Harry Potter DVD Artwork

Post by AwallaceUNC »

DVDAnswers.com has posted "potential" cover art for November 23rd's release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on DVD:

http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0 ... &n=1&burl=

I really like this cover art. Sadly, it looks like it's going to be amaray without a slip-cover. That wouldn't be bad (well, I would prefer amaray with slip-cover :P), but it won't match the first two.

Cool :D I am really going to get this movie when it comes out to DVD. It sounds very cool. I wish I could know more about the Shrek 2 DVD that comes out on the same day that The Incredibles come out to theaters (note: just found out that Incredibles will be the first PG film released by PIXAR :( )

It's not bad, despite the obvious fact that Harry has been made to appear more "studly" for all the pre-teen girls.

Actually, The Incredibles hasn't received an MPAA rating yet.

As for the cover, Harry does look quite studly. They should keep the same packaging for the last two for continuity's sake, but I'd be happier with some more substantial making-of.

I like it, even if it's not the best ever. It doesn't bother me that this case won't match the previous two completely. Why? Because WB will more than likely re-issue the first two films as SE's within the next two years (I'd place a wager on next year since there won't be a new HP DVD then), and if so, then they'll be in amaray cases for sure. It makes me wonder, though, if WB will ever use U.S, poster artwork again for their HP DVD's. Both Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban used the international posters instead of the domestic ones for their covers.

Also, here are some (very) basic specs from Aaron's link for those who may have missed it:

* Deleted Scenes
* Conjuring a Scene featurette that takes an in-depth look at the making of key scenes from the film
* Creating The Vision feature which includes a revealing interview with author J.K. Rowling
* Test your memory with "Magic You May Have Missed"
* Help Crookshanks "Catch Scabbers"
* Go on an unexpected quest with Sir Cadogan
* Two self guided tours of Honeydukes and Professor Lupin's Classroom
* A sing-along with the Hogwarts choir
* A Hogwarts Portrait Gallery,
* Cast interviews hosted by Johnny Vaughan and the Shrunken Head
* An Electronic Arts game preview
* Meet the animal trainers in care of the magical creatures
* Trailers for all three Harry Potter films
* And more

Sounds fairly identical to the Chamber of Secrets DVD. I hope there's more substantial content under "and more." Since rumors have been flying of SE's for the first two, I was wondering if WB would get it right by giving the third one in-depth DVD treatment to match the future SE's so that fans will only have to double dip on the first two films. By the looks of it, though, if WB plans on having the series match as a DVD whole, it seems we'll be double dipping on each and every HP title...

Yeah, I was hoping the rumors of a SE for #3 would hold true as well. Maybe they will rerelease all 3 between now and #4, and #4 will debut as a special edition. Let's hope so, because they are some of the least impressive DVDs (for such a high-profile movie) that I've seen.

Like Disneykid said, WB could possibly be starting a new SE Collection for the HP titles, with Amaray cases and new, better features included on each disc; but I highly doubt that's the case. I hate this new look to the DVD! The old digipaks were cool and I want my HP collection to look the same! It was bad enough the first had a hand-drawn cover; then they switched to an actual photograph. Look at this cover; it's sooo ugly! The picture is horrible! Even the spine is bad-looking. I don't think this is the final art, but WB better stay with the look they've established and just take a nice poster art for the cover!

Remember, people, the key word here is potential cover art. This is by no means a final representation of art or packaging. We should probably wait until more DVD sites get all the details straight, much less post the same cover art, before the wailing and gnashing of teeth over "the loss of the Digipack" starts. :roll:

I really could care less if there was a "Special Edition" of the first HP DVDs or not. I'd much rather see an eventual remake of the films themselves, since Warner has flubbed their first attempt so badly already. But that's, of course, just wishful thinking. :|

I don't like it. I think the art looks photoshopped, and I hate the fact that it's in an amaray case. I mean, I'm all for Warner moving towards amarays, but they could at least keep the continuity in packaging for these films.

Then again, it is only "potential".

Yeah, the only complaint is continuity. I hate digipacks, as well as WB's slip-covers. But then, I hate pretty much all of WB's packaging (although the snappers do apparently keep the cost down).

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has a great art cover but I never seen the film. I read the book and it was the best book in the Harry Potter Series. :wink:

Well I remembered reading on AnimatedNews.com that at the Comic-Con, PIXAR gave some more info about the new movie and said that it was going to be rated PG. or else I am being fooled again and if I am, I will stop getting my news from there. :x

Well the cover art is not at all what I expected it to be but as someone said it is a potential cover nothing is in stone yet. So far the 2nd cover is my favorite but well see.

5 cents cheaper, or something like that. :roll: Wb has moved more and more towards packaging in Amarays, although the whole catalogue prob won't shift for quite some time. And, I expect HD-DVDs will prob be packaged in those new thinpaks, which I adore, as they save much space on my small shelf. I think the usage of digipaks for WB's 2-disc SEs is a nice touch, and makes them stand out from the crowd; albeit not very much, but you get teh gist.

That's where I read it!! Thanks for reminding me Uncle Remus! Here's the quote:
"The Incredibles: incredibly a PG?"

'Ros' in the AN Forums posts that Brad Bird's highly anticipated debut CGI project The Incredibles is to be Disney/Pixar's first PG-rated collaboration. "I couldn't believe my eyes - both Disney animated movies this year (Home On The Range and The Incerdibles) rated PG. It's an official source but right now I can't give you any details". We'll update this news as soon as it is confirmed.
Hmmm.... So not offical, but rumored.... I also read on AICN, i think, that at the Pixar conference at Comic-Con, Brad Bird said the film was basically "in the can" with some touch-ups and scorin left to do. So, it sounds plausible that MPAA has unofficially rated the film by now.

But, now were all getting way to Off-Topic!

I don't like the cover art and I don't think it's the final art. That film logo has to be silver/grey...

If the Incredibles gets the PG rating, that wouldn't be fair. Finding Nemo had some very scary action scenes in it. If the Incredibles are rated PG, then i will protest against the Princess Diaries Movies being rated G.
