This is of course fantastic news. Golden Girls and BMW are must-buys for me. I'd like to have HI, too. I'm not sure how I'll balance that out, as I seriously doubt I'll be able to get them at the same time.

On a related note, I didn't think tvshowsondvd.com was very fair to UD in their news over this.

As for TVShowsOnDVD's news related posts back in May, I found them to be nice to UD. In fact, it was I who told them about it (I'm mentioned in the news along with UD). Their original quote was:
Nobody seems to know Disney/Buena Vista better than our friends at UltimateDisney.com: they usually get the heads-up on in0the-works DisneyDVD releases faster than anyone else on a regular basis. While they tend to concentrate on Disney's general releases, every once in a while they have great info for us about Buena Vista's TV-on-DVD releases.

This morning they have broken the news with their exclusive story about four major TV-on-DVD box sets coming out late this November. The top half of that story is devoted to Tim Taylor and his family and friends, and their long-awaited digital disc debut:
and ended with:
Holy moly, this is sure to please a LOT of our readers, not to mention my wife. Buena Vista hasn't released this information through official sources yet, but stay tuned, because we're working to bring you the studio announcement on this and the other titles mentioned in UltimateDisney's terrific story. Our thanks to them, and to reader Paul Hillsdon for letting us know about it.
But, this time around, they did not get their info from UD; its from Disney's press release. All media gets those press releases, not just Disney sites. So, they didnt have to thank UD this time around for "breaking the news".

Anyways, I hope there's more to the releases than jsut some deleted scenes and commentaries (i'm talking about HI). I mean, after seeing what Seinfeld is getting, this seems rather mediocre. But I guess it really cant be worse than Paramount's TV-DVD releases (Frasier, Cheers). I prob be picking up HI if I can find the money. Never really got into BMW, tho of the few eppys I saw, it seemed good. I have never seen the Golden Girls.

I'm still deciding if I'm going to get Boy Meets World next week, if I do, I'll get season 2 as well...but Home Improvement is a MUST buy. I'm planning on getting the entire series.
I'm not sure if I want Boy Meets World on DVD. It's a good show, but I don't know how many times i can watch Shawn and Cory get in to trouble.

This is fabulous news. Two of my favourite shows [The Golden Girls and Home Improvement] getting a DVD release on the same day :) Hopefully both of them will get a UK/European release at some stage.

Damn, and here I was waiting for a in-depth report: Is Bea Arthur actually a man?

I might pick this up at some stage, but if I get this, I have to buy Magnum P.I. and then the floodgates are open.

Still I have incredibly fond memories of this, and it is one to think about at least. At the very least, great to see Disney getting into the TV on DVD game in a big way.

Paul- a little heavy on the rolling eyes, are we? I've posted before about tvshowsondvd's original story that gave a lot of acclaim to UD. I was referring to the comments posted in their new stories, like this:
Last May there was a report from a Disney-themed fan site, UltimateDisney.com, that said Boy Meets World - Season 2 would arrive on DVD this November 30th.

Now Disney has told us and other websites that this date was just a rumor, and that the real release date is November 23rd (before the after-Thanksgiving sales rush, we notice).
The way I read it, it almost sounds like they are saying UD didn't have any solid info for their original announcement, and I know they can be a tad haughty over there sometimes. But who knows, maybe I am just misreading it. I am, however, fully aware that no credit was due for yesterday's original announcement.

Oh, and welcome, thegoldengirlsbiz! New members are great- especially those with Golden Girls avatars! :D

Well last time when the Boy Meets World Season 1 announcement came in, they said:
Back in early December, we reported to you that another website was saying Boy Meets World would debut on DVD in June 2004. We hate to say this, but that report was wrong.
So as quick as they are to jump on the information, it's wrong because all three TV DVD sets scheduled for this summer were delayed a couple of months. That merits  , I think.
Is there any news on Moonlighting which was reported to be coming out round about the same time back in May
No, but seeing how Disney lumped together just the three sitcoms, we should still be hearing about "Moonlighting" soon.

Anyhow, I am so glad that Season 2 of "Boy Meets World" is coming out this quickly, and "Home Improvement" is still my favorite show, and I'm thrilled about that. For a while, it seemed like these two would never come to DVD, and I'm really happy with the way Disney is doing TV shows right now. Plus it's neat that we'll actually be able to see the cast & Michael Jacobs on the Boy Meets World commentaries.

Indeed it does. I don't think anyone would get mad at them because Disney changed their release dates, it happens all the time, but they seem to get so worked up over it. They have to say "it wasn't us, it was our source." I just don't think that's very fair, and not a good way to maintain good relationships with sources.

I'm really excited for Golden Girls, even if it's rather pathetic that all they could scrounge up is a measley featurette on fashion featuring ( ::shudders:: ) Joan Rivers...Hopefully we'll be getting featurettes on the ACTUAL show (and maybe a commentary track or two?) in future releases. 50 bucks is also pretty steep for a 3-disc set, especially considering that WB releases their Friends sets (which contain 4-discs) for about 35 bucks. Yeah, yeah, I know; I'm such a whiner. :P

Wow - even if I liked the Golden Girls(I thought Betty White was quite good, but never cared for any of the other three in this or any other project) I think the Joan and Melissa Rivers thing would make it a non-purchase.

As for Boy Meets World, I will wait for his big brother's far superior Wonder Years.

DisneyKid - I agree with your comments on prices. I am afraid I dont understand why say CSI costs around $ 60 and Star Trek:Voyager around $ 120. CSI certainly must have greater music clearance issues too.
Disneyland Trips - 07/77, 07/80, 07/83, 05/92, 05/96, 05/97, 06/00, 11/00, 02/02, 06/02, 11/02, 04/06, 01/07, 07/07, 11/07,11/08, 07/09

Disneyworld Trips - 01/05

Disney Cruise - 01/05

Six Flags DK - 03/09, 05/09. 06/09, 07/09

New "Friends" season sets appear to carry a retail price of $44.99, so it's just a $5 difference. I figure these shows won't sell quite like "Friends" does, so the slight price difference is probably meant to off-set that. Then again, "Friends" has higher costs to clear (and larger royalties to pay) than these, so you'd think one less disc would make Disney come out even.

So $50 SRP is a little bit high, but two of these are my all-time favorite shows, so no price is too high for me on them. Of course, with holiday sales and future price cuts and multi-season deals, no one will actually pay too close to $50.

I didn't think of that. I keep forgetting about price cuts (I'm too used to buying Friends in the 30-something price range), so I should be able to find Golden Girls for at least the 40-something price range (maybe even 30-something if I'm buying it at the right place at the right time).

Wow, Home Improvement is finally coming! I can't hardly wait to watch reruns of Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson. The whole cast is so funny. :)

Even Pamela Anderson is in the DVD set. Cool.

Thanks for the info Luke. Maybe I'll buy this DVD instead of Simba's Pride. lol. I'm so excited!
