Who misses the traditional Disney logo and music during the opening of a movie?


I mean, is really cool that now they change the logo and music so it fits the theme of the movie but it's not the same.

I remember that I used to feel like I was going to experience something special each time I saw/heard the logo.

This is another one of those things where some people will say Disney sucks for changing things and some people will say Disney sucks if they don't change anything. I like the old logo AND the themed logos.

Altered studio logos rock!

Seriously, the altered logos on The (non-Disney) Cat in the Hat were the only good things about that movie.

I enjoy seeing both, for example the logo being 'branded' onto the screen in home on the range, the logo 'unlocking' in atlantis and many more but i do love the orginal one, but i wouldn't want to here it all the time, i think it's nice to have a bit of diversity every now and then.

Well but take in consideration the 20th Fox logo as an example. It has stayed the same way ever but they change it after the presentation like in Moulin Rouge, X-men, Planet of the Apes and The Day After Tomorrow.

That's an awesome way to go.

Yes, I immediately thought of X-Men when I saw this post. I do like the original blue and silver one, but it's good for a change once in a while. Maybe they could have seperate versions for the "enhanced home theater mix" and for the "theatrical" run of movies? Haha.
It's not really that big a deal, but I do miss that howowooo..woweeeeeoooh!

I think we're all more fond of the light blue castle logo screen as that's what's more familiar. I'm not a huge fan of the orange logo in front of the black background, but I think that a customized opening logo usually works well (<i>Home on the Range</i> and <i>Recess: School's Out</i> come to mind). I really like Pixar's Walt Disney Pictures logo as well. Glad they've used that every time.

Sorry dizfan, but I think it IS Cinderella's castle. I'm not sure what profound knowledge leads me to that conclusion, but it doesn't look very much like the Sleeping Beauty Castle, which has a more vertical look to it.

The castle in Disneyland (anaheim) has the very same shape as the one of the logo. So it IS Sleeping Beauty Castle.

I think it definitely is Cinderella's castle because at the beginning of Cinderella II:Dreams Come True, we see the blue disney logo and it morphs into the image of the actual castle in the background

That was basically my point. Everytime I hear that music with the castle taking form I remember my childhood. Even so, that it lasts just a couple of second but I never skip it.

I think the whole point to the castle argument is that castle outline is wider, making it more similar to Disneyland's castle, which is said to belong to Sleeping Beauty. However, the theme park castles don't necessarily match up to the movie castles, so there really isn't a right or wrong answer.

Yeah I sort have the same feeling about not that I think the logo blending in is a bad thing its cool. But the Blue castle with the music also always helped differencieate the differernce betweent and animated classic to a sequal. I mean I know the difference casue well I am big on the kind of stuff but they do the same for the sequal the cstle blending and all. But thats just my opinion .

Same here. It brings back many childhood memories, I always enjoyed that music. It was a warm, magical feeling of anticipating. Especially at the cinemas when that logo came on, I almost died knowing that the film was to begin. Almost like Star Wars fans and "LucasFilm, LTD", people go wild. I love Disney

It only bothers me when they decide to alter the logo on old films. they used a new logo for the "Original Theatrical Release" of The Lion King. Sure it fits with the red and black tones of the opening sequence but we all know that aint the same one used in 1994 and if it aint the same one...it doesnt work.

If they wanna keep using logos like that for today's films go ahead. But itll get old eventually.

Actually, Disney has mentioned in press releases (most recently, the Disneyland 50th Anniversary Press Releases) that Sleeping Beauty Castle has stood as the symbol for many entities of Walt Disney Co. included its movies opening banner.

If you look at the PIXAR treatment of the opening castle, you'll see it's Disneyland's Castle.
