Has anyone else looked at it? I loved it, the animated movie guide was woinderful, especially that cool pic of Eleanor Audley and Maleficent. God, I wish I had Tony Baxter's house.

I got it on Saturday morning and looked at it when I got back from seeing The Princess Diaries 2 and Alien vs. Predator.
It was the greatest issue ever!!!!

Can you please tell me what the cover looks like? Or post a pic?

Chapters always has this magazine in a different place based on the cover (if it's an animated character, in the children's section; if it's a park, in the travel section; if it's a person, the entertainment section).

I can't find a pic to post yet, but as soon as I find a pic, I'll post it, but it's white, with a huge bucket of popcorn with various animated characters coming out of it and sitting beside it.

Tony Baxter may not have his house for much longer. He was let go by Disney earlier in the week and replaced by Eric Jacobson.

I keep buying it and not getting a subscription, too, lol! I've been buying issues since Winter 1998. I guess I would've saved a whole lot of money by just finally subsrcibing!

I had a free subscription from the Disney Club. And after that closed, got a special offer for two years at $9.98 and then I forgot to take advantage of that and got a three year for $14.98 deal. So I grabbed it.

Fall 2004 issue has a bucket of popcorn with the characters mixed in and says "Special Collector's Issue" on the top left. It's an awesome issue, I was enjoying the articles. Will finish the read on my two hour train ride tomorrow.

It is an excellent issue, and the first I have picked up in a while (the local Borders carries them).

I did notice one odd thing in that issue, listed under Make Mine Music:

"'The Martins and the Coys' section that opens the film was cut from the DVD version because the battling hillbillies were deemed to be too violent". (p.31)

Huh?

Is that the official line now? I thought it was because of the stereotyping! That seems to be OK, because on the page before they mention (in regards to Saludos Amigos): "When Donald Duck meets Jose Carioca, a clash of cultures (and stereotypes) occurs".

So now Disney seem to be OK witn saying they left in stereotypes, as long as animated violence is gone? Which one is it?

Wacky people.

Still a good issue.

No, I think it's always been for "excessive gunplay".

I think Disney are worried a kid may start to play with the family gun or something...

...which of course has no bearing on it not being released in the UK or other gunless countries.

I finally bought the new issue, and noticed that it's the first fall issue in years that hasn't featured Mickey.

Not much else to say: loved the issue, as always.

And yes, I wish I had Tony Baxter's house, and all the "stuff" he has in it!

Fair enough. I always thought it was the hillbilly thing.

Weren't there guns in Atlantis? And Treasure Planet (of a sort)? Even Lilo and Stitch had "guns". So did Mulan! And Peter Pan...and Tarzan if memory serves.

So all of those movies are OK (and they make gunplay look "cool"), but a 60 year old film that has a comical hillbilly warfare might encourage kids to have a clan war with a rival family?

Surely Leonard could explain the film and everyone would be happy.

I love Disney films, but their thinking is completely screwed when it comes to PC issues. It is as if they are saying they understand families and children better than families withn children.

I think these are different cases because it was the villains that were the ones using guns. I'm not sure about Mulan, though, b/c I don't remember any guns. Were guns invented by that time period?

You are sooooo right Loomis.... and your also hysterical.... I can just see all those kid initiated clan wars now ! - hee hee

By the way, there was also guns featured in The Rescuers, Brother Bear, 101 Dalmatians etc... It would seem that Disney can't make a movie without at least someone carrying a gun... hmmm....
