What TV shows do you most want to come to DVD?

Post by lord-of-sith »

I know there are a ton of TV shows we want to come to DVD, that's why this is not a poll. So what do you want to come the most. My pick goes to Seinfeld, I heard it was coming but I have yet to hear further details.

The first two or three seasons of "Seinfeld" are supposed to be out by year's end.

My most wanted that's not announced or coming soon would be "The Adventures of Pete & Pete." Even though there's a huge following for the show online, it's Nickelodeon/Paramount/Viacom, and they're often pretty obtuse, so I don't expect it to see the light of day, unfortunately.

Beyond that, "Home Improvement" (which we'll hopefully get an announcement on soon, for this November), "ALF" (coming in 10 days), "Boy Meets World" (coming in August), and "NewsRadio" (coming at some point) in season sets shall really rock my world.
"Fifteen years from now, when people are talking about 3-D, they will talk about the business before 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and the business after 'Monsters vs. Aliens.' It's the line in the sand." - Greg Foster, IMAX chairman and president

I just thought about that 70's show, I would like to see DVD's of that. I have Cheers seasons 1&2. I have yet to see season 3, but I know it exsists. I also have The Simpson season 1, and I'm going to get the others some time.

Oh. IMDB had a poll of "What Cancelled DVDs Do You Want To Start Back Up" and MITM was on it. That's great news. Thanks, Netty!

I'm fairly lucky in that most of the shows that I want are already out on DVD or have been anounced. Mainly I'm waiting for the Upcoming releases.

Upcoming Releases I'll be buying:

Seinfeld
The rest of King of the Hills as they show up
The rest of the Simpsons as they show up
The rest of South Park as they show up
Da Ali G show
Conan's 10th aniversary special
SpongeBob Season 2

Already released That I want:
Season 5 & 7 of Star Trek TNG and all of Voyager & DS9
Transformers (soooo pricey)
Futurama #3
CSI

What I'd like to see released:
Andy Richter controlls the Universe
It would be cool if they could release all the cheesy news stories from the Daily Show
Beavis & Butthead in proper season formats
The Xmen cartoons that were out in the early 90's

Ooh, Growing Pains, Seinfeld, and Andy Richter Controls The Universe would all be great. Andy Richter's show had me rolling with each episode.

As far as unnannounced and not-in-devolopment-that-I-know-of projects, the top of my list has always belonged, definately, to State of Grace. a wonderful little show from Fox Family channel a few years back. It was a really great family show, and ran on Fox for its first season. Then Disney picked up the channel and changed it to ABC Family, changing around timeslots for the show in the processs. After an underpromoted move to Fridays, and then to other days, its (very good) ratings dropped, and they returned it to its original Monday night slot. However, they *sigh* underpromoted it again and ratings continued to dip because people couldn't find the show. So, it was axed after two seasons. The exec who cancelled it said that the channel had a mandate to produce "high-quality family programming," and then they replaced it with trashy adult-and-teen-only oriented reality shows like The Bachelor, The Last Resort, Perfect Match, Switched!, Knock First, etc. Which is something that really offends me, because State of Grace WAS a high quality family show that spoke to its audience without speaking down to us and was just really, really fun. If they would have scheduled it at a proper, consistant time and promoted the fact that it was STAYING on that night/time, it would've done better in its second season. Season 1 was a ratings hit, I think.

Anyway, sigh. Rant over.

Other than that I'd also love The Beach Boys: An American Family 2-part miniseries that ran on ABC in the late 90's (1999, I think?) And full season sets of Providence instead of a best-of. 7th Heaven is coming, but I'd like that to be more than just barebones. Oh and Early Edition, too. Great show, that/

Yes, Seinfeld is one of mine too, and it is coming out in Australia, at least on October 20.

See here:
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/227336 (Season 1 & 2)
and here:
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/227659 (Season 3)

Stuff that is out I intent to buy are the remaining Star Trek, X-Files, Buffy/Angel sets I don't own (largely the last few series of each). I'd also like to pick up the Highlander series if they ever come down in price. I'm also slowly making my way through Doctor Who DVDs. And Batman: TAS at some stage too.

Announced (I probably buy all these eventually, but some I already have on order):
- Kung Fu Season 2 onwards
- Magnum P.I. (coming September)
- Black Books Collection + Black Books Series 3
- Spaced: Definitive Collection
- Star Trek Original Series

Wishlist:
- Star Trek : Enterprise
- Star Trek: Animated (coming soon, we hope! But rumour has it, only through Columbia House at first)
- Two Guys, A Girl & a Pizza Place (David Ogden Stiers & Ryan Reynolds)
- Two Guys & A Girl (Seasons 3 & 4 of above)
- Spider-man: The Animated Series (90s) - as Season sets
- X-Men (90s) Animated Series
- Sam & Max (animated)
- maybe the Real Ghostbusters?

And of course the Disney Wishlist with all the animated series but especially:
- Duck Tales
- Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers
- Tale Spin
- Goof Troop
- Aladdin
- Lilo & Stitch
- House of Mouse
Behind the Panels - Comic book news, reviews and podcast
The Reel Bits - All things film

At the moment, I can only think of

Seinfeld

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures if Superman

Leave It To Beaver (Not really for me, but my mom longs for all 6 seasons, even though we recorded 232/234 of the episodes off TV Land)

That 70's Show (Maybe-Probably)

I'm sure there's others I would get in spite of myself if they were released (I thought and still sort of think TV on DVD is a very silly but very smart marketing plan, as we get enough TV and my main interest is movies, but alas, I have grown to collect many, I just hope I don't get too addicted), but all I can think of besides those above I'm already collecting or are coming soon.

I already own:

Alias (Seasons 1 & 2, can't wait for Season 3 DVD Sept. 7 and Season 4 on ABC in January)

Family Guy (Seasons 1-3, can't wait for Season 4 to air next summmer)

The Flintstones (Season 1, probably won't be getting further sets)

Monty Python's Flying Circus (Complete Series Set on 14 Discs; much better deal than buying them in the color-coded half-season sets)

The Simpsons (Seasons 1-3, Season 4 on Christmas List)

I plan on getting:

Garfield and Friends - (Can't Remember much, but I LOVE Garfield Comic Strip and Christmas Special [coming on october 26!])

Pee-Wee's Playhouse - (A HUGE Maybe; I don't remember the series at all but apparantly I got up at the crack of dawn every Saturday in anticipation, and the show's Christmas special [coming on october 19!] is a monumental family holiday favorite, so i'd probably like the series) - Complete Series coming to DVD November 9

The O.C. (I debated hugely on this, as I've seen every episode in Season 1 [supposedly coming Oct. 26], and did not enjoy many of the plot twists, but overall, a great show, so I'll most likely cave [what a hippocrite  ])

Batman - The Animated Series - Loved it every Sat. morning for its enormous difference in tone from the other "kiddie" cartoons (though I loved and watched them as well)
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?
