I've heard about it before, but I was hoping Columbia would change their minds in time. The Matilda Special Edition DVD coming in August will be a pan and scan job, and what adds even more insult to injury is that the film will receive a new HD transfer, which makes the missing anamorphic job even more baffling. I'm debating about whether or not I should get this. Yes, it's evil to have a fullscreen only release, but I love this movie and have wanted to own it for ages. Here's the cover art (much nicer than the old one), and some specs. It sounds like a rather kiddie SE, but decent enough I suppose, though I still want my anamorphic transfer.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
That makes me really mad. Matilda is one of my favorites and I'd hate to see it fullscreen only. You'd think they'd maybe put both the fullscreen and widescreen version on one disc like some DVDs, but I guess not. Pigs will have to fly before I buy a pan and scan DVD!
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.
