Any new CDs you're loving or looking forward to?
Right now, I'm LOVING Gwen Stefani's solo debut Love Angel Music Baby. I think it's absolutely amazing. Very 80's dance pop influenced, and I love 80's dance pop. There's also some hip hop-sounding tracks, like Rich Girl. What You Waiting For, however, is in a class by itself, and is a kickass track. Love it all, except for one crappy song, Bubble Pop Electric. Avoid it at all costs.

I love your avatar, my chicken is infected!!
When I first saw it I had to double check I wasn't posting at my Wicked forum...
I'm hoping to get the new SE Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack this week, but so far I'm still hooked on my Moulin Rouge! soundtrack that I got two weeks ago. I don't care for some of the extra tracks (Lady Marmalade-ugh!), but my favourites from the movie are there, so I'm not complaining.

Excellent. I streamed that on MTV.com the other week or so and liked it a lot . . . as soon as I come into some more money I'll pick it up. My last purchase was the Strokes - Room on Fire. Not as good as I expected (the sounds kind of blend together in my head . . . they're not very distinct, and it gives the album kind of a blurry feel), but still OK. I like Reptilia, You Talk Way Too Much, and Whatever Happened?STASHONE wrote:i bought a lot of albums recently...

I love the new record, it far surpassed my expectations.
apparently the tracks were chosen by his family and friends from earlier cuts he was working on. i think they pretty much sum up his life.
its pretty shitty that this album's gotten more press than anything put out while he was alive, but I expected that.
either/or and his sel-titled records are my modern day pink moon.
elliot smith was brilliant...
fond farewell to a friend indeed.

New (ish) records I've been listening to and enjoying include:
The Thrills - Let's Bottle Bohemia
22-20s - 22-20s
The Cops - Stomp on Tripwires
There aren't many records coming up I'm looking forward to, but I'm keen to finally hear the new Nine Inch Nails record which seems to have been "coming soon" for about 7000 years now.

I'm always intrigued when I hear a new Rihanna is coming as to what new kinds of music she'll make. "We Found Love" is a little more techno than she usually embarks on, yet rounded out with some interesting Caribbean carnival type crust.

I really love how consistent she is with new music. She's actually likely the only major artist in a long time who makes a point to release a new album or 2.0 version of an album with new songs every single year:
2005 - Music of the Sun
2006 - A Girl Like Me
2007 - Good Girl Gone Bad
2008 - ^ Reloaded
2009 - Rated R
2010 - Loud
2011 - Talk That Talk
It's incredible. And with all that, you'd think she'd be victim to overexposure...

^ I absolutely love Rihanna, Laz. And I can't wait for Talk That Talk (already pre-ordered it from Amazon). Rated R is still my favorite of hers, though. Florence + the Machine's new album Ceremonials comes out on Tuesday (also pre-ordered and should be shipped by Tuesday). I love Flo, too, and cannot wait for her new album; Lungs is brilliant, but I think I'll be completely blown away by Ceremonials. And right now, for some reason, I'm on a Christina Aguilera kick. I've been listening to Stripped, Back to Basics and Bionic and I really like all of them.

Florence's Ceremonials came out today!! I ended up getting it twice, though (haha, silly me). I initially pre-ordered it from iTunes because you would get Shake It Out (brilliant song, by the way) and then I decided to get it from Amazon and I told my self I would cancel the pre-order on iTunes. Well, it shipped from Amazon this morning and when I opened iTunes, it automatically began to download. So I now have two copies of Ceremonials, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I pretty much wasted $13.

Oh? Then I'll make sure to check out Florence this week.
Maybe I'll do her in the Review a CD thread.
As for Rihanna, I've really been getting into her these past few months. I'd only heard a few of her songs until I found "S&M." After that song, I did a Peaches and had to go through her entire discography. Now I've got mix CD's and YouTube playlists for her. She's definitely become one of my favorite artists right now. A lot of her old stuff is only okay, only a few songs on each of her first two albums have really stuck with me. ("Pon de Replay" and "SOS," of course, but I really LOVE "Kisses Don't Lie" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" too. Also "If It's Lovin' That You Want" and "A Million Miles Away.")

I also like that song. And I still love the CD, 7 years later. I actually think the weakest song on the CD is "Long Way to Go" and, lyrically though "Harajuku Girls" is fun, I think musically it's not very good.StevEnrique wrote:I like Bubble Pop Electric.
