The Santa Clause Re-Release

I found on an internet site that the original Santa Clause is up for pre-order for september 7, so I went to the Ultimate Disney and the official Disney release calenders an it's not listed on either one. Does anyone know this to be true.

Thank you very much for sharing this bit of news. I just did a little research myself and found out that several online DVD retailers have it up for pre-order. According to some websites it also contains 'The Making of the Santa Clause' and 'Trailers'!?

Were these also featured on the previous R1 Special Edition? I have the Region 2 (NL) Special Edition but there is no sign of these features anywhere.

It's showing up on Deep Discount DVD as SANTA CLAUSE SPECIAL EDITION WIDESCREEN or FULL SCREEN but it does not show up ar Amazon

Both Santa Clause movies are undergoing a price drop in September. The new SRP will be $19.99. The Santa Clause Special Edition is a sorry excuse for a Special Edition. The only trailers are for other movies, and the "Making-of" is a brief featurette hosted by Bernard. It's unfortunate that we probably won't see a real good DVD for years. The sequel's DVD is fluffy, but pretty good, at least with commentary and deleted scenes.

But hey, The Santa Clause 3 is in conceptual phases, so maybe there'd be something worthwhile, instead of merely promotional.

So just for clearification pourposes is this the 3rd time that the first Santa Clause is going to be relased???

Also is thier really going to be a Santa Clause 3? If so why ? And does anyone know what it could be about. Personally I dont think its necessary. I mean what else could possiobly be on the little Santa Clause card???

I hope i can get the widescreen edition because i bought it at target when it first came out but i did not know at the time that there were two separate editions.

I wonder if there is a chance that Disney will restore the scene that they removed...

For those of you who don't know, there was a scene on the laserdisc where Scott Calvin's ex-wife gave him a phone number of her new guy's parents. Scott looks at the number and says "1-900-Spank Me?? I know that number!"

This whole scene was removed from both DVD releases.

It is? Wow, I wonder why? Maybe if you do call it then you get some sex line or something. I have the original VHS version and it has the scene still intact.

That is why. I believe the number is 1-800-Spank-Me, though. For TV versions, they change/d it to "1-800-Pound" (

Wow, some grandmother let her kids call a phone number that was 1-800 Spank Me???

If the kids just went and dialed the number, thats one thing, but for the grandmother to complain because she let them dial it is another (even if she did think it was phony...)

I almost call shenanigans on this, because I don't think a kid who is old enough to translate "Spank Me" into telephone digits would be playing around on the telephone, and would probably realize that phone number had nothing to do with Santa in the first place...

EDIT: I definitely would have preferred the TV edit to having the scene removed entirely.

I have the other release that was the widescreen NON SE one. So I doubt I will buy this one unless its THX certified..
