Worst Old Disney Film
I will have to say DUMBO! That movie is so stuped and so depressing I mean who cares about some little baby elephant who is racist! You know what this movie is the most over-rated movie in the history of the world. They make it sound like such a great movie when really it isn't. I mean it is just about a Elephant. A dumb little Elephant who wants to fly like a birdy right out the window "Kur Splat"! But for some odd reason a lot of people like it so I won't say any more!

You really do need to invest in a good spell checker.Disney Guru wrote:I will have to say DUMBO! I am a stuped elephant will somebody help me. Hey Mom did the hospital call yet to say that they are readdy to put my brain back in ? Mom can we sing the Baby Elephant March again ? Hey Mom Can I eat the crows for brekfast they are starting to annoy me. That is what the movie is like to me I am sorry but I hate that movie with a passion.[/b]
I think the pink elephants are really quite brilliant. I am not so sure what is so racist. Is it because the circus workers were black? That would be historically accurate, not racist.
There really is not a bad movie there, but Bambi would be my least favorite.

Oh, I'd have to say Dumbo...although it's not a horrible movie, I just don't find it quite as spectacular as the others.
I haven't watched it in a few years, but last time I saw it, I remember getting bored of it then getting up and leaving. However, I probably should watch it again to have a strong opinion on that.

Koda, relax. Just because we're voting for a movie which we think is the worst doesn't mean we hate it; we just like a lot of other Disney movies more than it.
My vote goes to Dumbo, though Bambi's pretty close behind it. Of course they're not bad films at all, but I just don't find either one very memorable compared to other Disney movies.

I think the day we ignore all the negative qualities simply because we are meant to like Disney is the day we can stop calling ourselves "fans".Koda wrote:OMGWTF!!!!! You guys are in a Disney Forum!! You're suppost to like all things Disney!!!! I am so ashamed of you guys.I like all Disney films, maybe some more than others, but all of them.
I can personally appreciate the artistic qualities of a a film like...Cinderella for example, or Bambi, but when it comes to rewatchability, I'm going to place them at the bottom of a list. It is just a personal preference.
Now, I should saw I DO like all of these films, but there are some I like less than others. The word "worst" in the title of the poll implies and extreme negativity, and I think that is what Koda is reacting to. So as I said, Bambi & Cinderella are my LEAST favourite, simply because I find them slow on a second viewing. Doesn't mean I hate them, just means I like other films more.

I think Bambi was the worst one from this list....

Why so anti-Dumbo?
For me Dumbo represents the zenith of Disney animation. The animation is at times stunning, and I'm not just talking Pink Elephants, the roustabouts sequence displays an incredible use of light and shadow. The ability to make an animal such as an elephant seem weightless in those flying scenes is also pretty amazing. It features an excellent score, arguably the best of any Disney movie, or any 1940s Hollywood musical, and is more heartfelt and emotionally envolving than other Disney movie. The scene where Dumbo visits his imprissioned mother is much sadder than Bambi (I always fell seperation is much sadder than death which is pretty final). It also exhibits excellent story telling, featuring the tightest plot of any Disney feature; at 64 minutes it is well paced and tells is story directly - no hanging around.
For me the weakest Disney movie on the list artistically is Cinderella (plus the animals are a little too cute). But still this is a wholy entertaining film. Besides which, all the films mentioned on said list are head and shoulders above anything Disney have achieved in the post-Walt era (which is not to imply that have not released some excellent features in the last 4 decades). As such I shall abstain from voting.

I pressed "See results" instead of "Vote" . . . oops . . .
This is tough. There's at least one thing that I love about each of the movies I was thinking about voting for (the disappearing raccoons in Bambi or the Casey Junior scene in Dumbo, for example) but in the end I went with Bambi.

I agree. I can appreciate Bambi, but it is very uninteresting to me. The whole first 30 minutes is just showing us how cute the animals are. Oops, Bambi fell down, isn't that cute. That kind of stuff goes on and on and wears thin, in my opinion. The actual story can be told in 15 seconds.Cinderelly wrote:I think Bambi was the worst one from this list....
Pinocchio & Fantasia are my favorites from that period.
