Walt Disney Treasures to be Re-Issued

according to my friend @ BVHE the Treasure's will be Re-Issued without the tin can in the near future, it will have the same things except the limited edition tin case so if you missed out on some this might be a way to get the discs you missed.

I dont really care about the tins (not enough room to store 7+ tins anyways).

This would explain the fact that they are popping up from time to time on the BVHE lists for places like Australia and Holland. We would presumably be getting them tinless as well...

That irritates me.... I spent a lot of money making sure that I would get an elusive title, and for Disney to re release them (of course minus the tin) makes me mad.

I really dont care about the tin...they are cool, but if you can save money and get it minus the tin..I would rather do that. The tins I have now are just in a box in storage...

I agree, even though I am missing Davy Tin and would love to have it. I spent so much money trying to make sure I got them because they were suppose to be "limited"......grrrrrr.........frustrating

Luckily, I've only spent about $80 on the 3 that I own:
$26 Mickey in color
$24-26 Mickey BW
and $30 Silly Symphonies, but these were basically the selling prices, I guess I will only really be affeected if the new release price is alot lower!! But Oh well, I'm definately holding off on Goofy now

. It's a shame for all you guys who paid a lot to have the whole set though

. Personally future tins don't matter much to me either, although I like the ones I have. They too are taking up storage space

Sorry guys to say this but I'm really glad about this because I haven't bought any of these sets yet and I really want them. Actually though my wallet wont be thanking disney for this.

don't go beating your self against a brick wall (*Uhh maybe that was done in bad taste, sorry*), but on the bright side if the treasures are re-released atleast you will have your tin that might be worth some money if you wanted to sell it (*Again I do not have the right emoticon to show how I feel, but nobody knew what I was talking about anyway*). I feel your pain man and don't know what to tell you, it is sad...

I truly feel for you guys and gals that paid premiums for your copies of the current Tins. I'm one of those that didn't (most I paid for one was $22.99 at the Disney Store) so this decision does not affect me either way. However, just a few things to keep in mind:

1) For now this is only a rumor, so I wouldn't get all ruffled just yet.

2) The collectible aspect of the Tins is, well, the fact that you had #7629 out of 125,000. Those numbered tins will not lose their value because they are still limited editions. If these are rereleased w/out the tins it should have little to no effect on what the Tins would be going for.

3) To those that paid a lot more than $30 for any of your tins, don't blame Disney. Sure they created demand by issuing them as LEs, but they aren't getting any of that $$ when someone on eBay that has horded 100 copies of MMILC and sells them for $75 each. Nor do they get any extra $$ when Suncoast Video places one on the rack this month for $59.99.

Actually, in this case I think Disney is thinking about consumers - why not reissue these DVDs so those who didn't think of getting the tins the first time around can get their fix of old Mickey Mouse cartoons without having to pay $100+ through EBay?

I wonder if the re issues will be the same as the current tins. I have doubts that they’ll want the mainstream public to see the “bad” cartoons, even with the ever so annoying “warnings”.

If a simple “sez you” or “sex” written on the sky caused the outrage that it did, imagine what (say) the Mickey B&W cartoons would do.

Might they release the shorts in SOME form? Probably. I’m sure they’ll release them as a selective collection. Maybe a disc with 10 Mickey cartoons or something (leaving out the “bad” ones or censoring them) and such. But I just have doubts that they will allow such “racist filth” to be bought by housewives and children.

And actually, one of the Disney tins is getting a “re issue” this September. The theatrical Davy Crockett is going to be released on DVD (which of course will be WS and therefore not OAR):

That's not really true, as once the Costco collection appeared, EBay prices dipped quite noticeably. I remember this because I was looking for Mickey 1 and Goofy on EBay, and managed to snag a Goofy tin for around original retail, and a Mickey 1 Costco for almost nothing.

Supply and demand has smoothed out since then, but flooding the market with a reissue does wean off a segment of "I could care less about the tin" buyers, thus lowering overall prices... especially over the short term.

It's been a while since that Costco collection showed up. It has been said that there were about 11.000 copies repackaged from returned sets (with damaged tins). Is that it - or does anyone know that it's actually an "unlimited" release?

I have spent a lot of money importing the tins from the US but i think it was worth it. I've said it befour on this forum that the sets should be widely available to those who want them , but still keep the tins limited then everyone has a choice - either buy an expensive LE tin or a normal price disc set.

I don't feel that my expensive tins have lost any value because i didn't buy them to sell on or as an investment - i bought them because i wanted the product in them.

I totally agree and there should be limited tins for collectors and hardcore Disney-ites, and general DVD packs for those who just want to see the movies.

Personally, I just think the tins are so cool, and I felt like a little kid when my Amazon shipment came in.
