The thing is, if you want to think of this reallistically, chances are that most of the cartoon series would never make it onto dvd. I don't think Disney would see much of a profit in it, and the truth is, that while profit isn't everything, it is a factor when putting together dvd sets like that, they need to make more then they spend putting the sets together...
And if Disney insiders were to be reading this now, they would probably not take it too seriously and move on, because they might see it as too much to put every single animated series on dvd, and personally I'd like to see either season sets of the show, or the entire show on one set (chronologically) as oppose to the 4 episode disc/tapes they release every once in a while...
So what I'm trying to say, it if you could only pic a handful of animated tv series, to come out, in their entirety, and in chronological order, what would they be and why? Keep in mind if Disney does put a show out on DVD, they want it to be something that will sell.
Here's what I think:
- Goof Troop - This series was so important, in that it brought Goofy back to action for audiences to enjoy. It introduced his son Max, and also brought Pete back to the spotlight. It was a great show that everyone could enjoy, and lead to Goofy's return to the big screen in A Goofy Movie as well as the DTV sequel An Extremely Goofy Movie the series and it's movie successors were also mentioned on the Goffy treasure set, and are essential to completing anyone's Goofy collection...
- House of Mouse - This series not only showcased cartoon shorts from the short lived Mouse Works but it paired up the whole Mouse Gang: Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Daisy, Clara Bell, and Horace, in a night club entertaining just about, if not every, character to grace a Disney picture with their presence... It is a fun show, and exposes us to more shorts with all our favorites characters, and gives Daisy more airtime, then she has ever been given before. Like Goof Troop was for Goofy fans, House of Mouse, is important to completing anyone's Mickey's collection...
- Kim Possible -
Reason for Kim Possible coming soon... As well as suggestions for a couple other tv show DVD sets...

I think there's always been a great demand for these. I hope that one day we'll see them on DVD.
As for releasing their TV properties on DVD, never say never. Don't forget that the upcoming Spider-Man '67 Collection is being released by Disney. If it does well, I expect that we'll see some more releases in the future. If the Hanna-Barbera sets continue doing well, then Disney could get more aggressive with their TV properties. So far, very few "new" cartoons have been released on DVD. But many from the 80s have come out. Since DuckTales was one of the most popular Disney shows, I'd expect it to come out at some point. The other Toon Disney shows should follow if it does well. Maybe they'll release it if the DuckTales movie sells well.

Well, when Fox released the "failed" TV series "Family Guy" on DVD, it made so much profit, it kickstarted production on new episodes for TV!
Don't even think that there would be no profit in releasing Disney's cartoon series on DVD. Everyone who grew up watching the shows is old enough now to not only feel nostalgia, but also some have their own children who they would like to watch the cartoons with.
There are lots of reasons Disney may not be releasing these at the moment. Firstly, while some my scoff, there are bound to be legal issues. It doesn't mean seasons sets are impossible to release, but there are bound to be some issues that need sorting out. Secondly, the Disney cable channels get good use out of the cartoons. Disney may be worried about loosing viewers if they own the cartoons themselves (especially on the newer cartoons like House of Mouse).

Personally I would love to see Darkwing Duck, and Tailspin come out of DVD, mainly because I remember loving them when I was little. It wouldn't hurt to have Kim Possible come out either, that is a great show:)
I'd bet they'd get a decent profit out of them as well, but hope that they wouldn't put some ridiculous price on them like the transformers sets.

It wasn't a "failed" series it was put off the air because it made fun of such a large group of people. Also when people can't see something they want to see it even more, just like the treasures.Well, when Fox released the "failed" TV series "Family Guy" on DVD, it made so much profit, it kickstarted production on new episodes for TV!
Well, I really hope Disney release some of the animated TV-series in season-sets. I would NOT want any of those theme, or best-of sets like the ones from the Winnie the Pooh-series.
Ducktales would have been nice. As a seasonal set.
Darkwing Duck, Talespin, Jungle Cubs, The Gummibears, Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Timon & Pumbaa, etc. All these would have been welcome to my Disney-collection
Disney could at least try with one real season from one popular TV-series, and see the response. Then it's up to us.

Depending on how the Hanna Barbera sets do {so far very good} and other animated shows {Batman, Garfield and Friends, etc.} that will determine if Disney is interested in releasing the sets.
You probably wont see shows like Bonkers or Aladdin out, but you'll probably see the one's that stood out {Ducktales, Chip N Dale, Talespin, and probably Gargoyles and Goof Troop}.
Three years ago executives were convinced you couldnt sell shows on DVD, now its proving to be huge money even with shows that are already into syndication {Family Guy, Star Trek, Simpsons}.
I think Disney will move to put their shows on DVD but like many things at Disney nowadays, it will be AFTER someone else tests the idea. Real shame considering the company was founded on just the opposite approach.
If Walt were alive there would be many a firing going on.

I think it's possible, but not necessarily probable. It depends on a few things...
Disney will be eyeing the other Hannah Barbara, superhero, etc. releases, as someone else mentioned. If they are successful, they will become a little more likely.
Disney has been a little reluctant about entering the TV-On-DVD market (who knows why)... aside from Alias, of course, but it's not really associated with Disney. Boy Meets world will be a big test for them. When it brings in phenomenal sales (as it undoubtedly will), then they will probably instantly begin production on Golden Girls DVDs (can't wait!).
If/when all the aforementioned releases are successful, then I think Disney may give some serious thought to one of these 5 sets: DuckTales, The Proud Family, KimPossible, Goof Troop, or House of Mouse. All 5 of these would have to be released to a warm, maybe hot, reception in initial sales for anything else to be released.
Fortunately, all this is possible, maybe even likely. So here's to optimism.
