Disney Parks Forum

Post by IggieKuzco »

i've recently noticed that there are alot of disneyword\land posts in the forums and i wondered why there wasnt a special forum for it. then i realized that there used to be one if im not mistaken but it was taken down and replaced with polls and games (right?)
but im thinking it would good to have it around and maybe it should be brought up again...

As an avid fan and regular visitor of the Disney parks, I of course would love such an addition. However, I can also understand that there would probably be bandwith concerns and that the focus of the site is on Disney movies & DVD.

Ditto to what Aaron said - plus, there's not enough discussion about the parks as it is to start a forum devoted to the subject.

I'll third it. There are a LOT of people on it, which makes it a great resource (but can also sometimes cause it to be overwhelming and sometimes come off with a slightly harsh tone). Basically, it's no UD, but when it comes to WDW discussion (or any Disney park, really), it's the best forum I've found and I really enjoy it.

I was thinking about this from all your recent posts on the matter, Iggie. I had originally intended for Parks discussions to go in Off-Topic (since they have nothing to do with DVDs, and little to do with movies), but I allowed the Attractions Discussion Series to go in General Discussion because they were clearly well thought-out and popular.

My thinking now is that if we were to make a separate Parks Forum, it would maybe:

A) bring in people who have no interest in the subject matter of the site at large

B) lower discussion since I don't know how many people would actually make a habit of checking an additional forum for discussions

Neither one of those is too desirable, but I'm definitely still considering it.

Hmm. Perhaps a possible solution would be to allow only more active members access to the park forum? That way you wouldn't have people joining up just for that and you'd only have participation from the folks who wanted it and who we know will still participate in the other forums.

i dunno bout that aaron...
it seems too restricted... and i think it's nicer to have a relaxed site... also we already have the "you must be a member to have an a avatar" and now if you "must be active to go into the forum" it seems kind of cold.

I don't think so. I've been a member of forums in which there has been a special forum or two set aside for more active members, for the very reason that I listed above. After all, while theme park discussion is very much related to the subject of this site, it's not the subject itself. I don't think it would seem cold. It would make perfect sense, as does the avatar restriction. That way you'd get people who want to talk about all things Disney (the movies in the general forums and the theme parks in that one) and you wouldn't have people joining up just for the sake of that one forum. Of course, it's all up to the Lukester. I'm happy either way.

What good would an avatar be if you weren't a member?! :?
