Hurry i need your help!

Post by disneyfella »

i know i should've posted this under the other aspect ratio thread, but this was a question i needed answering soon. i have the opportunity to buy a couple of anchor bay releases of old disney movies pretty cheap. however, Nikki, Wild dog of the North is in fullscreen. I was wondering if it ever got a widescreen release? if it has, then i'm holding out until i find another one in widescreen, but if not then i HAVE to get this one soon. someone please help me quick! :o

Nikki, was a 1960 movie about a wolf/dog in the wilderness (in the spirit of Walt's True Life Adventures). I know it was released theatrically, because it says so in Disney A-Z. What it doesn't give is the aspect ratio on this one. I'll check out imdb.com, but they'll doubtfully have much on this title. please let me know if any of you guys come up with anything.

it is was a true life adventure and in the 60s most likely will be fullscreen, either way anchor bay never releases movie without been their OAR at least not yet. example davy crocket on the movie poster says it was shot in widescreen but the dvds are fullscreen.

well according to imdb.com it's supposedly 1.33:1 and amazon.com only has the fullscreen aspect ratio listed (even though it is out of stock at that!). therefore, i'm going to assume it'll be o.k.

while i'm at it, i'll tell you where to get it if any of you are interested. i was at my local K-Mart (yes, at least one of them still exists) and they got a ton of anchor bay titles for like 5.99 or something. i mean like watcher in the woods special edition, nikki, etc. i don't know how long they are going to keep them (especially since some of them are out of print), so that was my big hurry. i guess it is the original aspect ratio so i'll go ahead and get it and let you guys know if it was a good flick or not.

IMDb is highly unreliable when it comes to aspect ratios, but this one is probably open-matte presentation and shot full-frame.

Which titles do they have at K-Mart that are anchor bay? I'm going to St. Louis this weekend and will try to find a K-Mart if I know which movies there are.

well, i saw Tex, Watcher in the Woods, Nikki Wild Dog Of The North (which by the way was extremely entertaining with great picture and sound though lacking any special features), Napoleon and Samantha, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. I'm sure the titles wil vary from each store, and hopefully we'll be gettin gmore in with the electronics section overhaul we're getting. hope this helps.
