hey its better!!!
because always they rerelease the dvd with 2 disc sets!! instead of the gold collection or limited issue!!
for example:
mulan gold collection - special ed. 2 disc set
tarzan standard - collectors edition
lion king limited issue - special edition
dinosour standard - collectors ed.
alice in wonderland gold collection - masterpiece
and many more!! jeje
so I am happy with the twice released dvds

Why does any business do any thing? For money, of course. Money keeps the business running and employees employed. When Disney re-releases a title on DVD, it's because there's a market interested in buying it for a first (or second) time on this format.
Since Disney got into the DVD game late, and their earliest DVD releases were often lacking in a lot of ways, re-releasing titles not only brings them more money but it satisfies customers who are hoping that their favorite movies are treated well on DVD, with first-rate picture and sound and a substantial amount of bonus material.
The home video industry is as much of a business as any other, and with people as excited about DVDs as they are right now, it's not surprising that Disney and every other studio is revisiting popular titles that didn't get the best DVD treatment the first time around.

Unfortunately, every movie studio is doing this. I think they're running out of names... Special Edition, Ultimate Edition, Deluxe Edition, We-just-want-more-money Edition. Personally, I don't mind studios re-releasing some movies and giving them the DVD attention they should have received in the first place. I mean, the first Mulan DVD was only a video transfer so the quality wasn't that great, and there were no bonus features. I have no problems spending more to get a great 2-Disc set.
What drives me crazy is the rumors of titles like Peter Pan, Dumbo, Fantasia, and others who already have special editions, anthology editions, etc...are going to get yet another release on dvd!
If they re-release any of those, it better be worth my money. Also what is rediculous is that some DTVs are being named special edition when that is the only edition, it is just going to confuse the common person. Not me or you of course.
I think it's mainly because the first run of DVDs that Disney released (limited edition, gold collection etc.) featured only an average video transfer and sound quality. That's probably because they were still hesitant about this format at the time. Plus, those editions didn't feature any real bonus features...

It is possible, of course, to not buy the first ("bare-bones") edition and wait for a SE or just buy the "bare-bones" edition and decide to live without a forthcoming SE. But quite a few will be "forced" to buy both, so, more business for Disney. I haven't done this with DVDs so far, but I did it several times with laserdiscs a few years ago, so I guess I've had enough...

It's also to make consumers buy it since it has a better edition then the origial relase or the first relase.
Example Limited Issue Disney DVD are boneless have no extras with the new special editions Disney adds new extras to it.

Hmm
Here is why.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
That is the whole reason why they give movies repetive releases.

That is something no one can control.
You can usually expect that with the release of a sequel.
But I really hate when a movie is coming out as an Special Edition and they keep selling the first edition. I won't mind if the first edition had a nice video/audio transfer and was just lacking on extras. I'd understand it for stores that keep them, so they can sell it. But by the studios themselves?
This thing is extremly annoying with Pocahontas. For us club members they keep on selling it in the brochures. and even worse, if you go to the disney movie club site you'll see it in "Our Picks" selection. Can't they just hold it and recycle the DVDS (if that can be done)? And as said before, I wouldn't mind if the DVD had a Lilo & Stitch kind of quality. But we know how bad the transfer is.
