Little Mermaid/Cinderella Custom Covers BOTH AVAILABLE!

Post by rb_canadian181 »

Hey everybody. If you read my cinderella post you probably know that i've been working on remaking the cover artwork for Cinderella and The Little Mermaid to fit into DVD case size. Well it took a little while to get these done but I managed to re-make the DVD covers out of scans of the VHS classic covers. For pictures, see below. I haven't totally finshed either one. I still have to do the back for both. If anyone can scan me the back cover art for the Cinderella Classic VHS PLEASE let me know! I'm in desperate need! I have the scan for The Little Mermaid. I just havent got the chance to work on it yet. Anyway-i'm open to comments on the two that I have so far. I dont plan on sending them out to anyone until i get them finished, sorry.
Enjoy!

Very nice, rb_canadian181!
Both are beautiful covers and I wish Disney would use at least "The Little Mermaid" one for the DVD... This "Little Mermaid" cover even has a nostalgia factor to me. It was what, my most-rented video ever before I could get my hands on the sell-through copy, hehe. I used to watch it almost every day. :D

That's awesome! I'm interested in getting the little mermaid cover art when you're done! I hope disney releases the theatrical poster. Is ariel in top of the rock at night (you can only see her silhuette) and the moon and her shadow reflect on the water! or even the one where she's underwater with her hand towards the surface! :D

I would love that too, but knowing that the DVD coverart is going to be very colorful to call kid's atention, we can hope that the special gift set (if one is produced) is going to be something along those lines.

Thanks everybody :) . Well mainly I'm making them for personal use and to share with others. I don't know If I should try to pitch them to Disney or not, they don't always reply to my e-mails. Last night I started working on the back case for the little mermaid so give me about 2 days and that one will be ready to send out.Oh! and my dad ordered a DVD burner and it just got delivered yesterday! Thank you TigerDirect!
Anyway, if anyone has more comments, suggestions I'm open cause I saved them so I could change every piece of the picture(layers)

Oh and the original pictures are very large in size and very high quality so that if you print them for your DVD covers they won't look soft. They should turn out sharp, clear and colorful!

Much like your new avatar, which is awesome, though I do miss seeing a little Sanderson here and there.

Cool! I like TLM backcover and how you added the movie stills. You picked out good ones! I'm sorry that my Cinderella cover is in such bad condition. If you ultimately can't find a good one I'll be happy to send it again anyway. Have you tried contacting friends, cousins, neighbors, old classmates who also may have it?

Overall, very good work! You should definitely send them to Disney (probably you'll get more luck with BVHE) for consideration.

I was wondering if you were going to put the technical specification on the back cover? It looks great!!!!

Thanks for everyone's kind words. I'll keep looking for the back cover art. The sad thing is, the IGNORANT bar code is right on top of part of the image on the back. geez :x hopefully i can find someone with the laserdisc. generally, i left the "technical specs" out so i could fit in more of the image, you'll notice that on the vhs, there's more image below where i cut it off on the dvd. it would be pretty easy for me to replace them if anyone wants it.
since it's a custom dvd i left out any mention of what bonus features were in it, but if anyone wants me to add something in for them its not ahrd so just ask!
i think i'll send an e-mail to BHVE, liek you said. i mean the least i could do is try. keep your fingers crossed for a reply!
