Why does Disney always changes Platinum Edition movies????

Post by DISNEY FAN »

Since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney has changed the style, snow white was made in an alpha case and with no slip cover, then in Beauty and the Beast and Lion King, they decided to make a slip cover and to put the movie in a normal 2 disc case, now, in aladdin they left the slip cover without the fabulous looking strip in the bottom of it.....

Why they can't just make an Edition that is the same style in all the movies??????

Because Disney likes to play with our minds. I guess they just randomly pick and choose which movies get a slipcover and which ones don't. I personally don't like slipcovers all that much. I always lose them.
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.

I've written it before and I repeat: That word "Platinum" doesn't really mean as much any more as it was supposed to at the beginning.

However, Disney has a number of nice 2-disc editions - some of them called "Platinum" and others not.

And here I thought this was gonna be a discussion about how the Platinum versions are digitally redone 21rst century versions of the movies and not the original :P

maybe they just have a big office where everybody puts 3 ideas in a hat and they pick out 5 to put together a dvd lol  there really is no steady style or flow to the platinum line like the gold, masterpiece, classic and heck every other series disney started.

the idea to use a thin 2-disc case probably did not occur to Disney until after releasing Snow White

note that the Alpha case was common for multiple disc sets in the dvds early years

note that the dvd is still a very young concept

as for the slipcovers and strips well...hey we're talking Disney here. Everybody who's working there right now dont have their heads screwed on at all

I think that they change every movie, because Disney tries to improve the style, but why doesn't they understand that we like it to be with a pattern, or only alike...

the thing that I most dislike about all movies its that the photos on the side doesn't natch, some photos are up, other down orthers with a frame, or bigger or smaller, I hate that!!! :x

Maybe we could start one somewhere...

About the topic at hand, well I can understand people wanting consistency in the packaging so their Platinums stand out as a Platinum section "unit" on their collection and to have them the same but each different by movie and all that goodie collecting stuff we love
But for me for example I don't really care much cus my "Platinum" Beauty and the Beast is actually a "Dark Red Velvetium" book one and the Aladdin and the Lion King i have on their Gift Set boxes (haven't gotten snow white yet which i'll probably try to get in the PAL version) (or the Blue Oct 09 one :P) so each one becomes an individuly different Special Reduper Edition version

I wish they were more consistent with the actual *digital content* inside, tho ;)
