Replacing Damaged DVDs Through Disney

Post by PhilMo »

Yes this can be done through Disney! So if one of your youngsters thinks the Toy Story 2 disc is a sandbox shovel, per the Disney website: “If you accidentally damage or break one of your Disney DVDs, you can get a replacement disc for a nominal charge of $6.95. Please call (800) 723-4763 for details.”

I’ve personally used this service about 2 months ago to replace a scratched Toy Story disc. If you want to read more about it, go to the Disney DVD & Video Website (http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/), click on DVD REGISTRATION & TECHNICAL SUPPORT, then click on FAQ.

Yeah just use that 1-800 # and they can help you out to replace the disk. I havn't had any problem with scratched DVD'S. but I bought the Vault Disney Pollyanna DVD and The 1st Disc Holder didn't work. Luckily the DVD Didn't get scratched but I need to get another one of those Double DVD Cases does Disney.com provide those to you ? I know that I registered the DVD on http://www.disney.com.

I'd like to know if they will offer cover art replacement. Especially since they sued the pants off DVDCoverArt.com

Oh and to Disney Guru: I think they would send you a new case as they are very cheap to make.
Joshua: I think they would also send you a new cover, for the same reason; it isn't going to cost them very much to send (essentially) a piece of paper out, and it's an easy way to keep the customer satisfied.
I think both of you should ring and find out. I think that's what I'm going to do.

About 30 Minnutes Ago. I called that 1-800# for Disney and asked them about the Double White DVD Case. And they said they will send me one free of charge. + they are also going to include a list of all of the current Disney Movies available for purchase. I can't wait to get it. I am like so totally happy to get my case.

I just got off the phone with them, and they said they would send me a Spirited Away case with artwork. So they will replace everything.

When you got your DVD replaced, did you have to send them back your old one?

I know this is very cheeky, but is there any small chance that a kindly soul could phone and ask if someone from another country can get a replacement disc? My parents will only let me make an international call if I *know* I can get a replacement through that number. (No worries if it's too expensive to call that no. I'm not sure if it's free-phone for you guys to call it).
Thought I'd ask just in case!

Does anyone know if they offer replacements for the theme park exclusive discs? I know they'll replace discs from their other labels (Touchstone, etc.).

My copy of Where Magic Lives: Magic Kingdom had a hairline crack in the inner ring when I bought it.

Damaged DVDs

Post by disneyunlimited »

I checked the Disney UK site but could find no similar warranty scheme over here so I presume this service is US only...

Just curious, though - does it cover deleted DVDs as well? e.g. Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians, Lady & The Tramp, etc. etc.

Yes, this service is only valid for US, who live outside it need to buy another dvd if there still sold by the stores.

We can just lament this lack of Disney in not offering this service outside US.

That's good that Disney sends DVD's to replace the broken ones.
I never had a damage or broken DVD but my time will come someday.

Toy Story

Post by disneyunlimited »

Sorry, PhilMo, didn't realise Toy Story was deleted in the US. It's now a "budget" DVD over here in the UK (I bought TS1 & 2 recently for 4.99 GBP each!) and it was also available cheap in Australia when I was over there a few months ago.

Anyway, as I said in my last post, I'd be interested to know whether Disney would replace a DVD that has been out of print for 4 or 5 years, e.g. Jungle Book, Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians, Lady & The Tramp, all of which were "limited issues" only available for a short time...

I just called Disney and they will replace even these type of OOP titles. BUT she recommended a customer should always call first to make sure they have them in stock.
