Special Edition Christmas DVDs?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

I was wondering if anyone here has heard of any rereleases or special edition issues of any Christmas DVDs for this year. I usually start buying a few around the end of summer, but I'd hate to buy some just to have them rereleased a month later. For example, I'd love to buy both Miracle on 34th Streets, but I know that this is the 10 year anniversary for the remake, so perhaps a reissue of both will hit the stores? It seems like It's A Wonderful Life might be due for a better release as well. And then there's White Christmas- this is it's 50th anniversary. However, I haven't heard anything about upcoming releases. :?:

I don't think a re-release for the Miracle on 34th Street remake is likely, and the original DVD is done pretty well. On the other hand, Home Alone is long overdue for a Special Edition from Fox, but I don't think that will be happening this year, probably.

Anything from Paramount is unlikely for a re-release, so I wouldn't hold your breath for a new White Christmas DVD. At least that has some more extras, whereas my personal favorite, Scrooged, only has the trailer.

Thanks, Luke.. I already have the Home Alones (the first two, which are all that matter), but would gladly double dip for a great special edition. I'll go ahead with my Christmas purchases for this year, then. The world of Christmas DVDs seems to be missing any extremely good DVD sets, with the exception of A Christmas Story (looks to be a good DVD). Unfortunately, that is pretty much the only Christmas movie I don't like. Oh, and The Grinch (2001) has a pretty good one, too.

 Well I like to have them ready and waiting for me by Thanksgiving day, and with this fall being SO crowded with DVD releases, I wanted to go ahead and get about four or so Christmas DVDs out of the way. I'm still considering which ones to get.
