as well as commentary

Out of all the commentaries, the ones with John Canemaker are the best. His commentaries on Fantasia, Snow White, and Dumbo are the best ones.
The commentary on Sleeping Beauty was kind of dull.

Also, I just found out that there will be a commentary on Bambi, but it will be like the Snow White one...... sorry Key

i love the commentaries, i've still got to finsh peter pan and mulan. i love b and b audio that was funny some things i never noticed like the bear in the gaston sequence.

Yes I love Commentary, usually when it is a movie I have seen before, I turn on the subtitles and listen to the commentary. I think the best Commentary was on the One And Only Genuine Origional Family Band DVD. It was so awesome to hear Lesley, John, and Richard Sherman again. There opinions on the film were very funny, I personally always enjoyed that movie more than The Happiest MIllionaire. I have to admit it, I am a Walter Brennan fanatic.

i've only seen one commentary and thats for brother bear and it was great!! it was done by Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis in character as rutt and tuke and it was just hilarious... ive said this before- it was like 10 times better then the movie itself... wow this thread inspired me. im gonna watch the emperors new groove or lion king commentary tonight

i just checked and i couldnt find commentary on the lion king special 2disc edition.... is there no commentary on THE LION KING???

There is commentary on the Platinum Edition Lion King DVD, it's probably in either bonus features, audio, or set-up.

I think it's on the Setup menu and only under the "original theatrical" (*cough*) version.

Yes I love Commentares but the in character ones are the best. from what i can find these films have in character Commentares brother bear,the alf files (can. dvd),The Fairly Odd Parents:Abra-Catastrophe The Movie,Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie,muppets from space,and part of space jam and i have all of thouse.

listened to half hour of it and turned it off, so friggin boring!

I liked the Dumbo one (if it was 2 hours I would have died though) very informative, lacks some excitement though.

The one on Fantasia by Walt was awsome!!

Does Maltin do commentaries?

B&TB commentary was great! As was Huchback's, this is obviously because they are the same people. Wise and Trousdale should do more movies so they can do more commentaries

. I also enjoyed the Aladdin animator one. As for other movies, I enjoy the Star Wars commentaries, I wish the Harry Potter movies had them, and I'm crossing my fingers for Lemony Snicket to get one.

I agree with many of you that the commentaries are some of my favorite features of any DVD, and Disney commentaries are some of the most entertaining. My absolute favorite commentaries though are Pixar ones.

My least favorite kinds of commentaries are the ones that dwell far too much on the technical details of the scenes. I really like the ones that talk about the story or development, or alternate takes or funny stories about the making. When they start talking about how the lighting in a particular scene, or the rendering or something was a certain way, I start to snooze. It's not that I'm not interested in it, but technology has advanced so much that it's not that interesting anymore, and the story is the important thing.

the commentaries with walt disney, actually its recordings or story meeting readings by a voice actor, are great too. The information comes straight from the man who thought it

In terms of direct filmmaker commentaries, Beauty and the Beast is probably my favorite one, just like most people's here, it seems. Gary, Kirk, and Don all have great chemistry together. Since I don't own the current Hunchback disc, I can't wait to hear their track when it re-appears on the inevitable SE. In terms of historian/cast commentaries, both Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins have great tracks. I'm not usually big on film historian tracks, but Jeff Kurti proves to be far more interesting a speaker than the monotonous John Canemaker (even if John does provide lots of good info), plus the edited bits from the "making of" interview sessions helped, too. As for Poppins, everyone on that track maintains a great balance between happy nostalgia and juicy behind-the-scenes information. It's too bad scheduling conflicts caused them to split into pairs, for I think the commentary track might've been even better had they all been there in the same room bouncing off of each other.

Hehe, oh no. I did like Snow White's commentary but it was just that it sounded as though I was listening to it through a tin can because the Walt audio they used was so old.

I appreciate any sort of audio commentary, really; when it's a newer film and the commentators are all in the same room watching and just having fun with what they're doing, it's all the more enjoyable for me.
