My plan for animation domination

Post by Prince Phillip »

As stated in several other threads, I would like to start my own animation house and eventually aquire disney...

As disney himeself, I am an invisionary... I can see what needs to be done, what should be done and such but I leave the other stuff, animating and such up to the professionals...

I am not kidding, I would like to pull this off, but how? Would anyone else like to come in with me? We could start a secret organization and build up followers, till we have enough people to get the show on the road. As stated before Animators should not be hard to find as they are being laid off left and right, and I don't think a lot would have the gaul to ask for outlandish fees.

Loomis, you are studying law, are you not? I believe that you could be a vital part to my bussiness. Give it some thought... Luke, when we make it big, you can be our web source, we will direct lots of traffic towards your site and you will be te first to get all breaking news... Ofcourse many of you could play "the fan base". you would be incharge of hyping up our movies to the others of your age group...

Well, if anyone is interested, let me know. Also I have plenty of story ideas, but might need some writters to help me map out actual scripts... :)

THIS IS NOT A JOKE. If someone does not do something animation as a great artform and all will die, and all we will have is Japanimation, which is a secret Japanese weapon meant to corrupt our youth!!!
...Anyway I plan to be that person.

LOL, "Japanimation"...

I really ought to use that term more frequently instead of the more commonly used phrase pronounced "ann-ni-may", it'll annoy my sister to no end. :P

As both a final year law student and a writer, I both admire and encourage you! That sounds like a great plan and don't ever give up, PP!

I am actually trying to get my own production company off the ground (film wise), and am using those very skills to do so. One day I hope to see animation as a part of that. Do you currently have animation skills? There are a few small projects I'd love to do with animation, so PM me if you'd like to talk more.

Unfortunately, I think you are going to need more than little old me to take on Disney's legal team :P

Good luck, and hope to one day cross paths professionally!

Thanks, I'd actually like to start up a film production company, either called TheBlueEyedGreek (my SN) or Rennaissance Films, a lot of the fl=ilms I have in mind to do are like the ancient Greek stories, maybe a few Egyptian and stuff. So far three film ideas I have are: Oedipus, Alexander The Great, and Hercules... I would also like to produce a few animated ones like: Alibaba and the 40 Theives, Theseus, and The Illiad and the Odessy. If, however, the animated could get off the ground first, and I could later get into Live-Action that would be cool too. Another idea I had for an animated movie would be a comic book superhero story, animated completely in the comic book style! Well, I have no idea how long it will take to make my dream a reality, but hopefully one day we will meet at some exclusive party for famous movie makers!

Although, I really want ot be an actor, perhaps, I could start out that way and work my way up  , well still, if this happens to catch anyone's eye, and they would like to become part off my quest for fame and goal to bring back the magic to the movies...

*Note - some movies still have the magic, but much of it, IMO, saddly is gone...

Oh, and Leonardo DeCapprio is suppose to be playing Alexander the Great in an upcoming movieImage but my version will be much better!!!

Sign me up PP. :ears:

I don't really know what I could do...but ANYTHING to keep 2D animation alive, i'm there. Also, getting people like Dean DeBlois & Chris Sanders [Lilo & Stitch directors/creators who have an OBVIOUS love for animation] is a definite MUST.* The second priority is to do away with these cheapquels. BUT, if we have a great idea, make sure the animation standards the original has set are upheld.

* That's not to say I have anything against Pixar...we can make Lasseter an offer he can't refuse to become an "Official" Disney Animation House...

I think that the guys who made the Evil Dead movies used the name Renaissance Films or Pictures, so you may not want to use that.

heh....
You know what I've found?
When you stop saying "I want to be a writer" and start saying "I am a writer", it is all a bit easier.
That sounds very self-help book, I know, but it has helped me since I stopped thinking of myself as a wannabe and started thinking in terms of what I am actually doing.
Ok, waaaay OT now....
And getting quite wanky....

OTAKU NO VIDEO

Post by herman_the_german »

Please see Otaku No Video (1985), your plan has already been filmed. It is a hilarious documentary on these japanese youths who plan to take over the world thru animation. And they succeed.

Phillip, whatever you do, don't let your animation company's first release be a space-age updating of a traditional "boys own" adventure tale.

Don't for example release Robert Louis Stephenson's "Kidnapped" in outer space. Especially if it's using handdrawn animation (but computer generated backgrounds) :)

Just a small tip there.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Phillip,

Why would you want to aquire Disney after you have your own Animation Studio?

Walt did not want to aquire Felix the Cat, The Captain and Kids, Koko the Clown or any other old characters that came before from other studios. You need to look inside yourself and find the Walt Disney, Jim Henson, or John Lassater inside of you. You should be inspired by the films that Walt made, you should be inspired by anient fables and stories...just like Walt......but you must make them your own stories or you should come up with original stories like Dumbo and Lady and the Tramp if you want to be a Guru of Animation. You also should think entertainment, if you chose to base your film on an existing story make sure it's something that everyone like's to read not something people are forced to read like the Iliad.

I also think before you start your Animation Studio you should do some research into how long it takes to make an Animated film and how much talent you will need. Most Animators do not make loads of money, only a handful make six figure salaries. You should pay them the union minimums or do your production in an area of the country that the cost of living is less than it is in the Los Angeles area. Most Animators would rather starve and work on there own projects than work on someone else's project that they don't get paid much on. You might also want to take some Animation Classes so you know what to look for in your Animators. Walt was not just a buisness man he knew the basics of the craft and I think thats what made the diffrence.

Peace Out

Yeah, Ole Blue, a lot of what you said did make sense and would be my goal. The reason I would like to aquire disney, is because I think it is still special and don't want it to spin off into some weird direction, diening a horible death... I would want to give it a peaceful end, if it were going to end... do some nice fairytales in the disneyesk manner, so that it could end the same way it began... I think the last few big fairytales should be done by disney... I also wouldn't mind having marketing rights to the company  , but this would be in addition to my own company, and I would have my name on the last few disney pictures...

My main goal is to actually have a production company for live action movies, that could spin off into an animation division...

But either way I get there is fine with me. I don't neccessarily want my movies to be geared toward children either...

Anyway, I guess we'll see how things pan out... I am still in the beggining stages... :)

I always wanted to get into animation, I even went to art school and took some film classes with the intention.

::warning thread drift:::

It didn't happen... but I always watched stuff like GI Joe and He-Man when it first came out and I'd sit there and think about how I could do it better. I'd like to do a show like that, just not make it corny, ya know? As far as He-Man went, I would have dropped Prince Adam, that was stupid. Orko was actually funny and kinda clever, but I would have made it much more violent and dark. I'd have him actually kill his enemies instead of throwing them into a mud puddle.

GI Joe was okay, but same thing, they never got hurt or killed the bad guys, even though they were mostly robot soldiers. And that thing with the lesson at the end of each episode? Gone! No one needs that crap, have the heroes be heroic and the kids can learn their lesson off of that.

Thundercats were cool and I loved Robotech! If I did a show, I'd make it like that.
