About Special Editions
I really like the Sleeping Beauty DVD, and am excited about Mulan and Pochahontas, but Im wondering why theyre making a Lilo and Stitch special edition before Black Cauldron, Sword in the Stone, Peter Pan, Oliver and Company, Hercules, Tarzan,Fox and the Hound, Rescuers, Pinocchio, and more. I just dont understand why these movies which should be given some recognition ( especially cauldron, and stone) arent but Lilo and stich ( which just came out is) i just think they should do these first before , what does everyone else think?

Dumbo was released within a month of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Platinum Edition. Disney hadn't been doing any 2-disc sets for older titles yet, and as Dumbo was not part of the Platinum Collection, the single-disc release wouldn't have been a surprise. There will be a 2-disc release somewhere down the line, though.TheZue wrote:I'd also like to know how dumbo ended up a one disk setup for the anniversary edition.

Re: About Special Editions
I think it's because it's easier to create a second disc of extras for recent movies. With the older movies, they have to dig through the archives and try to find the original people who worked on it who are still alive.MisterMalificent wrote:I really like the Sleeping Beauty DVD, and am excited about Mulan and Pochahontas, but Im wondering why theyre making a Lilo and Stitch special edition before Black Cauldron, Sword in the Stone, Peter Pan, Oliver and Company, Hercules, Tarzan,Fox and the Hound, Rescuers, Pinocchio, and more. One could argue that that's all the more reason to do them now, not later. But I get your point.mvealf wrote: I think it's because it's easier to create a second disc of extras for recent movies. I wonder if we'll ever see a 3-Disc Disney DVD?

Oh boy! Not this again.... What does it matter if a release is ME,SE,PE as long as we get a nice release with 2-discs, excellent a/v and plenty of bonus features. I think we should appreciate that Disney is even going to rerelease L&S and Pocahontas.DreamerQ18 wrote:I thought that Lilo and Stitch and Pochantas were going to be Masterpiece editons not Special Edition or was there a change of plans and now they are going to be special Editon instead of Masterpiece?MisterMalificent wrote:I really like the Sleeping Beauty DVD, and am excited about Mulan and Pochahontas, but Im wondering why theyre making a Lilo and Stitch special edition before Black Cauldron, Sword in the Stone, Peter Pan, Oliver and Company, Hercules, Tarzan,Fox and the Hound, Rescuers, Pinocchio, and more. Of course, with these titles, they're just names.

Re: About Special Editions
Well Jezzzz my bad forgive for me for asking a question about DIsney DVD realse and a Disney DVD forum whats was I thinking? Besides dosne that bother you how there is no particualr reason for the type of relase well it does me I like organization and order so I was wondering.yoda_four wrote:Oh boy! Not this again.... Sorry for being so harsh. Yes, I wish Disney would shape up and stick to 2-3 collections properly for a few years, but that just isn't the case. The only reason I metioned that was because I personally dont see much of a difference between an ME or an SE. They're both 2-discers, right? I dont really care if Mulan isn't "qualified" to be a masterpiece because it's special. I do care if Mulan's a PLatinum or Collector's or Golden or Limited. Id o care if Mualn's given a crappy "HOTR" type release. I hope Disney gets better with their releases one day but that day is not today. For now I'm just happy on what we are getting.
